Have to say this is a near perfect instructional video. Thank you. Great filming, narration is the perfect pitch, right balance of explaining how it works and how to fix it, no showing off or flannelling…. There are so many on you tube that could learn from your style- and you fixed my Howard rotavator!

This is among the finest videos. My Cub 1250 is re-powered to low-hour sweet-running Kohler Twin 17II - that's why I bought it in March for $100. Tractor was in the ding weeds: abandoned, lonely and forlorn. Carburetor full of ethanol gum - all the usual suspects. The re-power forced a rerouting now too long and differently approaching throttle cable. I've never studied governor theory, and even w my service manual I remained confused. Pack Rat here explains the competing forces: fixed throttle position, governor and spring. Governor and spring are in a lovely, delicate balance. My adjustment is a long way from refined but it's made a well-running 1975 Cub. Pretty forgiving. My considerable thanks, Mr Pack Rat. You have a lot to offer. Keep posting.

There is what the book says and then there is reality. The book is about a brand new virgin setup. None of these old tractors are virgins no matter what they say. But, an old guy with capable hands can put her back the way she used to be.
Very good job my friend and right good explaining too - and filming. You should write your own text books - but I suppose you are doing that right here on YT.

enjoy watching your videos I have a 350 Howard K141 rotator. For about 30 years I want to get it going. It’s a shame that these old machines are getting less and less I have put new points condenser coil and spark plug while ago I had to replace the Conrad but since then it hasn’t started up. I don’t know how to get the right timing, can you help me please?

Setting the point gap to .020 should get the timing within range for it to run. After that you can adjust the point gap to change the timing some. I have a video describing this process using an automotive timing light on a Kohler K91 engine, the process would be the same for a K141. Search for my video called "Kohler K-series Ignition Timing w/a Timing Light: K91, K141, K161, " or use this link: ruclips.net/video/miD_k3Z9_b4/видео.htmlsi=L5OnZWnebWKxiegP

Greetings from Chile, I have a Kohler Magnum 10 engine, can you help me which carburetor I should install and what model of engine it is to request spare parts, K301, K181 or another model, thanks for the information.

Hi, the magnum series of engines came after the K series engines so they are a little different. Your magnum 10 should have a decal on the flywheel cover, on the carburetor side. It should show the Model number, Spec number, and Serial number. Those are the numbers you should use to find a carburetor, you need all three. If the numbers are not there all you can do is ask for parts for a Kohler Magnum 10. The Magnum 10 and Magnum 12 both use the same size carburetor. You can search for Kohler Magnum 10 carburetor on the internet. Try to buy one that has the choke and throttle linkages that hook up the same way as your old one.

I did everything that you explained in the video and I can't get it to Rev high the governor just keeps putting the linking to idle. Please help

it sounds like the throttle needs to put more pressure on the spring to overcome the governor. Make sure the throttle cable is not running out of travel, or try changing the cable mount to allow the cable to move farther.
