- This park was the site of a Native American town. In 1815 a group of white settlers arrived here after a man named Michael Dixon purchased this land from a Chickasaw Chief named Tuscumbia. By 1819 the town of Ococaposa (Cold Water) was incorporated, and later changed to Tuscumbia to honor the Chief. So much history is here! Being on the trail of tears, some of the history is sad. Please watch until the end for a special plaque that was placed in the park to remember that sad time in our history.
This spring still supplies all the water for the town of Tuscumbia. The water stays a constant 36-38 degrees Fahrenheit.
What a lovely peaceful park. Again, thank you for sharing these little known gems. Mary
Thanks so much, Mary! This park was amazing! I wish I could have turned up the volume on the video I took of the dancing fountain! RUclips would have given me a copyright strike, but trust me, it was so nice and the water danced with the music perfectly!
First Viewer!! ❤ thanks for all you do!! 😊
