  • @Warlie80
    @Warlie80 Год назад +3

    I am in the comment section now because of the puzzles, which are not possible for an AI to solve. For example, It can not recognize where it is. The bridge is very significant for humans, but the AI does not understand its surroundings. The way-finding algorithm does not work in this way. It is just attraction-driven and uses ChatGPT or Alpaca for more complex decision-making. But these are used as chatbots. You need something like a game-level-to-text converter, and yes, the Google service can tell you something about the scenes but more in the way "There is a blocky depiction of an old temple." Still, the game is primarily played by the way-finding algorithm, and in my opinion, you would need something like Algo: "You see a cave, and there are three openings in the walls." ChatGPT: "Great, I decided to take the second one!" Algo runs to the specific opening.
    My professor has spent a lot of time and brainpower to tell a car in GTA not to crash into a transporter, and suddenly, Lara can solve complex maps on the first run. No way! The bare minimum I am okay with is that Lara dies a lot and gets help for almost every part. Maybe ChatGPT makes some decision-making about the parameters. The gameplay still needs support from a player. I like the idea and take a lot of inspiration out of it. So go on, I have fun!

    So many things about the first Tomb Raider was so perfect. The low poly texture doesn't even take away from it, it just adds to the whole creepy and isolated atmosphere. It was a novel game of it's time and it's still fun today. I like too that it's a game that didn't need a hud, or narrative cutscenes to interfere with immersion. It lets you feel like your on your own to figure everything out and there's no hand holding.

For example with the T-Rex battle once it got too close she tried to move away all the while shooting it, then realizing that might not be enough she takes out the shotgun. I think she is getting better at exploring since she needed fewer hints. This might be due to experience or not. However, she still has a tendency to outright ignore water. I am very interested to see how she reacts to later levels and possibly other Tomb games.

    This has been very entertaining to watch, thanks for taking an experiment and turning it into a series. AI Laura is a comedian, a genius, a scholar, a peaceful monk whenever possible... and a ruthless cold blooded gangster when metaphorically backed into a corner. Excellent work!
    This also opens the floodgate to other games, these are mere suggestions based on my personal bias, all of them have voiced audio tracks btw;
    *Army Men - Sarge's Heroes (PS1, PC, N64, DC)
    The PSX & PC versions feature full dialogue tracks. The thought of an AI Sgt. Hawk waging a one man war against the entire tan army would be hilarious. He would probably be savage and dish out a lot of 3rd degree burns, especially toward general Plastro.
    *Spyro The Dragon (PS1)
    Spyro is a wonderful game filled with mystery and dreams, an AI Spyro would embark on a remarkable adventure and would likely be in awe of every world he visits. All 3 games would be cool but that's a lotta work tho.
    *Resident Evil 3 - Nemesis (PS1)
    Not much need to explain this one, AI Jill bravely fighting through zombies would be epic.
    *Super Mario 64 (N64 obviously)
    I know its cliche but if you jump on it now you'd be among the first to do it, who knows what all crazy shit AI Mario would say and do.
    A few other mentions just to throw out there and see what sticks; Ape Escape (PS1), Shadow of the Colossus (PS2), Gex 3 - Deep Cover Gecko (PS1, N64), Super Mario Sunshine (GCN), Oddworld - Abe's Oddysee (PS1, PC), Oddworld - Stranger's Wrath (multi-plat), Twisted Metal III (PS1). All of these have dialogue track samples for their playable characters as well.

      Think of it this way:
      The bot has to make a decision between A and B, so it creates a save state. He lets the game play a bit of A and if it is the winning path, he just lets it continue. If it is not going the right way, the save state will be loaded, the music and everything else be loaded EXACTLY as it was when the state was saved, and then the bot will pick B instead.
      Now do that scenario a hundred times.
      That's the basis for how this works.

    I'd love a detailed explanation how does Lara make such remarkable observations about her environment. And her deductions based on pure logic and reason kinda makes me think it's not authentic. This hasn't been discussed in the first video. So I'd like to see a more detailed video of her feedback loop and thought processes. Based on just vision, a Google Image Search result fed into ChatGPT should not give us such a cohesive cognitive ability. Also, if I remember correctly she only looks up new, uncatalogued textures on Google? Plus it's just distinctive textures only, so how on Earth can she make any remarks about the map layout, path finding, obstacles, openings, puzzles, etc?? There's either a lot more to it than just looking up a few textures, or its authenticity is questionable. ChatGPT is also known to break character every once in a while, so surely a few tries have been taking place till you got the result you wanted.

      Like at 22:22: after jumping over a broken bridge, she made a remark about the the puzzle from a while back. "Now that I think about it, I found two gears. Maybe they need to be assembled to build something." What has triggered this response? There's nothing in front of her that she could look up on Google that would have given something remotely close to this response. Also commenting on the pathfinding that she shouldn't just jump down from the bridge is not so simple either. Looking for shortcuts is human. I doubt the bot could make such decisions - based on its logic, how it's been introduced in the first video - and make a query on ChatGPT to comment on it. I expect it to be rather systematic in its pathfinding: look for an opening and follow it through. Contemplating on whether it should take a shortcut and to realize IT IS a shortcut indeed, is human. Risk assessment is not part of Lara's programming either or perhaps I missed that part too?

    • @Teasuti
      @Teasuti Год назад +2

      @@reifuTD the robot and ChatGPT are two separate entities. It's the trained robot that navigates in the game. ChatGPT only receives some search results from the image search and from the sound recognition - as far as we know. This only should get us some comments regarding those queries Lara sees or hears, placed into context with her character traits and the story of the game. So at best I'd expect some basic remarks of what she literally sees or hears. And it should be triggered only by those two inputs. ChatGPT isn't part of the puzzle solving mechanism. I can't even imagine how you could translate the game world into some text prompts for ChatGPT to be able to make any sense of what's happening in the game. So that's done purely by the bot. What makes it sus for me is that ChatGPT gets a whole lot MORE context than what the (texture) image search and sound recognition would be able to grasp. And apparently it also prompts itself randomly without any audiovisual triggering and somehow connects the dots in the plot with a far greater understanding than the average player. Well, I give it to her that no human player would ever stop to think about the little details on a texture, like what it could mean to have foliage or ice or the lack thereof. That's way too complex reasoning. Again, I don't see how she picks up on these details, because there's no such apparent mechanism in the bot?
