Did a bit of this type of art when i was about 8 yrs old at school. As a young boy who wasn't much into school, art was the one subject that i did enjoy, even though i couldn't draw at all. I can remember clearly even today how happy i was at my lino block print of a sailing ship.
Jess is an awesome teacher! I searched thru your uploads for more of Jess but sigh.. Please consider doing a whole series of your lino techniques! Love the camera work too.
Really awesome hand-printing demo, but you need a larger roller to avoid unwanted lines in your print; it gives you a nice and even coat, and also helps you avoid putting too much ink on your block.
thanks that was really helpful ... I'm stating my first piece of linoleum and was looking for pointers for printing after I got the cutting finished .... this was perfect and the first video I actually watched .... :-)
+Marcus Alleyne Make sure to learn about registration which unfortunately this tutorial skiped over. There are a few printmaking books that should get you straight.
+Rob Ford I've actually been able to do a few different linocuts since my comment ...fortunately I also made a ton of mistakes so I'm actually progressing more from learning from my errors than if I had learned everything from the beginning lol
I REALLY NEED TO KNOW the name of the rounded tool used in printing at the back of the paper, i'm looking for it , i'm pretty sure it affects the print pretty well!
Está haciendo linograbado, es linóleo lo que ha utilizado para hacer la matriz de impresión....se usan gubias para realizar el grabado y puedes usar tinta tipo offset con base grasa o de la tinta que ella usa me parece que es speedball.
+Gunnar Lloyd because it opens the fibres of the paper and allows the ink to penetrate the paper rather than just sitting on the surface. you have to be careful not to overdamp the paper because then it will reject the oil based ink

Thanks for making this video. I was missing something in my prints and your technique helped. Love the lino cut you made!

Thanks for the video. Quick question: what is the weight of the watercolor paper you're using?

Tks Jessica..nice demo. What was your linoleum block size?
Hi, do you use cold or hot pressed watercolour paper? Thanks x
What is the first song in the video? The one you listed “Winter Song” by The Head and The Heart is the second song playing near the end of the video.
I REALLY NEED TO KNOW the name of the rounded tool used in printing at the back of the paper, i'm looking for it , i'm pretty sure it affects the print pretty well!
Baren

Why does she put ungloved fingers all over the paper while trying to buff it?
Great video! Thanks!
cool, may I know what's the music playing in the background? :)
+Dionne Yap that's the head and the heart!!! winter song
Wooden spoon actually works a lot better for burnishing.
its looks good.very good,thats cool.
Are you using oil or acrylic ?
Oil based block printing ink.
nice video. very talented. i would like to start this style of art....its so funny how im watching this in Afghanistan
If the ink is oil based, then why would adding water to the paper take the ink easier?
+Gunnar Lloyd because it opens the fibres of the paper and allows the ink to penetrate the paper rather than just sitting on the surface. you have to be careful not to overdamp the paper because then it will reject the oil based ink
The print looks fantastic though :)
Great! Thanks for share
Great, thanks!
Great video, thanks :) About to attempt my first one :)
@rtistichick Thanks special tools help! Always open to getting better! Haven't found a bigger roller at my art stores though.

Things are getting complicated once you want to make multi-color linoprint. Great video anyway.

child abuse
Nice... but you need some work on your drawing. But I'm sure that will develop as you go along. Keep it up.
