Val is such a good teacher. I was engaged for the entire video, whereas in school i would daydream every 3 minutes lmao
same
probably has to do with the desire, if you want to learn it, you'll be attentive and paying attention.
If you don't even know what to do with what you're learning, then it becomes quite boring.
And of course, even the subject you're learning is what you like, the teacher plays a huge role in keeping the students focused, meh, I'm not so sure if whatever I'm saying make sense, but i hope you get it.
That's cause school is filled with lies
@@BVK. I've watched a lot of Serum tutorials. and this guy is unique. He speaks deeply enough about the technical details and takes the time to edit out all the dead time. Plus, he's actually got credibility being an actual producing artist with a lot of success. You can tell why, he clearly puts the work in, works efficiently, and has a passion for learning and experimenting.
@@DJTedRuckspin along with Au5, these two masters are sound design gods!
They tackle the things that regular music producers wouldn't bother, heck, how can they be so creative with their crafts while being extremely technical?
Everytime they showcase their techniques, I'm just blown away.
The Bob Ross of EDM strikes again! Thanks again for making new content for us VR.
1:12 "the recall" drop
5:40 "fork funeral" halftime drop
15:02 "we're not alone 2023 vip weird fills" and also from his recent fb/ig story
15:02 is the weird fills in the We're Not Alone VIP :)
@@VirtualRiot ah yes almost forgot about that.. 😁
@@VirtualRiot, I just want to tell you that you played significant role in my life.
There was an old video of yours called "Halflife symphony" in YT.
It inspired me to start practicing piano and it turn out to be a great passion in my life.
Now I compose and I dive deep in the world of music.
Thank you, brother.

the recall bass technique is honestly SO UNDERRATED. that beat at the end was straight FLAMES
The "fake" reverb is super interesting. Thanks for all the effort you put into the videos my guy!
Im slowly becoming addicted to sound design with magic like this.
loving this episode
sharks in the flesh waow
that dreamy delay patch is inspiring
Now THIS is creative sound design. Applying simple serum stuff in unconventional ways like this is mindblowing.
I only live for Studio Time, your songs had a huge impact in my childhood, love you man !! Wish the best for you, your community and every person that get involved with your life ❤️❤️ !!
yes, the long awaited Space Laces tutorial, amazing!!!🔥
Hey Val just wanted to give you some encouragement and love. You’re doing the right thing and we all support you. Take a step back and Spend time with your family and loved ones and find some peace within yourself. Just remember to keep your head high, looking at the night sky, and know you’re not alone ❤ love ya my dude keep your spirits up and thank you for all that you do for us and keep it pushing!
I'm so happy that you are making these so actively now!🙌
So glad that the series is back🤙🏻 A Studio Tour would also be really cool 😊
watching you experiment and explain the mechanics of sound design is beyond inspiring. iv'e never understood sound more on a fundamental level. keep up the incredible videos man, you're as inspiring a teacher as you are an artist
Finally! I cant wait for these videos to be released everytime. Thanks Val for everything
Very good tutorial! Creative mindset. Love to see some more tricks from you!
we missed you ! love these videos i watch them over nd over again even your older tutorials. always some good nugs of info in them
THANK YOU SO MUCH!I have never seen such a talented artist before! Well Done!
Awesome, one of the best serum videos I've watched and learned a lot
Yooo finally!! I’ve been waiting for the next episode, thank you Val!!
All really interesting, I especially liked that last part with the fake reverb & delay it sounded so cool
The last one is just incredible, I'm speechless. You are truly soundisign wizard
The last tip is funny because digital reverbs are made by combining comb, allpass and some other filters to generate the reverby decay. Melda has a plugin that lets you easily stack filters to make the reverbs yourself.
So Valentin basically just made a discount reverb to avoid using reverb
perfect timing! always love a new studio time :D
So cool! About the fake reverb trick, I did something similar with a fake delay, trying to replicate the sound of Cymatics Lotus, which has a pitched delay. So I used an LFO to modulate the volume up and down after the release, so it would sound like quarter or 8th delays, and another LFO to modulate the coarse pitch up and down in octaves.
I would LOVE to see a PhasePlant episode!!! I've started to get really into it recently and I've made a could very pretty sounds with the new granulator feature they just added.
I´d love to see some Pigments Tutorials as well :) I´m really trying to get into Pigments and use it as my main synth. I really love your content, whatever you make, it´s great anyway ☺ so useful! Thank you for all the effort and your awesome music!
These are super interesting techniques!! Thanks for sharing! Definitely gonna explore the possibilities myself!!
i love that fake reverb effect, i'm going to be using that one the most from these
The remap is so amazing holyyyy
about dang time! these new videos are so inspiring
14:51 said it twice so perfectly the same i thought the video glitched when i was looking away
Oooh I forgot to edit that out hahaha
was so hyped for this episode, always so inpsirin gman thank you for giving us this big of advice and tricks
It took a bit of time but the content really makes up for it! For a recommendation, a tutorial on sample pack design/how you would go about that would be really helpful.
Dude I’ll say it again, like I do every single time I see a video, VR is the best music producer to walk this earth, full stop. He just understands what he’s doing. A lot of producers just tweak shit till it slaps, this dude KNOWS why he’s doing what he’s doing, why it works, what it affects, why it affects it, why the outcome he gets is the way it is. Never ceases to blow my mind. You’re the best dude!
At this point dude's a scientist
Last technique is a mind-blowing stuff! ❤
man, his fake reverb and delay, really reminds me of that granular barbie synth he made at that old studio time, always making cool stuff vr!!!
I love these episodes ❤❤
Amazing episode. Loved it
If you want to know more about the bit stuff, it's called Coherent Detection in Digital Communication Systems. The sub-topics are Phase-Shift Keying, Frequency-Shift Keying, and Amplitude-Shift Keying.
I also noticed that Serum allows for entering of formulas into the Oscillator Table Editor...you might be able to plug in some related to digital communication theory. Not sure if anything cool will pop out. I'm gonna give it a try.
Another spot to find interesting formulas to plug into serum is in an elements of electromagnetics textbook. You already know you can relate musical notes to the electromagnetic spectrum (light for instance as you've mentioned)
But did you know that the speed of light changes based on the medium you're in? So you can plug in a formula related to the e-mag spectrum of a musical note in the context of being underwater to generate a waveform...say in relation to how that note would change the magnetic field of the medium it's in.
Fun idea, not sure how practical it is.
❤ thank you for what you do
thanks always virtual Riot!! I would know about vocal mix after made a track of edm. because it was very useful about mixing and mastering of edm track. I hope you see this.
I've been checking every day for the next studio time, I listen to VR tutorials at work when I get bored of music. Today's the day I don't check, and here it is! I will be less bored for an hour tomorrow xD
25:09 That sound reminds me of the ringtone in Cyberpunk. Lol
My jaw was on the floor the whole video like how the what the who thinks of this? legendary content my friend. Studio time with VR is THE BEST!
this is so good for color bass
protect this man at all costs
Always the best tuts and doggo is a nice doggy too
Fastest click of my life.
super interesting techniques...thank you for the video. Just a another thing you can do in the wavetable editor that I haven't seen that much on RUclips is the ability to put math formulas into the formula parser (text field in the right bottom corner). I typically use this for creating bells. I discovered several formulas for theses sounds, but one really clean is the following formula :
[sin(x*pi*15)/tan(x*pi*33)]
After that just put this Osc one Octave down, put a sine/triangle as second Osc and the standard Env Shape / Low Pass for pluck sounds and you got yourself a super clean and organic Bell sound.
PS:
with the formula above you can exchange the "sin" and/or "tan" into other trigonometric function (e.g. cos). And you can edit the two numbers (for more useful results the first should be smaller than the second one).
Just insane stuff! Love it!
I love to hear your nostalgic Intro again :D
This should be the tutorial G Jones watched for his sound design, thx bro that's insane !
God damn the Pigment wavetable manipulation is a total gamechanger😱
Thank you. You’re a legend
This is amazing. I tripped balls probably 50 times while listening to earth and sky, & this is my first time seeing you on camera lol honerable mentions to evil game boy and haunted
I was waiting for new video ........ Finallyyyy
Vielen Dank für die Tipps!
Ich werde damit definitiv rumexperimentieren
Das video ist so unfassbar nützlich, Danke!
Virtual Riot you gotta do more serum tutorial ... I´m getting way more better on dubstep songs cuz of you... Love you !!

Yooo just wanted to say the mr bill remixes were sick ❤
Great sounds thx!!!!
Please, make a tutorial on creating a sound like in the live intro on LostLands. I think many will be interested to hear about the creation of pads and other atmospheric scenes. Love You and Your Tutorials So Mush
YEa!!!! Studio Time w/ Virtual Riot. Hell yeah babe!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
😃
He’s back!
damn the pigment wavetable technique went crazy!
When you made the first Serum pack I got the idea from you to use Remap. I made a pack and released it with Total Samples in a few months as well lol
Love watching these tutorials, maybe make some vital presets?
UR BACK OMG😊
Thanks for showing me Remap modulation.
I didn't use it because I couldn't understand how it works. But I understand now when you showed a simple example with two frames in one.
In parallel with the video, I made a super fat sound. >:[=]
Serum Haxx is my new favorite music genre
Love u so much, you are such an inspiration 💜
HES BACK
i like the bgm you used at the beginning of the video
very fun video as always
just a note about 10:37, the asym- warp mode is actually asymmetrically pushing the waveform, which - in the case of the 4 separate segments, makes the first two segments longer and the second two shorter. It's still keeping the table itself looping at the same tempo, but is being timestretched within that loop
i haven't messed around with this concept much, but i'm not sure if serum has a real-time formant shift for the osc tables, so if anyone knows pls say cause that would be amazing to have
Thank You Man
love you bro
Would actually love an episode about phase plant!
YOU ARE THE BEST WE LOVE UUUUUUUU!!!!!!!
This is interesting I didn’t know you could do some of these things
i wish you can go through some DJ stuff, would love to learn from the best 💜
"Today's gonna be a quick one!" Still 26 minutes, nice.
Love a good val video
at 24:04 this man just casually played the beginning of a glass animals song
