- What's the next billion dollar business that you can build on top of ChatGPT? We’re seeing a rush of developers create gimmicky, thin UI layers wrapped around ChatGPT that have limited staying power. And this is literally what other RUclips videos are recommending. Don’t get me wrong, if you want to try to make a quick buck or a small lifestyle business that’s one of thousands, there’s nothing wrong with that. But if you really want to take a big swing to change the world, it’s not by rushing to pan the same river for gold as everyone else - it’s by going where no else will dare venture. As the legendary Peter Thiel likes to say: Competition is for losers.
And with this new AI technology comes the opportunity of a lifetime. Historically, the biggest trillion dollar companies have always been built on top of new technology platform shifts. The rise of broadband internet spawned Google and Amazon, the rise of mobile led to Uber.
I’m a venture capitalist at SignalFire and formerly Keliner Perkins, funds that have invested in companies like Google, Amazon, and more recently Grammarly, Ro, and others. Here’s my take on what can be the next Google-scale opportunity, building on top of the AI gold rush happening right now.

Any other ideas you think could be the next big thing built on top of ChatGPT (or any other foundation models like Llama, Midjourney, etc?)
I look at two bars, innovation and productivity. Productivity always follows innovation behind and will never catch up, and innovation/ideas never stop. Nobody gets replaced by productivity/automation. There is only reallocation of resources. Innovation feeds productivity and vice versa.

Quick question for you Wayne.
Does your company fund new startups with just ideas or you fund startups with a product, traction, and the right team. I have a world changing idea which is to incorporate Chat GPT into music streaming.
We typically fund companies once they have demonstrated some level of an unfair advantage in a massive new area, which to your point can be team, could be unique insight/product related, etc
Do you think Google is in a good position to leverage AI in future?
Absolutely!! Their organizational bloat and risk aversion re: compliance is really their only weakness

Yo man this is insane. but you really need to change your thumbnail cause the quality of it is really bad, not gonna lie I wasn't going to watch but decided why not and seeing the first minute I can see this is interesting. seeing your edits in the video and the quality of them is insane

@Wayne Hu no bother man :). definitely a better picture of you since its so blurry. In the title since your saying a billion dollar business somehow add that into thumbnail but that might be bit too much and it'll overcrowd it. I don't know but you want it to be more visually appealing for people to click on so adding money or the dollar sign, I really don't know but that's my opinion
Keep in mind I'm on my phone, so the quality can be different for desktop but I think theirs a website that where you can upload your thumbnail and it shows it in different ratios can't remember the name but I definitely know its there :)
