Nick Wrong as usually doesn't understand how fast Brock Purdy processes defense and his accuracy, something Jimmy G and previous QB's couldn't do.

Purdy in the regular season last year- 69.4% completion percentage. Purdy in the playoffs last year- 61.1% completion percentage. When people talk about Purdy’s accuracy and processing, in the regular season they’re mostly right. In the playoffs it hasn’t been the same and that’s a big problem especially if they’re considering paying him more than $50 million a year.

You can stat pad like DAK and the Cowboys during the regular season but the playoffs will give you a better picture of your skill level. Purdy runs Kyle’s offense the best I’ve seen. Actually, JG did quite well, from an accuracy and quick release standpoint.
Purdy could play all 22 positions during the whole season and go undefeated, and Nick Wright would still find a reason to not give him credit.

I watched this show, and as soon as they started talking about Josh Allen in this offense or put Brock Purdy in this offense, blah blah I turned it off. I always hated that Purdy graphic tbh. And the reason I say that is because it felt like a goalpost move. The criticism was initially that Purdy needs to prove he can win from behind and/or when circumstances aren't the best. He does that & now it's that he didn't play well enough in the come from behind wins lmao. And even if he was partially why they were down, that's still winning under less than ideal circumstances. That's insane and let's kill the notion about Purdy's roster. I'm gonna kill this argument by using Mahomes as an example here. Has Purdy ever had a TE as great as Kelce ? No. Kittle is amazing no doubt, but Kelce is the better player. Has he ever had a WR as dynamic as Tyreek ? No. Now let's compare O Lines. The name recognition of Trent Williams makes some think that the SF O Line is good, but it's actually the furthest from that. Their O Line is quite suspect. Mahomes has a Top3-5 O Line. Now let's do defense. SF actually had an up and down defense this year. Again, they have big names like Warner & Bosa, but they didn't play up to their names all the time. KC all year long was basically balling on defense. Purdy has a squad for sure, but let's not act like he's always had like the best players at every position and all that
Well we know they are always moving the goalpost for purdy. But honestly it's a great problem to have. I you're a 49ers fan or even just a Purdy fan, it's great to have people say you're not the reason for the success. Because it means you have a great team and a great coach. So keep winning and watch the haters hate!
I don't agree with Kelce really being the better player. What Reid has, is a reliable O-line, and so Kelce gets to spend much of his time out running routes. Kyle, esepcially in big games like this, tends to keep George in, as a blocker, to shore up the 9ers Achilles' heel: the o-line.

Purdy sucked vs any good AFC defense
I dont understand how it is assumed Allen or Prescott or Love can have the same success in the 49ers offense. Part of the reason Brock is playing great is because he understands and can run Kyle’s offense. And Kyle’s offense is one of the most complex. His brain is is his elite attribute.

Because Brock Purdy isn’t the first person to figure out how to throw a football and he won’t be the last. Just because Purdy has had a degree of success in the system doesn’t mean other QBs wouldn’t be equally or more successful on this team. I’d imagine a lot of QBs would be productive on a team with 4 pro bowlers around them on offense.
@@Bambam0850Purdy actually had more turnover worthy plays than Josh Allen last year. Look it up if you don’t believe me. He just had a lot of good luck where defenders dropped those turnovers, but we also saw in the Ravens game what happens when they don’t drop them.

I'm a Niners fan and I rank Purdy 7th or 8th behind Jalen Hurts and before or right after Jordan Love. I think Purdy is really good but not elite yet. We'll really see how good he is once he gets paid $50-$60 mil a year next year and they have to let more talent walk. As far as the Super Bowl, that loss was on Kyle Shanahan, the coaching staff, and that O-line!
Purdy is in the second spot, not the second tier. Top five or six at the lowest.

I think He has a very reasonable take on Brock.
1. Brock didnt play poorly in the playoffs... he was bad against GB. But he was good against Detroit and KC.
2. KC's Defense is majorly being slept on... after watching the all 22. Neither Deebo or Aiyuk were beating the opposing DB's in Press. Now the Refs allowed a lot of physicality (they just allowed it across the board so it was fair) but the WR's still need to get open in that scenario and neither one was able to win.

That’s not accurate. Aiyuk was getting open but Purdy wasn’t going through his progressions and finding him. He would lock onto his first read which was usually Deebo Samuel. If you watch the tape again you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Brock purdy can and will win a superbowl. And for the record he did'nt lose the superbowl the defense did. He gave them the lead in overtime all our defense had to do was make a stop. People not giving him the elite credit is nuts. My question is this what does he have to prove to be considered elite in the NFL. Don't say win the superbowl cause you guys say jackson and allen are elite those 2 havent even made it to the superbowl. The defense played great. They only gave up 19 points in regulation. That’s amazing.

I think people like Nick Wrong evaluate Purdy the wrong way and I say that because the niners offense is more built around cmc than it is Purdy and we are a run first offense and passing is secondary so when we compare these stats to someone like mahomes or Allen the stats are going to be different because the chiefs and the bills are a pass first offense. However, I believe that is starting to change for the niners because we finally have a QB who can and will step up when they need him too and is a qb that Kyle trusts and if any fan base knows mediocre qb play, it’s the faithful because after Montana, young, and Garcia we went through a drought with only a couple of years with decent qb play with Kap and Jimmy that we thought were going to be great but it didn’t end up that way. I will also say this, they’re bringing up Purdy’s first full year as the starter playoff stats but did they even bother to look up mahomes first full years playoff stats? He lost to Tom Brady’s patriots in OT in the divisional round and his number were quite similar to Purdy’s sb stats. In Purdy’s rookie season it took a serious injury to Purdy that took out the niners in the nfc championship game (which the niners completely fell apart in that game) then the following year it took mahomes (and Chris Jones) in OT in the sb to take him out.
Anyone loses all credibility the minute they put a qb that’s yet to play a snap in the nfl as a top tier guy

@@JWLSports How so? The WRs have sucked the past two years, and Andy Reid was 1-4 in the playoffs with the Chiefs before Mahomes. Reid is a great coach, and Mahomes sitting with Alex Smith for a year was a huge benefit, but basically, you could coach Mahomes and still win.
@@markb3786 because you have to zoom out on something like this. The Chiefs were one of the Top10-12 teams in the NFL probably before Mahomes took over imo. They were often winning their division, winning 10+ games, and had some high caliber talent on that roster along with one of the better coaches in the league. Compare that to someone like Brady when he took over the Pats. They were 5-13 in the 2 seasons before Brady took over and there was no equivalent to Kelce or Hill that he stepped into. When you actually zoom out and look at all the facts, it's undeniable that Mahomes stepped into a situation around him that was pretty ok lol

Joe Montana won Super Bowls when he had talent around him. Brock Purdy got dragged to the Super Bowl and couldn’t win it despite the defense holding the Chiefs to 19 points in regulation. Please do us all a favor and don’t ever again put the little make a wish kid’s name in the same sentence with Joe Montana ever again. It’s honestly not fair to Purdy. Joe Montana is one of the greatest QBs of all time, Brock Purdy is probably one of the greatest QBs on the 49ers current roster. They are not close to being similar.

"top talent at every single premium position" - The 49ers had a bottom ranked O-line that was #24 in pass-blocking last season according to PFF; lower-ranked than every other top QBs in the entire league. And that ranking was INCLUDING Trent Williams. Without Trent Williams, it was objectively the worst.

Brock Purdy had 3 TDs in his first playoff game. He has a total of 3 TDs in 5 playoff games since then. I actually think it’s the opposite. I think the stats prove that Purdy doesn’t play well under pressure. His worst games have been his playoff games and regular season games against good teams. When the pressure goes up, Purdy’s production goes down.

A lot of people tried saying that turnover worthy plays weren’t a thing until the Ravens game where they converted 4 of those picks. If some of that luck starts to revert to the mean, Purdy will have more turnovers and therefore could easily be less productive than last year.

And for the record if you check the stats, the 49ers offense didn’t take a leap when Purdy took over. The 49ers offense took a leap when they added CMC. In 5 games with CMC before he got hurt, Jimmy G had 9 TDs and 1 INT.
Not just went to the super bowl as a first starter but off an injury and not practicing at all in the offseason because the injury so bad. The biggest comeback in NFC championship history. Which was after a comeback from the year before. But Nick's argument is it's because Brock put them in that position. Well who put the Patriots behind in the Super Bowl against Alanta? Tom Brady wasn't even the MVP in that Super Bowl. It was Edelman. Just saying.
Besides Mahomes, what other quarterbacks have done that ? The only other quarterbacks to even get to the super bowl was the bengals and the rams quarterback. Also Purdy does benefit from his roster. Stop acting like he’s better then he is. San Francisco went to the super bowl with other quarterback who’s a backup now.

This narrative that Kyle Shanahan is a king maker at the QB position is a joke. In 2019 when Kyle went to his first Super Bowl he had a losing record. If Jimmy G had not showed up Kyle would have been fired. Kyle knows nothing about developing a QB he has to have some one straight out of the box who can run HIS offense. That's why the Trey Lance pick was so dumb because he was raw and a long term project. Kyle said himself he had no idea how to make a playbook for him. Does that sound like a guy who knows how to coach up a QB? The answer is no. Does Brock benefit from a great roster? Absolutely he does but the rest is all him. The guy is gifted between the ears. He processes and understands the game of football at a high level. Go look at Kyles record pre Jimmy G and Brock. Oh yeah and the kid still hasn't had a full off season and training camp.

I'll take Brock Purdy in a playoff game or SB over Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, CJ Stroud, Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott, Jarod Goff, Trevor Lawrence, or Kirk Cousins. None of those guys have proved they are elite in the playoffs when the bright lights are on them.
The problem with 'elite' QB rankings is none of them have won a SB except Mahomes. Burrow beat Mahomes once in a playoff game and then lost a SB, so I guess that makes him elite. Matthew Stafford has a SB victory but is he still elite? Maybe. Aaron Rodgers has a ring, but he is 40 and coming back from a major injury. Russell Wilson has a ring, but is largely considered washed at this point unless you are a Steelers fan. That's literally it for QBs in the league with rings, Mahomes, Stafford, Rodgers, and Wilson.
Why doesn't Lamar get killed for putting up 10 points in the AFC Championship game? Yet Brock puts up 22 and takes the Chiefs to OT, but he's not good enough and Lamar is elite?
And I don't want to hear about the talent Brock is playing with unless you can name a single SB winning QB that had no talent around him. It doesn't happen.
