You can alleviate the Power Charge issue by adding Neural Overload to Charged Staff. Neural Overload electrocutes enemies much sooner than simply waiting for electrocute buildup to hit 100%. This will allow you to generate charges from white mobs much more consistently, without having to drop the bell. Also, why no Lightning Infusion on Tempest Flurry?
Hey man great video! What do you have socketed in your staff btw? I am assuming added elemental damage but I wanted to make sure lol. Found a nice staff with a bunch of cold damage
Another way is to use chaluya hand to curse with mark that gives frenzy charges then us cast on crit with mark and eye of winter. Jump to early packs with hand to curse and then once you get a few chargers should be fine.
Welcome. I’ve enjoyed your videos. Finally switched to herald of ice and it’s amazing. I’m using the gem that gives crit chance on full life, and it seems to help with the large explosions if you are lower on damage. Also helps to have cold infusion on HOT to help get chills for that initial HOI pop.
@@Pop_Hat The Cold Infusion on Herald of Thunder is a great tip! Now the chill actually triggers off white mobs. It's even creating Chilled Ground thanks to the I Am The Blizzard ascendancy passive. You can also slot Ice Bite on it if you have a 4-link so you also get the 35% extra cold dmg HoT freezes.
The Three Dragons Solid helm is a really good way to use lightning skills but still freeze. It doesn't require having cold damage to freeze. It makes lightning damage contribute to freeze buildup. You pit Electrucute support on tempest flurry to also allow lightning damage to contribute to electrocution. Worried about losing shock from electrocute, no problem. The helm makes fire damage contribute to shock. Then cold damage contribute to ignite. The helm affords the opportunity to shift what caused what in a way that you can now double dip doing electrocution and freeze with lightning damage from tempest fluery.
If you put this helm up you give up on a 1000+ life, resist and crit. You shouldnt have too much of an issue freezing, shocking or any of the others with a regular helmet on
@Travic_ I am running a lightning setup with tempest flurry. I had a quarterstaff with 212 physical and 44 cold. It was proccing freezes just fine and allowing combat frenzy to generate power charges. I upgraded to a new quarterstaff that has 285 physical but only 3-5 cold. The staffs have the exact same modifiers, just different values. The new staff was not proccing freeze, and therefore combat frenzy wasn't generating power charges. There were only two solutions, go back to using the older staff, or find a way for my lightning damage to build freeze. The helm did the trick and my damage is much higher because of it.
something else to try is Elemental Expression, if by endgame you have enough +crit. You put Electrocute into Storm Wave (or TF if you want I havent tested this) and Neural Overload into EE and you will be consistently Electrocute enemies for charges. Storm Wave wont Shock but EE and all your other abilities will. I think EE has been a bit overshadowed due to Meditate and Freeze being very good, it procs A LOT at 30%+ crit. I tested this on level 81 maps with Ele + stun threshold maps and was managing to get charges where freezing was near impossible
You can put Electrocute on Herald of Thunder, btw. How are you dealing with Elemental Expression's insane mana consumption, though? I stopped using it cause it drains my mana very quickly with ~60% crit chance. It would be even worse if I were crit-capped I feel like.

Be careful of how many you use as itll increase it pretty fast (mine is 59 mana per) I made the mistake of putting +level skill gems in it and saw it at like 90 mana per. For clearing I have two 2% mana on kill jewels, mana leech on both rings and mana leech as my 5th jewel on TC. I rarely need to mana flask during trash and on bosses im sustaining without too much issue. I dont care so much about charges on bosses since bell does that easy enough and primarily use TF I also have a 270-533 physical staff right now. I have Elecrocute in Storm Wave for a more 'on-demand' feel when I need to initally build Electrocute faster since its pumping out far more lightning damage. Thats at least how it feels to me but maybe im wrong on how it works. Ill give Herald a try
Finally managed to make your build work with what I have and it's sweet!! I still eat crap on 15 -16 maps but I just need to gear up more. I think that's my biggest issue right now.. nothing drops. I've never seen a divine orb...maybe one of these days 😂
Dont aim for divine orbs aim for everything else that you can sell and make into divines. If you wait for divines you will forever be broke. I am glad to hear its working! Thats great news. Little more gear and you will be cruising
You could also spec into "One with the Storm" Node so every Charge you consume counts as 2 consumed charges. This helps me alot to sustain Charged Staff, also I kinda like the extra crit chance you get along with it! Ofc if you generate enough charges anyways, you don't need this node. But I like it alot =]
Electrocute on Charged Staff is mvp though. Good control, range, assists with electrocute on both ranged and melee abilities. It’ll be hard to swap that off after trying it.
Once I started killing too fast to build charges, I switched to reapers invocation with profane ritual. It’s not as good for bosses though, unless I plan ahead.
Yeah I was thinking about switching back to Profane but having to swap for bossing sucks, since I'm running pure cold. If you're running some Shock skills you at least have Siphoning Strike to get rolling. Probably gotta run a Crit setup with Sniper's Mark.
The only issue with power charge, is always at the beginning of the fight when you do not have any power charges. It forces you to use tempest flurry without charged staff and you need to face the mobs right in the face which makes you incredibly vulnerable. Any thought on this? Update: I can confirm that power charges feel alot better with this update where electrocute gem is placed in herald of thunder. In the old build, you have to be at melee range to use tempest flurry to generate charges even when charged staff is enabled. So this makes it feel a lot better. But still, the problem at the beginning of the fight without power charges is still there.
How come you dont use concentrated effect on tempest flurry or ice strike? According to tooltip DPS it is a way bigger DPS increase instead of lighting mastery or cold mastery? Are the numbers lying?
for clarity, with concentrated effect with Ice strike I go from showing 50K dps to 75K dps, and for tempest flurry it goes from 45K dps to 65K DPS shown on the gem menu. All the numbers look to increase when I open detailed view aswell
Are you sure it ups all strikes according to detailed view? Some people have been arguing AoE/range only boosts the final strike for tempest flurry. Not sure if that goes for ice strike as well.

Should try pillar of the caged gods and drop all that lightning for attributes. I’m doing about double your dps and still able to run ice strike and blink with same kit you have on. It’s a lot more fun in the T16 range imo. Used your build as the ground work since it’s so solid tho
my only reason why im not using the porc ring (even tho i got one from chance orb lmao) is that i just dont have enough skill slots. im using two unset rings already and theres just too many good skills for me to even drop one of them😂
Love the vids, I have a question I seem to be missing about half damage compared to your vids I'm still missing 30% crit on my helmet the lightning nodes at the end and 25 dex and 30 int compared to you. Is that all it takes to double or am I missing something else. Using the unique weapon you showed too. Sorry if long just a bit lost
The unique weapon is a good starter but it needs to be replaced eventually. It wont hold up with a good mid tier weapon. But yes missing 30% crit and 30 int is a lot of damage. Remember every 10 int is flat lightning damage that scales to the moon. So all of this adds up. Every % too closer to crit cap also increases your damage by a ton.

Hi Travic. I’m a Monk player. Almost lvl 70. My DPS is 6k on ice strike and 4k on Tempest Flurry. Am I doing something wrong? Because I’m barely doing Tier 2 Maps with a few modifiers. Damage is kinda fine but nowhere near what I see other people having. Is there a discord server of your community where we can figure out the problem with my build? I’d appreciate that. New player, first time ARPG, but good with Souls games so didn’t struggle much throughout the campaign and bosses.

You should play it in a way that kicks ass for you and makes it the most enjoyable. The way I do it might not be for you or you might want to take what I do and add your own spin to it. If you are blasting content and having a blast man keep on rocking. If you want to experiment with what I am doing , do it! POE is the best example of an awesome sandbox game where sure some things can break what your doing but sometimes you just find a quirky combo that suits you so well you just roll with it

For me, i was doing to much damage, specifically to much cold. Got porc ring for 36%, my other ring also has 30% cold on it, t9 flat cold on my staff.. since i switched to a variation of your build particuarly renoving the 50% herald damage and going ES, CI with more lightning damage nodes - im now gaining and maintaining much more charges. Dont even use herald of thunder anymore
I cannot generate combo or power charges with Storm Wave, but works perfectly fine with Tempest Flurry....ZERO build changes other than swapping the skill I do not know why
You will not generate combo points with Storm wave this is correct. You should be generating power charges. Without you giving your mobalytics in the discord with all your gear / skills /passives we cant diagnose whats wrong. My guess is you arent doing enough cold damage
I really like the style of your build love tempest flurry but i moved away from CI even with 11k es just didnt feel as good as my evade ehp build burning ground is horrible lol im now 5100ehp 85% evade and i don't get touched currently 65k tooltip dps finally got my gloves and added 120+20% rarity and had 2 perfect Jewelers orb drop last night 120% feels like a good spot and didnt hurt my damage
Lmao. I've been playing ice strike and you definitely have to pay more attention. Like, anytime there's a ground effect you've gotta get out and go back in. It allows you to move around faster though and the third and fourth (with crescendo) attacks of Ice Strike deals basically double damage.
My charges generate fine my problem is I have low ES reaching only 3k even with pretty decent gear if I spec too much into ES nodes I loose damage even with unique ring.
Tbh how monk has to generate power charges is terrible mechanics by ggg. In order to generate power charge on a class based on power charges, you need to use spirit for combat frenzy which is terrible allready and have to get resonance node. Like come on 😅
Point is, our chars designed for poe2 but monsters still in poe 1 design. Anything palm related shenanigans is not suited for mapping speed, profane ritual needs corpse and possibly cast on shock\freeze setup, bell shenanigans needs melee hit to actually land Tldr, all these method doesnt feel smooth atural on a class that is kinda centric around on power charge. Just my opinion, maybe wrong

@@jonesenoj1 why not put Electrocute AND Neural Overload on EE? As far as I'm aware, they don't cancel each other out.

@ Tempest Flurry and whatever the ranged Lightning attack is called. So I effectively have both a near and far shocker

Porc ring is gonna change your entire perspective if you work it in. Realistically, it's probably the most broken item in the game rn.

Only if you use call of the brotherhood. You can literally slot in ice strike and go bananas

Lmao. I've been playing ice strike and you definitely have to pay more attention. Like, anytime there's a ground effect you've gotta get out and go back in. It allows you to move around faster though and the third and fourth (with crescendo) attacks of Ice Strike deals basically double damage.

My charges generate fine my problem is I have low ES reaching only 3k even with pretty decent gear if I spec too much into ES nodes I loose damage even with unique ring.
You need to get gear then with higher energy shield. For exmaple my helm has 375 energy shield and it gives me ~1950 es.
I put electrocute gem on tempest flurry and generated charges from killing mobs

Tbh how monk has to generate power charges is terrible mechanics by ggg.
In order to generate power charge on a class based on power charges, you need to use spirit for combat frenzy which is terrible allready and have to get resonance node.

Huh? You don't have to do it that way. You can just use Siphoning Strike or Profane Ritual. Or even Killing Palm but that sucks.

Point is, our chars designed for poe2 but monsters still in poe 1 design.
Anything palm related shenanigans is not suited for mapping speed, profane ritual needs corpse and possibly cast on shock\freeze setup, bell shenanigans needs melee hit to actually land
Tldr, all these method doesnt feel smooth
atural on a class that is kinda centric around on power charge. Just my opinion, maybe wrong
