I've always noticed that only a few fighters in the UFC show extreme talent in certain aspects of striking. For example, I've seen guys in the UFC that couldn't punch to save their life when compared to a boxer, and guys who couldn't kick worth anything when compared to a kickboxer. It's not because they are bad fighters, but it's because when they train they have to focus on so many more techniques and styles of fighting as opposed to just one.
@westjt17 The Gracies introduced BJJ in UFC's infancy, in which thier opponents were weekend warriors and a small handful of full time fighters(Ken Shamrock). It was more of an exhibition of BJJ versus different styles that only relied on stand up fighting. But now that UFC has evolved with dedicated fighters that round out their fight game practicing in both stand up/grappling arts. Now I'm not saying that the Gracies or BJJ are a joke. But there were advantages the Gracies had in UFC.
Well he didn't get killed, actually he did quite well if you ask me. Especially in the finale of Ultimate Fighter. Kimbo seems like a real down to earth guy and he has said it himself: "I'm still a baby at the game"
MMAreporter - funny post. I know there's a lot of speculation as to whether or not that fight was legit. It seemed alright to me. But me and my friends were wondering about that ear even before the fight!
yeah probably. However Kimbo does have strong punches, but any good Jiu jitsu guy will take him to the ground, utilize his weakness and submission time. Jiu jitsu was actually made to defeat larger opponents when its user was either not as large, or big and not as muscular.
I believe the agreement was no "ground grappling". Since Gannon used a standing choke that isn't "ground grappling". End result, Kimbo and his people agreed to something and once the fight started and they didn't like the way it was going they chose to complain.
that was a great fight. Matt got hit in the ballz but ref didnt see he took a HUGE Beating and was in a rear naked choke survived it and Pounds trigg and then chokes him was an amazing fight. Thats what made me a hughes fan that guy has heart
Exactly man, but some of them just don' t train hard. It's become more of a fad to train less with MMA fighters. I've trained at a few MMA gyms, and I'll tell ya, you're gonna have to train on your own as far as getting in shape. Not many MMA gyms put emphasis on the important things. That's why I belive boxings elite can go 12 rounds, throwing 70 power punches a round, and still be able to stand without staggering.
theres only one thing i wanna point out, and that is that the Kimbo vs. Gannon fight was Kimbo's most controversial fight... mostly because big rules were broken - there were kicks and there were knees to the head... thats not a straight foward fight and in my opnion i cant say that either of them won that fight
The ultimate fighter is the experience and toughness of a TRUE street fighter, that has trained years of MMA. So Basically mix them together, and you got a perfect fighter.
there actually has been one fatality in a sanctioned mma fight. some guy named Vargas in a small indie show in texas in 07 sometime i think. if you look at ufc, youll notice starting around that time the refs started to stop fights a little quicker on average than they used to
He and the Fertitta's pretty much saved MMA and turned it into what you see today though. He has every right to act like he plays a dominant role in the future of MMA, because he does.
i watched most of them, and mir always gave credit to lesnar for his size, strength and athleticism.only point where mir trash talked was when the fact that he beat lesnar in their first bout came up, and how lesnar was relatively inexperienced compared to him..and that really isn't all that bad.
Im glad to see Dana and Tito have talked to eachother and finally become friends. This will make Dana more populare and Tito a better fighter i hope even tho he lost to Forrest. But i gotta say it was not a bad comeback. And yeah btw Kimbo Slice sux
after all those leg kicks it did affected kimbo legs all Alexander needed is to finish with a strong leg kick and get 1 or 2 more rounds then Alexander would of just pure wrestled him put him in the ground and pound since kimbo has not too much defense since his leg dmg Or he could of used foot works move around just to strike him mix it up since kimbo could not move quickly to catch him
What you say is true, alot of Kimbo fans assume hes the best for beating up 3 glass jaw people, and non-experianced people. And again i agree, given Kimbos age, and the time it could take for him to actually get better, he won't be around for long. Plus once Kimbo loses will be interesting, he can't go undefeated forever.
Kimbo is a humble guy, and admits he is still learning. He shouldn't be hated. But also hes not ready for the UFC, in fact if he went now, he'd get murdered. He needs alot of work on the ground, he has decent striking, but a horrible ground game. Anyway I heard Kimbo will be fighting Brett "Grim" Rogers sometime in September. Cant wait :)
by came a long way i meant hes improved alot of his skills. If you've seen recent videos of him training you would know. I'm not gonna say much else so just watch the next ultimate fighter season and we'll see.
He lost by TKO to Petruzelli. The ref stopped it after Slice went down a few seconds in and Petruzelli went to town on him. Slice seemed to be protesting after the stoppage so maybe it was stopped early - I dunno though. The ref had a damn good view of things - the only two who could see better were the fighters.
Point is collegiate wrestling is one dimensional just like the queen's boxing. I wouldn't expect a champion boxer to step into MMA and get a top level fight right away. At least with organized street fighting there are all aspects of combat. I think after Kimbo fights 2 moor times he should get a top level fight in the UFC.
IF Kimbo fought in the UFC as he did when he was a street fighter he would of got murdered. However, he got good and sufficient training from Bas Rutten and was able to beat some people such as Tank Abbot.
@2ossy It may be a sport, but it's a sport that has individuals competing. It's not like football or baseball where an individual player can hurt the dynamics of a team. Dana was able to afford a freak show and keep him in the lower stables and see if Kimbo can truly sink or swim in UFC giving him some kind of benefit of the doubt. Like you I didn't agree with Dana giving Kimbo a shot, but I do understand why he did it.
One thing MMA has shown the world is that anybody can lose to anyone. Kimbo was still green and wet behind the ears, with more training and experience, I still think he can be the heavyweight champion of UFC.
hmm anyways lets just say our favorite fights instead of bitchin at eachother no matter the fighting thing just whats ur fave fight mine would have to be Minitauro vs Fedor
MMA and Boxing are completely two different styles. In MMA, there's so many different ways to get knocked out. In boxing, there is only certain places you can punch. Boxing in more limited in striking, therefore, boxing is more (to me) talented, it takes more thinking and patience to win a fight. I'm not hating on on MMA, I am a fan of it, but from what I've experinced, boxing is more difficult even though punching is only involved.
sean gannon fought some body who fought again and it was against jeff monson, monson won but the guy was not never heard or seen again if he fought monson and gannon first
From the words of the old school kickboxer and former UFC competitor, Patrick Smith, "If you can't fight on the ground, then you can't fight." Therfore Jet Li wouldn't stand a chance.
You probably made one of the smartest post on this video. No matter if Kimbo is good or bad, he would bring in more money than anyone person on the UFC current roster, especially had he not lost one fight. Honestly though I feel as though there aren't that many people on youtube that could go toe to toe with Kimbo Slice and say they would win. People always talk about what someone else can or can not do. I respect Kimbo because he made a lot of money off his hard-work and hustle.

"my life is so, fun i hate to sleep... " i love it =D
"tito ortiz, i cant stand him"
"kimbo will get killed in UFC"
Dana keeping it real in UFC lol
They were selling Tapout Kimbo Slice shirts at Ross for $5
I purchased a waterbed without financing
Appreciate the bluntness of him. Answers everything straightforward.
Great interview
kimbo hasnt fought anyone big and well known in the ufc
The argeement was for no "ground grappling". The choke was in the standing position therefore, within the rules.
I hope there will be a UFC in Calgary/Edmonton in the near future. Here's to hoping!
Rip Kimbo lmao Dana was on spikes documentary of kimbos life yesterday talking bout "I actually liked kimbo alot"
I've always noticed that only a few fighters in the UFC show extreme talent in certain aspects of striking. For example, I've seen guys in the UFC that couldn't punch to save their life when compared to a boxer, and guys who couldn't kick worth anything when compared to a kickboxer.

Love Dana! Gatta love someone whos not afraid to speak his mide! Even about UFC fighters!!!

I actually met Dana's mother in Hampton beach NH the other night, wicked nice lady. VERY kind and sweet.
The Ultimate Fighter 10 and Sons Of Anarchy are the two best shows on tv.
Well he didn't get killed, actually he did quite well if you ask me. Especially in the finale of Ultimate Fighter. Kimbo seems like a real down to earth guy and he has said it himself: "I'm still a baby at the game"
ufc is feet work
MMAreporter - funny post. I know there's a lot of speculation as to whether or not that fight was legit. It seemed alright to me. But me and my friends were wondering about that ear even before the fight!
could anyone tell me whats dana favorite or best figth for him i didn`t get it what fight hes talking too
He's brutally honest.
yeah probably. However Kimbo does have strong punches, but any good Jiu jitsu guy will take him to the ground, utilize his weakness and submission time.

well hes right about having frank and ken fight each other cause elite xc is going to have it sometime in april.
that was a great fight. Matt got hit in the ballz but ref didnt see he took a HUGE Beating and was in a rear naked choke survived it and Pounds trigg and then chokes him was an amazing fight. Thats what made me a hughes fan that guy has heart
Matt Hughes-Frank Trigg II was exciting as hell!
i guess we have to wait and see

“Tito Ortiz leaving the UFC really means nothing to me, not to mention the fact that I can’t stand him” 😂😂😂😂
Dana seems way more chill this interview.
Dana talks real talk about fighting and fighters.
matt hughes vs. frank trigg, the second time they fought. it was on the UFC 52 card.
Kimbo beat brock in a secret underground fight last year.
No he didn’t
Interesting interview!! White gave very honest and direct answers to some great questions!
Can't measure one man by another man's fight.
It'd be interesting to see Kimbo in the UFC with those heavyweights.
theres only one thing i wanna point out, and that is that the Kimbo vs. Gannon fight was Kimbo's most controversial fight... mostly because big rules were broken - there were kicks and there were knees to the head... thats not a straight foward fight and in my opnion i cant say that either of them won that fight
whens ufc coming to vancouver BC???
you 200 % right about that
The ultimate fighter is the experience and toughness of a TRUE street fighter, that has trained years of MMA.

i love kimbo..dudes a erfect example of ur not too old to follow your dreams as long as your healthy
i see some of his fights hes crazy good ..he should be in the ufc

That slam and mount was pretty convincing... he is growing into a better fighter tho
yeah i agree with you but he shows no repect until the fighters get a contract he treats them like crap ..
kimbo is goin to be on the next ultimate fighter it will be cool to watch
he WAS in ufc .. first fight KO 1 round super fast .. but hes going in boxing now ...
@carmodifire yea standing up he was great and very unique, but adapting doesnt mean u automatically kno wat 2 do wen u get thrown in a triangle choke
Wow now I feel like an idiot, lol.
He and the Fertitta's pretty much saved MMA and turned it into what you see today though. He has every right to act like he plays a dominant role in the future of MMA, because he does.
my point exactly, Kimbo is no mixed martial artist
Why his voice sound like that? Somebody changed the audio
i watched most of them, and mir always gave credit to lesnar for his size, strength and athleticism.only point where mir trash talked was when the fact that he beat lesnar in their first bout came up, and how lesnar was relatively inexperienced compared to him..and that really isn't all that bad.

not if he gets taken down or the guy is standing away from him and kicking
DAMN RIGHT. Hughes-Trigg 2 is the greatest fight I've ever seen.
what did he say? matt hughes vs who?
dana ALWAYS says "listen"
Street fighters can't make it in the cage, but cage fighters can make it in the streets! Kimbo proved that for us:)
kimbo is a beast!!!
Kimbo is a humble guy, and admits he is still learning. He shouldn't be hated. But also hes not ready for the UFC, in fact if he went now, he'd get murdered. He needs alot of work on the ground, he has decent striking, but a horrible ground game.

I love that Dana White has no issues telling it like it is! Well said comments that all come off as extremely accurate.
by came a long way i meant hes improved alot of his skills. If you've seen recent videos of him training you would know. I'm not gonna say much else so just watch the next ultimate fighter season and we'll see.

For sure.
Dana is a great speaker. He sounds honest
the other guy is frank trigg. great fight that lasted less than one round.

At least with organized street fighting there are all aspects of combat. I think after Kimbo fights 2 moor times he should get a top level fight in the UFC.
kimbo vs dana would be a pretty good fight
By the way WHERE IZ KIMBO AFTER PETH FIGHT, NO INTERVIEW OR NO BODY EVER HEARD FROM HIM? WTH?
i have to say alexandar had a pretty good game plan
who here july 2020
IF Kimbo fought in the UFC as he did when he was a street fighter he would of got murdered. However, he got good and sufficient training from Bas Rutten and was able to beat some people such as Tank Abbot.
Can't blame that on MMA.
Kimbo and Houston Alexander both almost died in their fight.
@2ossy It may be a sport, but it's a sport that has individuals competing. It's not like football or baseball where an individual player can hurt the dynamics of a team. LMFAO 2:44 I really wish it could be regulated in Toronto too
who will be in tuf 10 bro?
@Vortes Thank You!! Well put!! Kimbo Slice, go have another cheeseburger!! lol
kimbo needs a ground game and he will be a respected fighter but he also needs a better standing game its good but it can b better
Anything can happen with one homerun punch, but I still agree with Dana. Kimbo is a stand up fighter he should go into boxing ... PERIOD
there is no serious injuries in boxing cause of big gloves.
look at every mma fight - lots of blood and stuff, broken ribs, fists, foots etc..
One thing MMA has shown the world is that anybody can lose to anyone. Kimbo was still green and wet behind the ears, with more training and experience, I still think he can be the heavyweight champion of UFC.
@Blacomerjo
"my favorite fight ever in the history of the UFC, or boxing, or anything ever was Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg 2" (second match).
hmm anyways lets just say our favorite fights instead of bitchin at eachother no matter the fighting thing just whats ur fave fight mine would have to be Minitauro vs Fedor
MMA isnt even sanctioned in ontario yet, so itll be awhile. Although there seems to be progress being made on the issue
Kimbo slice will knock Dana white out

as much as everyone or alot of people hate tito ortiz... he holds the longest title record holder in the ufc history
he did use kicks, that's how he got Kimbo down. His back was against the cage, and he did a front kick I think.
i agree elitexc doesnt have competition like UFC
I agree 100% with Dana about Kimbo. Hes a good boxer, but that wont get u far in the mma world.
