- Discover the incredible Octobass - the largest and deepest-sounding string instrument in the world! Standing over 11 feet tall, the Octobass produces notes so low they're almost below human hearing. thank god i aint the only one who experienced this
i almost thought my headphone was broken
no cause i thought i was the only one hearing that

nah its opposite for me
PEOPLE GOTTA STOP SAYING STUFF I WAS BOUTA SAY
This fish is so big it pushed the narrator all the way over into my left ear
ikr bro i hate it 😭
@@Mootcubes Yeah idk what happened,
I don't understand. When did he call it a fish? :
@@randomstuffprod. he pronounced it like the bass fish
idk if thats the correct pronounciation or not
Seeing the ledger lines gave me a heart attack
Not me im a tuba
@@aaronadavis1 as a fellow tuba it gave me a heart attack.
@@mridiot57 real though i said that to be sarcastic but those are scary af
fr, like just put in 15vb
@@MemeAsylumFan NEVER put 8vb or 15vb marks on tuba sheets. Their brains memorize the ledger lines and the respective notes. I have witnessed this firsthand.
1. pronounced “octo-base”
2. c1 is the lowest note a double bass can play, c0 is an octave below. all the octobasses happened to be tuned differently, so some do have a low note of c1, another i think goes to a0(lowest piano key)
I was going to say much of the same stuff. Another thing to add; a standard “base” would only be tuned down to an E, with some of them having an extension to a low B.
Is downtuning really that hard on an acoustic? On my eletric bass i can safely go down to B although the strings will be a little sloppy and the sound get muddier. Not counting 5 strings @@XMAN2379
A double bass is tuned to E1 if im not mistaken, not C1
@@Jodus_MacGotuss E1 A1 D2 G2
Lowest note on double bass is E in standard tuning of EADG (low to high), so C is not correct. Only if the player loosens up the E string to go lower hypothetically. But if lower is desired, the better option is to use a 5 string bass with a lower B.
Imagine transporting one of these to your next gig 💀
Imagine the hate you'd get on the subway!
People load up massive speakers and $10,000 lights. I'm pretty sure they'd find a way to transport this.

Yes. I was slightly cringing the whole time 😭

it's the french for "bass" (basse)
but fish is definitely funnier 🤔
I don't understand. When did he call it a fish? :
@ he said bass as in the fish not the instrument. They sound just a tiny bit different.
My left ear loved this somewhat inaccurate information
NAH THEY HEARTED THIS COMMENT
@elisejh5059 Music education is something really special
Pipe organ is probably a better way to get down that low and have any volume and resonance
Exactly my thought when I heard that it's not heard as a sound but rather felt as a vibration and that's exactly what pipe organ pedals are the best at with the benefits of literally everything the organ offers!
my left ear really liked this
Plot twist: Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume was actually holding the octobass in the picture. He's like thirty feet tall
Octo, meaning "eight"
Bass, meaning "fish"
It was the first stringed instrument to use fish as an essential component. Eight fresh-caught fish were placed inside of the cavity before final assembly, using the destinct characteristics of stench molecules to amplify and carry the lower tones for audiences. Common knowledge of this fact is why the sound of a foghorn/fish monger's dirigible are played in cartoons and other classic media to signify stinky things.
As a person who plays the double bass, the lowest note on a double bass is not C but instead E.
Basses can get something called a C string extension, which extends the E string longer (so that it is comically over the scroll) to a low C. You won’t see writing for this in student pieces very often, but it is almost required for mainstream performance
The octobass is also tuned to C0, not C1. Although, can't you downtune a double bass?
Also if you have a 5 string upright bass your lowest note is a B0
He did say "almost" an octave... 🤷
@@The_Copper_Element_Itself you can. I tune my E string to a C on my baroque bass.

or make videos yourself!
Doesn't address the fact that this one wasn't proofed before he put his name on it.
Man, I know my left headphone is working lol
How evil of a villain one must be to have this played for
“yo so i could just make any instrument by just upscaling a violin” -said every orchestral string inventor
The octobass, much like the upright bass, is a transposing instrument where it is pitched an octave lower than written, making that C2 a C1. However, the 4 string upright goes down to an E1, not a C1 (The standard 5 string bass goes down to a B0). The octobass only has 3 strings, a C2 (C1), G1 (G0), and C1 (C0) string, meaning its lowest note is actually a C0. This video reads as an AI copy pasting the octobass's wikipedia page.

Well done bro. Amazing 🎉
I could hear the frequencies of the note and have perfect pitch, He played F-E-F-D (Dies Irae Motif)
Cool, thanks for the info. 🙂
I don’t have perfect pitch and noticed the Dies Irae right away
The lowest note, (C1), is actually one octave lower than written, so it's a C0

32 LEGER LINES! Insane
Impressive. Now, lets make it electric and give It metal distortion
Never heard of this until now
Damn that orchestra near the end got a whole fleet of it
That is no fish dude. This is is octo-bass not a largemouth with eight tentacles

octo-"base" :) I saw this in performance with the OSM when it was first purchased.
That is a MASSIVE instrument
I feel like this would be easier to play than other orchestral string instruments
That would be the scariest instrument to have a string break

You’re not fooling me, that’s just a NORMAL sized string bass being played by an oompa loompa 🤨
I just wanna see someone tune the thing.
Brilliant! Gonna need a whole bass clef for that beast! 😅🤣😎👌🏻 Brilliant!
those ledger lines are haunting me 😭
They triggered my fight or flight
I dare someone to write a piece including it for a marching band.
Basically double bass for a giant

Scientifically accurate T-rex noises be like:
C2 on the Double Bass is the same Low C pf a Cello. C1 on the Double Bass is possible with an Extension. An Extension is an attachment for the Double Bass which allows Basses to play lowers down to a B1 on a piano. This Extension it sits on top of the tuners or scroll of the double bass. Without the Extension the Double Bass’s lowest note is E1.
Band teacher: it’s just a couple ledger line notes you should be able to play that

Actually C0, around 16hz
You're cooked if a string snaps 💀
That pronunciation of "octobass" killed me inside more than the ledger lines

Imagine the string snapping right at you
It never became widespread.
In 200 years, there will be videos about how people like Daniel Krauss of Admiral Angry designed and played guitars with a low note of A0. Revolutionary shit.
Octo-bass, world's rarest fish
Bro said “hehe, let’s make one as big as possible…”
This looks like a logistic nightmare if you're a single person owning one xD!
The ledger lines genuinely gave me anxiety.
Nobody can hear it just like the double bass.

And i thoung my double bass was big as a full size...😢

The lowest note is actually C0. E1 is the lowest possible note on a Double Bass. C2 is the lowest note on a Cello. Octobass is tuned two octaves lower than a cello.
