As someone who lives in a country where I don’t have a choice but to wear a helmet, it’s nice to see someone in this online community actually promoting their use. Love you Dusty
I dont know why but the 'anticipation/suspense' music you were playing (like when you mentioned the air pump) sounds so much like the Resident Evil 6 title screen music.
Safety Tip: Doug, try your best to ride safe and when coming to a full stop use your foot instead of your helmet. Then little need for a helmet because cycling is actually a safe activity. Additionally, avoid racing in a group.
Also kids! When you buy your helmet, get one with MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection, to minimize rotational energy transfer to your melon/neck if you hit your head) AND ask about the manufacturer's "Crash Replacement Program". If you bust your lid, better manufacturers will offer a significant discount on a replacement (proof of purchase, yada yada yada). There's no reason to ride with a shit helmet. Fun vid, big ride!
Maybe you can get my late wife a replacement skull where the helmet fractured it and killed her Styrofoam uncertified crap is a false sense of security its too thick on the side so if you hit sideways it pushes into your skull they are a joke
Was Doug hiding to make your ride more epic? Important caveat: The "change every few years" advice does not apply to helmet safety, only to usability. The EVA foam (main safety structure in all helmets) is proven to last for literal decades. It does not care about sweat, weather, or UV light.
It's not a scam. Improvements in usability do happen over time. You get better adjustments, cooling, and weight in a cheapo modern helmet than in high end gear from a decade ago. But strictly in terms of safety, there is no need to replace an undamaged helmet.
Both my cycling helmet and my motorcycle helmet are almost 10 years old and I'm just fine with that. I think a lot of this is just hype. If it hasn't had an impact and you take care of it then it's good. I'm so skeptical these days of the industry and the riders pushing each other to spend money.
@@matthewshaw3747 nah I'm good. I would bet my life savings that most people have helmets that are 5 years old and good for them they haven't been pressured into saturating the overpriced cycling market with money.
Hahaha change the helmet every three to five years even if it hasn't had a big impact? What marketing bs of course they want to sell more helmets while convincing you to throw away a perfectly good helmet. And who cares about the environment? Yeah just throw it away Jack! I've crashed with my bike and my helmet took the impact with the ground and saved my skull. The helmet is scratched and has a slight impact bump where it hit the ground, it is not cracked. I examined it closely and it's still structurally sound, strong and in one solid piece. Doesn't flex or make squeaky noises when I force it with my hands. I won't throw it away just because I read or heard somewhere that I should. I have a brain and I tend to use it to make my own decisions. My helmet is ready for the next one. If it cracks I'll replace it the following day. 🤓⛑️
Doug getting a new but sweaty helmet made me anxious all through this one.
Been off the grid for 2 weeks, finally back - and of course your channel is the first one I dove into 😀. Another awesome episode!!
Welcome back! Hope you had a re energizing break.
I wasn't going to buy a new road jersey but I'm drooling over the LS House Jersey. You have excellent taste.
Appreciate you bud!
The drama! The suspense! The local legends!

I had the first RE on PS1 and I couldn’t play it when I was alone. It was to scary 🤣😂
I like Drew’s lil animation bumper at the end.
He’s the best!!
I think this might just be an episode of Portlandia? Your buddy in the white Scott helmet and striped jersey even looks like Fred Armisen.
We love Freds
Haha dude 3:46 is great. Love the theatrics DK. Way to keep it fresh!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This video made me smile 😊 Keep riding!

Have one of those Trek ones with the magnetized snap. Don't think I could go back.

No Doug was decomposing hidden in a ditch, wasn't discovered until a week after he went missing.

So much tension on this one ! 😳
Glad you saved Doug!
The visor gets more fresh air too
This is one of bikings crowning conspiracies! And I have a feeling the LID's about to get blown off!
Oh god... If you hear a groan right about now, it's just me over in Scandinavia, groaning
Spreading that good knowledge about helmets! The faster you ride, the better your helmet needs to be!
Very true!
This must have been one of those shortcuts only the locals know about.
LMAO!
you need to upgrade to one of those garmin devices with solar charging.
Love Doug
DOUG DANGER!!!

These are some great tips!! Good looking out! Thanks for sharing.
How come people in Amsterdam don't use helmets? And there's a lot of bikes there and traffic! 🙄
Good question
Doug is like the luckiest guy in the world right now.
So glad he's alive ;)
He has a pre sweet
Love you Dustin.
Yeah man, helmets are important. I’ve had three friends get hit by cars and the two without helmets both had cracked skulls.
This is tragic!
I should add, they all lived and are able to ride bikes again.
*Dude, Where's My Doug?
Bawahahahah King of Comments!
Did they go and put Sauvie's Island between your house and downtown?
It was a long and treacherous Journey
