    My day of absolutely IS setting everything up. We’ve discussed her role and it’s in the contract. Around me, I’ve seen many DOC’s say they decorate and set up, not just set stuff out.

      It really depends on the wedding/venue!” Setting-up” can mean something to one person and something different to another, so it’s good to communicate expectations. This way the DOC doesn’t end up being dumped with a lot of tasks they aren’t prepared to accomplish or have the help to complete. I typically set-up at most weddings as well, with the exception of setting up/moving tables and chairs or any type of hanging installations etc.

    So what are we paying a coordinator for?

  • @allisonlax
    @allisonlax 3 года назад +3

    Super helpful! I've hired a month of coordinator for my october wedding and i wondered if i had to tell my coordinators exactly where all the things that need to be "set out" goes? like the seating chart and gift table ect... or will make those decisions themselves?

    • @emilysummer
      @emilysummer  3 года назад +1

      This is really up to you. If you have a specific idea of where you want things to go, definitely work with your coordinator on creating a layout for the space and label where you want things. But if you want them to just use their best judgement, that works too!

    Great video! My mom is a wedding planner and coordinator for a venue and I’m trying to learn more to help her ensure she has a reasonable price structure and in the near future to set up her website and create more of a digital presence. One question for you, have you ever used Loom for wedding forms or do you have any suggestions for digitizing a wedding planner’s business? I’ll be helping her create a website but she doesn’t have time between April and November because she has about 80 weddings/year at that time.

      Also, thank you for the excellent content and it was well presented and prepared. I can tell your extremely knowledgeable about coordinating just when you talk about the importance of the DJ and how the wedding coordinator is a behind-the-scenes person. The best coordinator is almost like the one you didn’t realize you had! 😅

      Thanks Tyler! I have never used Loom, but I currently use a program called Aisle Planner that organizes lots of digital files and planning processes for me and I love it!!

    Hi there! So if a day-of wedding coordinator doesn't set up decor, who does?

    • @emilysummer
      @emilysummer  2 года назад

      So a coordinator will still set-out small decor - signage, place centerpieces if needed, escort cards, etc. But if you have large decor items or extensive decor, you will want to make sure you either are able to set things up the day before, if your venue allows, or have individuals tasked to do so on the day of the wedding (friends, family members, etc). Many coordinations will also offer set-up/decor services in addition to their Coordination services, so definitely something to look into as well!

    what I just learned : dont hire a wedding coordinator

    • @mosntergirlygal
      @mosntergirlygal 3 года назад

      You need to understand the reasons why she says these and what coordinator actually does do to not have the time to do everything else... there is a vendor for every area that Emily touches on. There are boundaries we have to set as coordinators, we can't do everything. So it is YOUR planning that comes down to it, coordinators job is to guide your plans.

      As a coordinator, is it your responsibility to get liquor license/permit for the event?

      A wedding coordinator is such a useful and important tool to have to make your day run smooth. Issues arise and after being in many wedding where the bride didn’t have a coordinator she was bombarded w/ questions from venue staff about timing/logistics or any issues. On your wedding day you don’t want to be bothered w/ this. You want to be enjoying the process not worried about a missing bouquet, not enough ceremony chairs, missing family members during family photos etc. you just want to enjoy your day and let someone else handle the behind the scenes stuff on that day
