the drummer is the unsung hero of this group because he has the musical sense and maturity to let these monsters do their thing and just provide the groove, and throw in tasty chops were appropriate.
I remember my Music Appreciation Teacher showed us this song in class just to show that there's no such thing as a bad song, just bad delivery. Just found it again 5 years again, and It's still awesome.
Andrew Royappa He can play the guitar, he's a decent singer, and he's involved in the songwriting (not just in name) of most of his songs. I can't blame him and his producers for releasing songs that make literally all of the money, instead of stuff that you and I might like.
Yes it is, but it isn't THAT technical . . .although I like the chords in the middle and makes me remember Anthony Jackson, it wasn't more than minor pents pull off and thirds. Take a look at it, greetings!
Isaiah Mccain Well "uber" is the anglised version of the german preposition ''über",which is used in german to exaggerate something,to express that something is "above" the norm. Now given the fact that the original song by J.Bieber isn´t just bad but beyond bad, even by today´s low standards for mainstream pop,it´s pretty accurate to call it an "uber-crappy" song.Btw:I happen to be a native german speaker,so I find it cool that the term has been integrated into the english-american vocabulary and I like to use it frequently, when I communicate in english, specially because I can pronounce the umlaut "Ü" properly.Any other questions?
That's a real fusion: Patitucci style bass + some pop as Mark King in slapping, a bit of soul in the voice, some crazy Dave Weckl drumming, Crazy jazzy chords! Really amazing. Can't stop listening. Scandinavian surprise me more and more lately. How hell I missed this last 5 years???
I am a retired dinosaur keyboard player who has been blessed to have played with some of the best players on the planet. So whenever I hear brilliant young musicians like you, it gives me great hope for the future of music. Thanks for keeping the flame of Fusion, Funk and electric Jazz burning. Great young players like you are going to turn the flame into a huge burning fire. Bravo!!!
Secret to a Dirty Loops cover - re-harm the original. Then re-harm the re-harm. Then re-harm once more. And then add some passing chords for good measure. Then re-harm it one more time.
I can't believe that came out over 5 years ago! Now I feel old. I remember watching it when it was released. This is still an amazing video!! Dirty Loops are the best!!
What's not to love, they are Swedish, young, and makin music exciting again!!!! as a 6 string bassist, that has played every genre, these guys are killing it!!!! yay!!!! makes me so proud of these guys and their "skillz"
I've listened to this so many times and I still have to say that those few seconds beginning at 1:42 is quite possibly my favorite musical moment on RUclips.
I just love how happy they are playing together. Like every time they sit down and play, they're all impressed with each other. Connections like that are hard to find in a band.
most underrated drummer in the history of music, only because he doesn't show off and his movements are not as theatrical as other drummers when they play stuff that's as hard and technical. He's incredibly musical too.
He does his job and does it very well .I love how he plays in and out of the pocket. He doesn't miss a lick. These guys just work flawlessly together . If I were Justin Beiber and I heard these guys do my song like they did it , I would go hide my head in the sand . They ripped it a new one!
Just incredible every time I listen I hear more nuances than before. It's just so full of great ideas all jam packed into 2.44 seconds. The arranging is first class and the musicality of the bass players solo really shines in this song it's probably my favourite bass solo ever I just love all the ideas, even the the bass melody he plays just as he ends the solo. The vocal breakdown section sounds incredibly beautiful with his voice just sounding great, I've never heard a piano player who can sing like that and play complicated parts at the same time . The piano parts are just genius and really add a smooth gospels jazzy flavour that just compliment the music endlessly. The drums are nothing short of incredible, he plays so many fresh and interesting fills that just fit in so well. The sounds are all clean and well recorded , what an excellent job ! Just exciting to see other musicians aren't giving in or catering too much for the mass, a true unique sound which shines with originality.
Just excellent, thank God for dirty Loops. i was beginning to think that all music that's popular was loosing its purpose. This amazing playing is made to look soooo easy. Its not believe me! 11 out of 10! :)
la rearmonización es impresionante , la serie de acordes es bastante buena y ni hablar del acompañamiento del bajo , simplemente esta es una prueba de que el pop se puede hacer música interesante y estudiada
Can't believe this is 7 years old now. Still sounding pretty fresh! Also the camera crew really undersells the fact that the singer is also playing keys while doing those insane vocal runs!!
Holy Chicken! That was incredible! I'm lost for words... seriously. They are soooo good! And what an arangement! I bet Beiber was like "Damn!" I've watched their videos over and over so many times, I can't get enough! I love their new album Loopified. They have restored my faith in young musicians!
This version of this song is so catchy and amazing that I can't believe people still RUclips this vid. I can't have enough of these guys, their amazing
I knew I wasn't crazy. I've been hearing and feeling the smooth house music and sound in all of their music addition to the jazz and soulful sound. I haven't been able to stop moving.
Meu Deus, estou sem palavras, esse cover é maravilhoso, nunca gostei do Justin, mas, adoro essa música agora, por causa de vocês.. Tooop demais. Grande abraço. Letícia.
I've been lucky to have been involved with music all of my life. And although late in coming....the first time I heard this, you blew my mind! You are incredible!
This is the best I´ve heared within the last years. Maybe the grooviest song I´ve heared ever!!! I can´t give this song enough likes. Thank you DIRTY LOOPS!
Very appropriate thumbnail! I stumbled upon this (and loved it!) years ago, before coming around to enjoying Justin Bieber‘s more recent music. Everything about this is wonderful! Especially that BASS!!! 🔥
Oh Man how I wish. Then all Real musicians could enter the music world rather than the total Shit after Shit after Shit that's out there. Dirty Loops is 1 shining section.
Honestly? They wouldn't enjoy it. I'm not slagging off Beliebers, but people who really enjoy many of the artists in the pop charts all at once just will not enjoy this kind of music with complex musicianship. I'm not calling pop fans stupid or unperceptive but the thing is, if you're not already into more complex music (not necessarily complex but more complex than pop), then it's going to be hard for you to appreciate what simply sounds like a lot of notes and confusing chords. Many people just can't put together in their head the melody and what comes with, considering the simple melody is the same here. And in songs that have more complex melodies too, the song will go in ear and through the other with no really appreciation of the clever and competent playing here.
So true... I'd like to add that, in my experience, having a really good sound system (and I mean, a reeeeally good one) does help tremendously in learning how to appreciate music. In a better world, top hifi music systems should be heavily subsidezed. We humans, as a race, would benefit so much from it.
I heard Justin Bieber did a cover of this song
LOL
Haha!! And it was way worse LMAO
+Oshan Wijeratne lmao
+Grayson Inman Dude that's deep... savage... LOL

+Kren Wregget Bassist is also killing it
Yikak4 Kren Wregget - also, the vocalist and keys are giving them a reason to create better music.
+Kren Wregget You think this guy is insane in that aspect.... Listen to Steve Jordan.
Hat Guy He's pretty great
amen!
10 years later, and that bass solo is still one of the sickest things I’ve ever heard
i need a super talented goth bassist femboy bf in my life

I'm hearing this 10 years later. And its still unbelievable like the day one. I love you guys!

It took me 30 minutes to find their name. Fuck its worth it, even better than i thought. Wow

+Redback Breeder yes...yes he is. Unreal how these guys can make a Bieber song sound good.
his face when he plays it. i love it lmao.
Redback Breeder ñ
im gonna cry. thank you dirty loops for showing us that there is no bad music, there are bad musicians.
you're welcome, young padawan
I disagree. Justin Bieber isn't really a bad musician, I bet he could make music that I'd enjoy, he just doesn't choose to.
Rattenhoofd lel JB is not a musician. His producers are facile with autotune.
Andrew Royappa Well he's not a bad singer

Yeah boy!
I'm from Brazil and I'm enjoying this song 🇧🇷🎵
Bass solo is VERY advanced playing. Stunned.
Well.. Henrik simply IS this good ;)
If you ever get a chance to catch them Live, don't miss it!!
Peter Sjöroos I would go almost anywhere to see these guys live but as far as I know, they have no tour dates in the states. :-(
Zenei Smith yes they do. Seattle @ ShowBox Sodo I am seeing them on Friday, Nov. 21st!
Yeah, "stunned" is a pretty good description.
Yes it is, but it isn't THAT technical . . .although I like the chords in the middle and makes me remember Anthony Jackson, it wasn't more than minor pents pull off and thirds. Take a look at it, greetings!
Holy shit he sounds like Stevie Wonder when he hits those high notes.
he is a huge fan of stevie XD
He's better
Allemaal Designs yeah he is
Allemaal Designs I wouldn't go that far to say better... but he's pretty good nonetheless!
@@Rizzinator123 true that. Stevie is obviously his main influence. He would be offended somebody suggested he is better.
Shows how talented these guys are, when they can take an uber-crappy popsong like ''Baby'' and turn it into this,*R-E-S-P-E-C-T*

***** The Facts that you used the word Uber-crappy makes you seem very unintelligent.
Isaiah Mccain Well "uber" is the anglised version of the german preposition ''über",which is used in german to exaggerate something,to express that something is "above" the norm. According to Aaron these guys weren't even officially a group at this time!? So consistently great right from the very beginning. Totally impressive.
The bass solo is sick, but actually my favorite part of his playing is all those basslines behind everything. So dope!
Pure musicianship taking a so-so tune and making it classic. Each one is utterly competent on their instrument.
