    Genuine question. Why don't these artistic roller skaters transition to figure skating? There is more money, prestige? They clearly have the talent. Is it access to facilities, how expensive the sport is?

      The skating method is totally different comparing to ice skating when it comes to professional level. You can see top ice skaters cannot do their techniques when they're doing roller skates on youtube.

      From my humble opinion and practice in both disciplines (physical laws) act differently. Also the weather coupled with the facilities available in each country and continent are not the same.

      Artistic roller skate has always been a separate sport, even since the 1940s. Its a very established sport although its not in the Olympics there are disciplines within artistic skating and there are multiple championship competitions
