Eatons in Alberta had lots of them on the shelves when I was young. Managed to get Ampzilla, Sharkos and Lobstros and absolutely loved them. The rubbery tentacles fell out of the front of Lobstros all the time and I remember finally leaving them in a box with various guns and accessories rather than risk losing them. All of these were great toys. Ampzilla was the best but had a very fragile leg peg and, sadly, the leg broke off during a battle with various other figures. Superglue never seemed to repair it fully and finally I just tacked it on and left it on a shelf. It's a pity that none of these were re-released. I'd love to get more of these awesome and amazing vehicles. (and yes, I do weep for Equestron and those beautiful Buck Rogers/Micronaut playsets never being released. I'd kill for a Draconian Command Base).
I dont LOVE them but I definitely still want them added to my collection! Ken Kelly is why I buy these toys boxed for sure
I love how Mego's own ad pronounces Lobstros two different ways.
Weep. I weep for all of it when it ended. Made me incredibly sad. On the other hand it taught me to scour and hunt all over the place. And on it again. What I would not give for an Equestron.
Great series
I think all of this toyline is pretty sweet and Lobstros is a great design. Actually kind of with Mego would reissue some Micronauts since the original supply shrinks every day and they were quite fragile in hindsight.
The hand drawn advertisements in my Marvel comics were mesmerizing. I leaned toward Shogun Warriors but if I was a little older with more money the Micronauts would have been mine.
I was waiting for those 1980 new realeases for over 3 years as Mego went out of business. IIRC, the line went to some other company just repackaged them as another name.
I picked up about 10-50 in a local thrift shop around '82.
Micronauts were my favorite toys.

I make 3D printed Micronauts parts and sell them through a store. Lobstros is one of the few toys that I have no pieces for because I simply can't get a hold of any to copy! I even have some Ampzilla parts, made by copying broken pieces.

Kronos was badass! He was one of my favorite action figures at the time. I remember Ampzilla from the comics but never seen him at the stores.
I never saw a Lobstros or Ampzilla or Sharkos as a kid...I'd love to add them to my collection, but there is no way I could afford them now.
Awesome video. Thanks for covering the Micronauts. Next to Star Wars, this was my favorite line as a kid. Getting harder and harder to find them out in the wild. Once and a while I find one at a vintage toy shop or show, but that’s rare these days.
Micronaughts aliens were top tier army builders, back in the day.
I thought these were comic-only products. I had no idea they were actual toys.
Micro knots are very underrated they had some cool ideas Imagine if we knew back then what we know now I would of Bought the eagle at that garage sale across the street 15 dollars back in 81 still haunts me lol

Just got my Lobstros today! (minus the antennae) Never had one when I was a kid, so it is a real treat. Not the best Micronauts design, in my opinion, but it's rarity made me shell out some $ for it.
I remember these. Used my REMCO _Horrible Hamilton's Raiders_ from 1964, to fight them off.
Today, Questron could affordably be made with the micro-electronics of today. MEGO should look into combining the Micro-Naught line, with REMCO's Horrible Hamilton sets, and reopen children's imaginations once more.
Lastly, 1980 was the advent of home electronic gaming, and computers. That put a huge dent, in action toy sales.
A lot of these Micronauts vehicles, like Lobstros, were really cool. Unfortunately, I don't remember seeing them or the figures because I was around 3 years old when the line ended. I suppose they didn't hang around in my local stores, like the Mego Pocket Super Heroes did, which I remember seeing in the stores when I was like 4 or 5 years old.
Did anything like Equestron ever get released? That walking mechanism looks unusually sophisticated and interesting.
Anyone notice the Buck Rogers Star Shuttle still has an Acroyear II on the screen of the command area?

they needed to expand the larger magnetic characters like Force Commander and Baron Karza .. they had Japanese characters already made alll the characters were far more playable than Star Wars with their lack of articulation .. the SW vehicles were great but until GI joe came out nothing could come close to a time traveller or galactic warrior or space Glider or Pharoid or Galactic defender .. loved those toys and the comic was excellent
As a kid of limited means. All of my toy money went to star wars stuff and other properties from TV or movies.

Micronauts were my "last toy craze" before I reached that age where you put away childish things and grow your first whisker. I still think they were a great toy line. FWIW I don't think these "creature themed" models would have appealed to me and they don't really seem very Micronaut-y. If I'd been in charge of the line I would have focussed on the technological angle and interchangeability of the parts to give more flexibility in that regard, maybe started to release packs of parts to give a more construction set experience. Did boys really want a horse and cart?

Brick help me understand. I watched the episode of "Toys that made us" on MEGO and know they went out of business. So why do we see MEGO's now? New ones in Target & Comic Shops etc?
Mego folded in 1983 but came back in 2018, it's the Abrams family too.
Because they sold THE MICRONAUTS to HASBRO and used that money to bring back MEGO.

Fisher Price made a vehicle similar for the joker. Too bad it cant fit pocket heroes the Fisher Price Imaginext vehicle toy.
didn't they repurpose lobstros to be john boy's nemesis in the 'waltons' line? or am i not remembering it correctly?
