F4i was my second bike, I rode it for 6 years and put alot of miles down. I then bought a 1000rr in 07. I just recently returned back to an f4i and realized just how wonderful this bike was. In my opinion, this is one of the best bikes ever made.
This is exactly what I did! I went from a Suzuki GS500F to the F4i, and now to a '11 CBR1K. And I'm looking to get back to the F4i now. It's such a comfy bike for tall dudes (I'm 6'5"), and it's got more power than comparable modern 600s, unless you're getting into the supersports.
Not sure how you do it at 6’5”. I’m just 5’9” and on the newer Cbr600’s the short wheelbase and the seat being so close to the bars, I find it hard to tuck. Is the F4i the same way? I haven’t ridden one.
I had this exact same bike brand new. It was smooth as glass and fast as shit. And still holds up in the looks department today as if it were a 2021 model. What a great machine. And WOW its 20 years old.
I've had this bike for 10 years and, even though other bikes have come and gone, this one has stayed with me. I love this bike. Fast, comfortable, and linear power band. Fast enough that I still haven't felt like I've outgrown it, but forgiving enough that this is the bike my wife learned on. Now we both ride it and love it. Good review.
Am quite late to the party, but isn't this bike, really front heavy? I had a 02...for a few months, as an early second bike, I just couldn't get comfortable with it... Few months later, got a cbr 600rr and the front felt much lighter ....
Right! For a 21 year old bike it still looks and runs great. Mine had 23k miles on it when I bought it and now 3k miles later with me being a throttle junkie and learning how to ride it it still going strong.
The CBR600 F4i is actually my first bike. here what I have to say. The F4i is cheap, I paid $1,900 for mine, they are also popular amongst stunters, so when you are ready to sell it for a different bike, the market will be there. A 300 CC bike is wonderful, however I know I would out grow it quickly. The good thing about the F4i, it is actually somewhat forgiving. The heap of the power isn't made until the top end of the RPM range. If you take it slow, know your limits and respect the bike, the CBR600 F4i is a great beginner bike. Remember this bike take a level of maturity. If you are a need for speed type of person, wait a couple of years until you grow out if it. (I am speaking from experience) So if you are considering this bike as your first, don't hesitate.
Hey man I know I'm late but this summer I'm planning on purchasing my first bike. I have plenty of dirt bike experience under my belt so I feel as long as I can keep in mind the capabilities of the bike and refrain from being stupid on it, i feel like i could learn to ride on an F4i. I have been seeing them on craigslist and facebook for some good deals. Very excited.
Thanks for the video. My 2001 F4i has 43000 miles and still roars like a lion. It is my first bike and it is solid and took me about two years to get up over 8000 RPM lol. I only commute these days with it. No issues with it - reliable and comfortable.
Hey man it's really good to know u r happy with ur bike i am planning on buying one these days and it alerts me that this bike might not be really good for in city riding, i live in a pretty crowded places

I got an F4i recently too and it had a bunch of ghetto jimmie rigged stuff done to it and a bunch of cheap ebay parts installed on it that the guy did himself. It was really dirty and sticker bombed and abused. I've been commuting with her and taking care of her and cleaning her up and removing all the cheap aftermarket stuff and getting OEM Honda parts reinstalled. She's coming back together nicely. She cleans up nice and I'm getting tons of compliments everywhere I go
Just bought this bike. Have been checking the used market several times a day for almost a month trying to find a well taken care 600cc. Scored on a beautiful, almost perfect 2001 F4i guy had taken very good care of and stored in a garage. This is my first bike ever. Drove it home. Only killed it once and was smiling the entire way home. The bike gave me so much confidence, I would recommend to anyone. Plan to put a walk around video on my channel. Thanks for making this review, it definitely helped me learn more about this bike before purchasing.
This was a great video man, as someone looking into one of these after being out of riding for 3 years, I really appreciate the effort you put into this review.
This was my first sport bike. Im 57 and rode since about 10 years old. I wanted a VFR750 800 but did not find a decent used one . I took it to the Track already took a lesson and laid it down on the 6th lap. Still don't know why it lowsided. I felt perfectly relaxed thru the 180 hairpin. I probably overolled the throttle. But could have been a dozen other reasons. Had bikes all around me in the turn another went down to my high side.....So, I have put 3500 miles in 7 weeks on this 06 that cost $3800 with only 11k on it. Looked new. It was well cared for. So I can go about 2.5 hours before hips cramp up. Im 6' 2" 190lbs so it just barley fits me. Great bike I think it would be to much for a first time rider. Unless you are very respectful of 105hp and the shitstorm u can get into on this or any bike . I been to 167mph, in thin air of Colorado.. STUPID, on mine with a little throttle left. But, had to see if I had a breaking point for fear. I don't. So, that could get me into trouble . Glad I got full leathers and armour. I am sure I will be down again as long as I keep trying to go faster on the track.. Planning on doing more track days and race style riding. Would like to ride an RR to see how much less comfortable the RR CBR is.
Where did you go? This is a great review. Other considerations of an f4i is how heavy are you factory they are sprung for a rider about 150lbs. Swap out the springs in the forks and while you’re there go for the race tech gold valves. The rear spring is obsolete but race tech does sell a conversion spring plate to get you into customizable springs. This video is spot on about the cam chain tensioner but keep a sniff of your oil. If your oil is smelling like gas and the exhaust is rich your fuel pressure regulator has died. I have gone through two. Other than that this bike and engine is second to none. If deep into triple digits isn’t your thing and you don’t care about a little buzz on the highway I highly recommend dropping one tooth on the front sprocket ⚙️ if you do you will need a speedo healer to recalibrate the speedometer but power wheelies will come effortlessly in first and slight clutch will lift and carry the front wheel in second. So tasteful and very well put together video! I've owned two of these bikes and just now looking at getting a third. You've really done well on this video, and it couldn't be more accurate even now. Awesome work!
An outstanding video! I have a 95 f3! Traded it for my bmw on the 4th of July. All it took was one ride on my girls ninja 400 for m to get a rocket. Also have a 95 Honda shadow vlx vt600cd.. but yeah, the car needed like 3k in work. Apparently the first owner “dropped the bike”, on both sides!!! Smh. The damage is actually not hat bad of the left side. Right side is ehhh. But the bike would stall when put into gear and had a loud ticking from the right side of the motor. It was a super easy fix. Side stand switch wasn’t even plugged into its other half and so that fixed the stalling🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ and then I ordered the APE adjustable cam chain tensioner and boom 🤯 this thing is an absolutely beast! Pulls strong, decent amount of torque for sure. My speedometer reads 15 mph off though. Idk why? Maybe sprockets had been swapped? One day I swear it read 165 170 but it’s just impossible to look at your speed on the F3. Dash lights aren’t that strong and the numbers are to small imo. Still a great bike
great review I actually just bought this bike as my first bike. 😜 been riding offroad for a while and decided this was a great option and it truly is a great bike
Just gotta say thank you for the well made video and info on this bike, it helped me decide to get the F4i as my first sport bike. Found a 2004 with low miles. This is going to be an experience since most of my time on 2 wheels has been in the dirt.
this is the bike i want to start and probably to keep for many years :) thank you for such a nice review and such a nice video, enjoyable every single second
Excellent review, thanks. I'm an older rider having ridden a number of different brands and engine sizes over forty years. This is my current ride and I can say it is every bit as potent as any. Definitely not a beginner's bike. This thing in the hands of an inexperienced rider would be a disaster. Safe riding everyone.
I had this year and color combo. Beautiful bike, so much fun, and the helmet lock on the back is a no-brainer that should be on every bike! The metal tank seems to be a rarity now, but made it super easy to use a magnetic tank bag. I've had a few bikes since this one, all better on paper, but I do miss this bike.
I have had my F4i for 4 years now. Same as yours! Red and black with the split seat. I oddly enough have the same exhaust. I cut 7in off the exhaust a year ago and I ordered extra badges from Yoshi. If you want a new plate I am sure I can dig one out of the parts closet and send it your way. DM me if you want one. Fantastic video. I love the style of the video. Great use of graphics for the panning specs shot. Really good pace throughout the vid as well! Shiny side up bro.
Brilliantly narrated and excellent information. I totally agree that this bike is not a wise choice as someone's 1st bike. As a 2nd bike, sure... you'll appreciate it more and not kill yourself. 😀
Thanks I appreciate the comment, like you said if I can find the time I will :) Basically doing this for the love of it and borrowing friends bikes as I go.
This was my first bike, picked up a 2006 F4i from a buddy I worked with for 2800. I honestly believe this is the perfect starter bike. It really is fast as fuck but still some what forgiving. The statement "bullet proof" is very accurate. I abused the absolute heck out of her the first year and have stored her outside mutliple winters, every single spring she starts right up with zero issues. It really is incredible. One thing to note is that there is no gear indicator other than neutral and no fuel level indicator until you hit reseve limits. Its a no nonsense tough sport bike that will really force you to learn every feeling along the way. Which I feel is a great way to learn.
I have owned my 2006 F4I for 16 years 9,240 miles on it. Just replaced the original battery. I Love It. Smooth & Quiet Comfortable for long rides Cheers 🍻
Thank you! Very much appreciated, I've taken a bit of a break from making videos, but hoping to do some more soon. People leaving comments like yourself really make it worth it so again thank you :)
awesome video, I am in the process of rebuilding mine. It was gifted to me after my stepdad wrecked it. I've had the bike for 3 years and yet it still sits. only need a couple components left to get it running again. I cant wait. Awesome bike for sure.
Im on my second first was a 99 carburettor version. Think i prefer the fuel injected its so smooth and the power is there when you need it. Props to honda they do make amazing bikes. My old one had nearly 60000 miles on her and unfortunately second gear gave out was cheaper to sell than replace
Great video and very informative. This is probably what I'll go with for my first sport bike, I've only ever rode dirt bikes before but I will definitely start slow. Thanks for the vid and info 🤙
This is my first motorcycle and has been a blast in my first riding year. I dont have any desire to get rid of it for a bigger, faster bike. It is plenty fast and turn heads wherever I go. I have an 02 model.
Haven't been able to find a bike that's out there now that has the combination of performance, adjustability, sport styling, and comfort (well, unless I'm up for spending 13K for an Aprilia, etc.) that has that combo the way the F4i I sold 4 years ago has. So I just bought another one. Luckily found one that was a garage queen and in pristine conditions. Lots of fun riding ahead. Oh, and don't forget the F4i electronics: high beam!
95 f3! Traded it for my bmw on the 4th of July. All it took was one ride on my girls ninja 400 for m to get a rocket. And just one great all arounder.. I added saddle bags (custom mounts) bar risers, Corbin seat and various other bits and it’s nothing to put down 250+ miles a day over multiple day trips while still clutching up a 2nd gear wheelies and carving up some roads when conditions allow. On a side note 520 chain conversion and aluminum rear sprocket with +2 teeth does wonders for the old f4i and will let it the front wheel salute off of power in first gear at 8k rpm. Gearing will also let you hang with modern 600s till the speeds get questionable by any sane person with the trade off being top speed. which to be honest is really rare to play with on the street anyways.
A couple years ago, i bought a super clean F4i for $2k. So cheap, super fun, great commuter, saves me gas money, keeps up nicely with my racer buddies. What's not to like?
Yep cant get over too far over without dragging pegs and boots but it is respectable medium track ride. Great it Canyons, comfortable for hours. I need to upgrade to braided brake lines, got the shorrty levers and damper on.... stock exhaust is bulky , banna seat is great...at 6 2 I can stretch a little on long straight tuck. I really think its a good inexpensive ride ...mine is 06 Yellow can se me coming a long way off. Video is right on. My top end exceeds 165 mph easy but only once on the open interstate I routinely hit 135 thru my tracks longest straight coming through turn 11 to turn 1 at about 65 mph. So 65 to 135 in about 6 seconds set up for a long right at about 80mph it is plenty for an old guy but need more lean. Second bike coming this spring.
Just bought my 3rd bike. Started on a Rebel 250, then upgraded to an 883 Sportster, finally a Katana 600. If I can get through two seasons without killing myself on this thing, an F4i is hopefully going to be the last bike I ever buy.
im actually 15 in a half.. rare situation but this bike was my moms before mine and it only has about 3000 miles. her back started hurting too much when she rides motorcycles so now im inheriting because of my passion in bikes. next week friday im going to the dmv and taking my motorcycle permit test so i can ride to school xd
The issue is : a lot of people use f4i as stunt bikes , so it’s very hard to see a f4i in its Normal look ……. They are super strong bikes , and very forgiving, and can last a Life time if u take care of it
Damn dude nice video, great editing and you’ve got a great voice for this style of video keep it up man I could see this channlebdoing well if you tried to pump out videos more often and more consistently. I just got hit by some lady on my r6 a few days ago and my bike is most likely gonna be totaled out by insurance so I’ve been looking for a new bike to get cause not riding the last few days has been rough:/ I found a 2005 f4i with 3500 miles for that is suuuopper clean for only 3200 bucks almost sounds too good to be true lol the bike looks brand new so I’m gonna go check it out the owner is a chick probably just too much power for her I’m assuming cause only 3500 miles on a 2005 shit I’ll more than double that in a few months give the bike a life it deserves
I have a 2006. 32000 miles. Bulletproof is a good description, other than chain, sprockets, tires, oil, nothing has needed fixing. Down 1 on the front sprocket is how it's geared now. Down 1 Up 2 was a bit too much of a good thing.
I have a blue 06 it's true that you scrape foot pegs before you get a knee down happened to me in a deep turn. Keep that in mind if you're thinking track bike but it'll still take a 30 mph turn at 65
The split seat vs what you call the "banana" seat is not due to the year of the bike. They were available at the same time. The model you have with the split seat is actually a slightly different model called the F4i FS, which also features stronger valve springs.
I just bought the 2001 CBR 600 F4i for my first bike as well, and I love it. I've only had it for just over a month and have put over 3k miles on it and changed the oil twice. The thing that concerns me is the dry rattling or grinding sound it has when I'm riding it. I'm new to the street bike gang so any advice is greatly appreciated.
F4i was my first bike, its phenomenal for first time riders, parts a relatively cheap and as long as you dont ride like a pissed off teenager youll be fine startinv on it
Hey man it's really good to know u r happy with ur bike i am planning on buying one these days and it alerts me that this bike might not be really good for in city riding, i live in a pretty crowded places, so what do u think does the cooling system depends greatly on the air cooling
@@ahmedhussien3538 it can get hot sometimes if the temperatures up, but since its liquid cooled you should be fine as long as your not stuck in grid lock for a long time
I ride the Cbr600f4i, It's a beautiful bike, I always wondered about the buzzing bee kind of sounds at certain RPM, Since i'm somewhat new at riding, it's kind confused me at times, made me think I needed to shift hah, Now I know what that is!
There's a risk of over tightening and stretching the cam chain with a manual tensioner. Plus it will need future adjustments. The factory one may not be the greatest, its a known maintenance item but it gives you warning as it wears to its limit.
Soulless Productions was it easy to get used to? Planning on getting this for my first as well. Seeing all the 300 ones and ppl point of views seem pointless and everyone sells them to upgrade real quick.
@@davidfrom94 depends on which 300 or 250. A ninja 250 would be faster than a cbr 250 past a certain speed, but the cbr is EFI whereas the ninja has carbs. Ninja 300 is EFI as is CBR, but the CBR is still a single cylinder with less than 300cc. I would personally say the cbr has better build quality but it's slower than the ninja, the R3(The fastest 300 cc I think), and similar.

I have a 96 f3 and love it
I have a 2004 and this review is spot on. Well done.
I just bought this last january and its a good bike to learn especially when your new with sport bikes and is a good looking bike at the same time. 🏍👌
great review I actually just bought this bike as my first bike.
I’ve just bought one of these in the UK with 28000 on the clock, this is a great review! New rider, I’ll let you guys know how I get on
Let me know! I am about to buy one!
How is it for a new rider?
this is the bike i want to start and probably to keep for many years :) thank you for such a nice review and such a nice video, enjoyable every single second
One of the best CBRf4i vids on YT
I still have my f4i that I started on. Superrrr reliable
You should definitely do more of these reviews with this style of yours. If you have the time and effort to spare of course.
Yes I have had my F4I since 2006 16 years only 9,240 miles I Love It. So smooth & quiet just replaced the 1st Battery. Cheers 🍻
I’ve stunted my F4i for years and it is a tank
My first bike and i would say it is a damn near perfect bike to ride.
I have owned my 2006 F4I for 16 years 9,240 miles on it. Just replaced the original battery. I Love It. Smooth & Quiet Comfortable for long rides Cheers 🍻
I have a 2000 CBR 600 F4 and I love it. So much fast, So much fun 😍
Thanks, I'm looking at one right now. Hopefully everything falls through and I can go pick it up here in a couple weeks
Great video. You have a nice style and you get to the point and answer the important questions. Please make more! And I subscribed!
Just got an f4i and i love it
Getting mine today boys. My first bike. Wish me luck! 🤩
U just made me want this bike. Great video dude.
That was the best sounding intro i'd say
There is one at my local dealer for 3200. Its in excellent condition. Not a scratch on it.
Great video and very informative. This is probably what I'll go with for my first sport bike, I've only ever rode dirt bikes before but I will definitely start slow. Thanks for the vid and info 🤙
Really well done mate. Extraordinary machine. Cheers!
This is such an awesome bike and loads of fun! get an after market exhaust on and it'll make you smile.. I promise!
This is my first motorcycle and has been a blast in my first riding year. I dont have any desire to get rid of it for a bigger, faster bike. It is plenty fast and turn heads wherever I go. I have an 02 model.
This was my first bike brand new in 01, i still miss her 😢
Beautiful review! Thanks a bunch🙏🙌😎
You summed it up perfectly.
Fantastic review
I still have mine from brand new. Replacement/maintenance parts of course
Best bike review! Thanks!

Great bike. Perfect seating position. And nice power. This would be a great bike for any novice Ryder.
It’s an awesome beginner bike, it was my first!
One of The Best beginner bikes , 100% *reccomend* if you're competent !
Страхотен мотор
Имам три мотора, но този никога не се продава. Много добро видео.
Great review, keep on doing more
I still have my f4i. I take it out every once in a while. I bought a 1000 yrs back. Good reliable bike though
Thank you for an excellent, honest review
Just got mine. Cct crew holla 🤘😭
This dude made some of the best moto reviews on YT then he vanished
Should have some new content soon!
Awesome review I have one!! Love it
What a lovely review
Keep that in mind if you're thinking track bike but it'll still take a 30 mph turn at 65
Now that's a good fucking review.
The split seat vs what you call the "banana" seat is not due to the year of the bike. They were available at the same time. The model you have with the split seat is actually a slightly different model called the F4i FS, which also features stronger valve springs.
This bike is insane ❤❤❤❤wow
Im buying this bike tomorrow
Arguably one of the best ALL AROUND bike ever made but I'm a very bias Honda guy!!! and yes I have one to...
These roads are out by Tomales Bay, Ca. Thats Marshalls Oyster Farm, so good.
Really well done video!
I had been riding dirt bikes and even my dads Harley as a young teen but I cannot suggest a 600cc bike as anyone first
Manual CCTV great if you want to stretch out the camchain - better to get a new OEM occasionally
I loved that bike
Great review!
@@ahmedhussien3538 it can get hot sometimes if the temperatures up, but since its liquid cooled you should be fine as long as your not stuck in grid lock for a long time
Really liked this video, really thinking of getting this after I just got '08 650r ninja. Wdy think guys ?
I ride the Cbr600f4i, It's a beautiful bike, I always wondered about the buzzing bee kind of sounds at certain RPM, Since i'm somewhat new at riding, it's kind confused me at times, made me think I needed to shift hah, Now I know what that is!
Alexander C. Cariaso I'm new to riding and bought cbr600f4i great bike from what I here it's best to get a manual cam chain tensioner
There's a risk of over tightening and stretching the cam chain with a manual tensioner. Plus it will need future adjustments. The factory one may not be the greatest, its a known maintenance item but it gives you warning as it wears to its limit.
I also have a cbr600f4i and have the same buzzing noise not sure what it was chain and sprocket was changed but the noise still remains...what is it?
I had bike like this, the best ever
I just couldnt justify getting a 300 when ill be bored of it in 6 months xD. My first bike is the 04 CBR600F4i
Soulless Productions was it easy to get used to?
