Both teams were coming off loses and both were fired up. UCONN just happened to be more fired up than Maryland. If MD played UCONN last Sunday instead of NC, they very well might have won as UCONN didn't have their act together; and they even had Azzi.

Not denying the intentional foul here. However, Seller's elbow does come down on Paige's face, which is unintentional contact. Just minutes prior, Paige had her eye poked pretty seriously, another unintentional contact. Not hard to figure how any player would start getting fired up by this point.
It was a CLEAN rebound by sellers. Great rebound actually. She didn't go over the back and her elbow has to go SOMEWHERE. It was a normal motion. The refs got EVERYTHING right on this one.
By your OWN logic the UNINTENTIONAL elbow to the neck by Aubrey Griffin should be a reason for retaliation by Maryland????

@@HannahDisponett that Iowa is an average when CC isn't on and that they are a 1 dimensional team! If teams play her aggressively they have no one else that can run the floor as well as her. She's only as good as the rest of her teammates basketball is not individual a sport. If teams shut her down she's no longer a threat!! She's amazing individually but that won't win championships!

I agree with the intentional foul, but the other girl is being quite dramatic, which makes it look much worse than it really was.
Bueckers got elbowed in the face unintentional but maybe thought it was intentional. Still, you gotta focus on your game even if there is dirty play by opponent so you are still trying to get to the ball instead of trying out for the wrestling team. 😂

NC State fan here. UConn lost to us by 11 but it easily could've been 15-20. The amount of times they blatantly fouled us while shooting and it wasn't called was crazy.
Growing sports need players and teams to hook new fans that they can bandwagon, and it pays to be one of those teams.
I will say reffing is so inconsistent and they don't call Carrie ever at least for certain games and the push off that some points do drive me nuts!

Retribution. The girl elbowed her across her face on this very play!!! Not to mention the eye poke they already gave her. Don’t worry, this girl 3 minutes later gives Bueckers a hip check after Paige leaves her feet for a layup. Causing her legs to go out to the side and making her fall hard. No hands up, no play for the ball. Just a blatant hard hip check. And weirdly enough, no intentional foul. That play is the very definition of intentional foul.

Moreover, the girl was clearly over the back with significant contact, should have been a foul right there without even having to worry about the chin. Paige gets hit more than anyone because opponents are jealous, can't stop her, or some combination. It's critical she push back and let them know they cant take liberties. I's like to see her teammates more aggressively defend her, seems Nika is the only one who does. They have to let the others know that if you go after our star, yours will drop. It's the only way to stop it, the refs clearly don't
