Rusty nails, doesnt sound like a very good idea. Traditional Chinese method, is to strike sand, a canvas sand bag packed full of beach sand, and or a canvas bag filled with metal BBs. The use of all natural "Dit Da Jow" Iron Fist Lineament, is key to preventing injuries, and creating fast density developments, without any disfigurements issues. Dont use the Synthetic Jow... as it doesnt work. I have experience with both. Real handmade Jow, can completely vanish a swollen injury, in less than 5 minutes. As for practicing Eye strikes... the Opponent should put on swimming goggles, or some other safety glasses that have an elastic strap to keep them from falling off. As for groin strikes... the use of an Athletic Cup, is a good idea. Its still going to be felt, and hurt, but it should help protect things much better. The only other special gear that I tend to use, are Hockey Shin guards.. that have the knee cup attached to them. I think they are for the Goalie position. These allow you to do heavy Leg-Fencing to each other, without too much injury potentials. I prefer barefist sparring. To make it safe.. I stop right at the surface of the target... then right after that, I give a very mild push into the target.. at least 3 inches deep... to prove that I would have had the correct Reach and Depth. This allows you to be able to spar at full speeds, without causing harmful damages. Of course, you can choose to hit the body with power... but use the Push method for barefist hits to the Head. A word of warning... If your fingers are spread open.. they are likely to end up getting Wrenched backwards, and or.. impacted directly.. causing a very painful injury (Jammed finger). This tends to happen when your fingers get struck by the OPs limbs, unintentionally. After three such incidents, I learned to keep all of my fingers together, at all times (with exception of a Claw technique).
