Drummer's have always been in the background, never getting the praise they deserve, but one drummer back in the big band days, got recognized, Gene Krupa, even got his own movie.
1:29 When Belinda kicks off her shoes, that's the signal that she's in the zone. Usually takes a few songs. First chorus of the first song..she was hyped
Ok. ..I admit it...I'm British. ...I'm into iron maiden , ac/dc.....and I FUCKING LOVE THE GO-GOS!!!! saw them live in London in the 90s and dearly wish they would gig again in this country!
I saw them perform in Vegas back in August 2016 at Mandalay Bay (Party on the Beach). Beyond amazing!!! There was a short thunderstorm that night. The wind picked up for a few minutes and watching Belinda Carlisle's hair flying all around while she sang with lightening flashing across the sky is a sight and sound I will remember my whole life.
Belinda became a "breakout" star, but, as a whole, The Go-Go's as a group are something unique. They have an energy and sense of fun and excitement that just can't be beat. They created history and a legacy that lives on, and this re-union concert only proves my point. I love and respect them all.
5 girls rocking out! these girls should be an inspiration to all the girls in this world that they can rock and roll! a super bowl halftime show should be the next thing on these girls agenda!
the most successful all female rock group from the late 70's til now....i was a teenager when these songs became hits world wide....carefree times...the 80's was truly a memorable decade! the best!
Great Musicians.....they rock.....and the drummer Gina can stand shoulder to shoulder with the men every day of the week and three times on Sunday.....she is nothing short of hardcore.....
AUG/27/16 Saw them play at Mandalay Bay Friday Night! Best damn concert I've ever been to! I had the perfect view and their playing was outstanding. Jane expressed her disappointment that no one was allowed in the water but at the end of the concert a few brave souls rushed the stage only to be taken away by the lifeguards. :) By the way, I flew down to Vegas from Edmonton, Alberta just for this show and it was worth it, big time!
I saw them at the Star Plaza in Merrillville, Indiana in October 2012 and they rocked the place! It wasn't a full house, but they pulled a great show! I loved it! I saw Shemekia Copeland opened up for Johnny Lang and Buddy Guy the week after and they all did an amazing show! I love the concerts at the Star Plaza!
I bought Beauty and the Beat freshman year of high school when it came out, to teach a girl how to play the drums. Debbie and her friends wanted to start a band and play Go Go's music, I told her it won't be easy for a beginner, but she did pretty well. My god, Kathy is smoking hot here with that dress, boots, and long hair!
I saw them live at Red Rocks in the early 80s and it was Gina Schock's birthday so she did a 20 minute drum solo, and all the other girls were standing next to her kit just screaming and clapping; you could tell they all got drunk at that show and it was fantastic; They just rocked the Rocks! at the end, they told the audience that was the best, most fun gig they had done in years! They all threw their shoes into the crowd and just danced around barefoot; Jane fell off the stage; Belinda fell down while dancing; they were all laughing so hard but still played like a sonofabitch! So glad I got to see them live in their prime!
Thank you. These girls were pioneers. Far superior to any of their very competitors for attention (no, I dont see music as a competition - cant find another word at the moment). Their songs had many excellent hooks. They had well-written and original lyrics at level of literacy above that of the average pop song. They are certainly good enough on their instruments, unlike so many modern bands, and the music is suited to their ability. How can you disdain their talent. For goodness sake, to whom would you compare their talent? Clapton? Sandy Denny? Segovia? Katy Perry?
get over yourself. I was a kid when go go's were on MTV and so were they. they will always be the girls I grew up with, no matter how old they are now or what senseless label you looked up on wiki.
neuregel even when you were a kid, they were still women. I sense you are not tracking well here - let me put it this way, you are no more a boy, than they are or were girls in the 80's. I can't make it any more simple than that
I've been a Go-Go's fan since their early successes, around 1981. And as a 12-year old at the time, I could see what their mass appeal was. They're tough chicks, with punk roots sugarcoated with girlgroup wholesomeness. A lethal combination. They exuded sexiness without compromising femininity. And unlike other female rock bands at the time, they did not resort to rockstar, machismo posturing either. And let's face it. Beauty and the Beat is a classic album.
I have this show on DVD, Belinda is soooo gorgeous, and Jane still the cutest, Kathy is hot too, Gina is an awesome drummer and Charlotte is great on keyboards which adds something extra.
Go-Go's were hard as Fk in the day. It's amazing they all survived. The make the Runaways look like a bunch of china dolls... other than JJ, of course.
The Bass,,,i love it! Drums tooooo powerful... Organ but simple ,,deep impact ,, Belinda it's natural simple,, Beside him simple but malakas ang datingan!!!!! I love you jane!!!!????
Hi my name is Jennifer I'm Joshua's mom and I ordered MTV classic on my cable TV just because of the go'gos and. Others my favorite is Jane w and Kathy v
Chris Knight I bought Jane's album "Fur" as soon as it came out and still adore it. Alwys been a bit puzzled as to why she wasn't more famous. Decent actress and amazing at VO work.
***** Oh? Girls can't ask for dates, pick up the check, make the first move, take responsibility for their own actions, or fix cars. But they can rock and roll, that's no lie.
Scott Adler Excuse me?? Girls can to ask for dates, pick up the check, make the first move, take responsibility for their own actions and most certainly FIX CARS!
Kathy's fine bass makes a real contribution to many songs. It's not just a nearly invisible foundation but consists of recognizable riffs in addition to performing the rhythm section job.
I could stare at Suzanna Hoffs all day, but the GoGo's were 3X better musicians than The Bangles. The GoGo's punk rock roots really show in live performances like this. The GoGo's could really bring it live.
scdevon 3x better than the bangles?? Seriously? I suppose that's YOUR opinion, but i loved both bands and the bangles seemed like they put out a lot more music . The go gos songs sound to much alike on much of the music. Having said that, i love belindas voice, so that's ok by me :)
gmee123 The Bangles always seemed uncomfortable outside of the recording studio. The GoGos have punk rock roots and they grew up performing well live in front of crowds.
scdevon Ummm, the Bangles were actually FAR better musicians. I think you have that backwards lol. What was better about the go go's was they had creative control so their music had an organic energy on record. The record company meddled with the bangles and they were never happy with the over polished product.
Zoey Paige The Bangles had the single best musician between the 2 groups in Vicki Peterson. But overall the Go-Go's were far superior musicians. Because outside of Vicki, the Bangles were very mediocre musicians. Hoffs in particular was no better than anyone, not famous or professional, who can simply be said to play guitar. Whereas every Go-Go [outside Belinda, who was simply a vocalist] was well above average.
What a kick as show, these gals rock just as hard live as any of their male counter parts, and look super hot doing it!! I saw them in Santa Barbara in 1999, loved that show!
13:31min-13:42min, I love it when Belinda does things like this for shits and giggles. She has an energy that draws your attention. You can't keep your eyes off her. That's charisma.
I always thought Belinda (post Go-Go's break up) had an "Ann-Margret" quality about her (the hair color and style-change, slimming down and her coquettish movements).
Gina Schock is one of the most underrated drummers in the music industry. She's phenomenal.

Reminds me of when life was fun.
This 5 girls just make America..greater than it is ..Americans should be proud of this iconic band..go gos all the way..greetins from San Salvador
I saw them perform in Vegas back in August 2016 at Mandalay Bay (Party on the Beach). Beyond amazing!!! There was a short thunderstorm that night. This is timeless band ever!!! I must say brings back my high school life in a heartbeat \O/ yay!!! Thanks 4 posting!!!
Punk rock melódico en su máximo esplendor . Todas unas reinas sobre el escenario .
Suenan de la patada juntas .
Larga vida go go’s.
The Go Go's, the original pop punk band
Belinda became a "breakout" star, but, as a whole, The Go-Go's as a group are something unique. They have an energy and sense of fun and excitement that just can't be beat. They created history and a legacy that lives on, and this re-union concert only proves my point. I love and respect them all.

Vacation came out when I was in 8 th grade I listened to it all the time ..great escape song .
Dang, Kathy looked really good and jumped around.
It's sooo good! I love these women. I always will! Great to find this!
Gina Schock is a straight up great drummer.
YESSSSSSSS and actually quite under-rated, as well.
I´M AGREE. SHE IS A GREAT PUNK-MELODIC ROCK DRUMMER. GREAT STYLE AND SWING.
Gina schock is a great and under rated drummer . She kicks asses. Pure tallent and great Style.
Agree.... and her album "House of Schock" is still one of my favourite albums of all time.
The Drummer is a "Real Power-House!!!!
mark duncan tfgt
And, deservedly ranked as being one of America's best female drummers, as well :)
the most successful all female rock group from the late 70's til now....i was a teenager when these songs became hits world wide....carefree times...the 80's was truly a memorable decade! the best!

They ´re the best!!!!!! Greetin´ from Durango, Dgo., México...12 de marzo del 2014
Their drummer kicks ass! And, for the record, Jane was always the hot one.....
Me encanta ver estos videos, lindas todas ustedes. Creo que hoy no existen grupos de esta calidad.
Who's here in 2027? 🤙🤙
Saw them in 2001 at the OC fair. Awsome.
Talk about girl power, the best drummer regardless of sex, Belinda as beautiful as ever.
Kathy Valentine rocks that little black dress! (and oh yeah - she plays a mean bass...)
mmmmm Kathy
Smoking hotness!
It's a Bolin Bass - custom made (I asked her).
Thank you go,gos for being honest in your biography about the ups and downs in your show on Showtime, I watch it every time its on ,Thank you

Yes, Kathy is so much prettier with dark longer hair, different makeup and cute clothes.
Really enjoyed this show!! Thanks for sharing!! :)
DITTO!

adorable. ....... couldn't imagine growing up without these girls on MTV.
they are not girls, they are women - misogynist!
get over yourself. I was a kid when go go's were on MTV and so were they. they will always be the girls I grew up with, no matter how old they are now or what senseless label you looked up on wiki.

Must suck to be you to you have so many issues. They have perps for that.....enjoy

Is it just me? I think I like their sound better now than back in the day.

Amazing concert!!!
Best female band since The Runaways
Well, L7 is right up there, actually ....
Best female band now is The Warning, check em out.
Go-Go's were hard as Fk in the day. It's amazing they all survived. The make the Runaways look like a bunch of china dolls... other than JJ, of course.
Absolutelly agree. Great band .
ruclips.net/video/E62SVvLw9FI/видео.html
saw them at House of Blues, LA about 15 years ago. Great show.
Girls you are , awesome, i loved your show❤❤❤❤❤
que buen grupo de chicas...excelente!!!!!!! siempre!!!!!
The Go Go’s will always be cooler than anyone else.
They are like a V8 engine hitting on all 8 cylinders.
By this time they were all clean and sober.
that may help you play Rock N Roll but it does not help you create Rock n Roll
Very true. Look at the psychedelic era in the late '60's.
One theory of pop music is each era is influenced by the popular drugs at the time; kinda like Fantasia.
Jane's so cute. I love her smile.
The Bass,,,i love it!
Drums tooooo powerful...
Organ but simple ,,deep impact ,,
Belinda it's natural simple,,
Beside him simple but malakas ang datingan!!!!!
I love you jane!!!!????

Go Gina! She's rocking!
I love them all but seriously Jane Wiedlin could of been such a star. I still think her solo work is very good and massively underrated.
Chris Knight I bought Jane's album "Fur" as soon as it came out and still adore it. Alwys been a bit puzzled as to why she wasn't more famous. Decent actress and amazing at VO work.
+Chris Knight Jane's first album, self-titled, is really good. I love Forever.
See girls CAN do what boys can do! Amazing show!
***** Of course they can. They always could. ;)
***** Carlisle and the gals LOOKED great, didn't they?

***** Oh?
Girls can't ask for dates, pick up the check, make the first move, take responsibility for their own actions, or fix cars.

Great 'Full Concert' video ! ! . . :-D
Kathy's fine bass makes a real contribution to many songs. It's not just a nearly invisible foundation but consists of recognizable riffs in addition to performing the rhythm section job.

They sounded fucking great.
Wow,they still got it :)

They’re going on tour this summer to celebrate their 40th Anniversary, and.....wait for it.....KATHY VALENTINE IS BACK!!
I used to crank their tunes through a 100 watt Marshall amp in the 80s.
Brazil loves Go Go's
13:31min-13:42min, I love it when Belinda does things like this for shits and giggles. She has an energy that draws your attention. You can't keep your eyes off her. That's charisma.
Damn. I want that drummer in my band. Overall fantastic. This is one they can all look back on and say " you know what, we kicked some serious ass".
yeaaahhhh thanks :D
I always thought Belinda (post Go-Go's break up) had an "Ann-Margret" quality about her (the hair color and style-change, slimming down and her coquettish movements).
first 2 cassettes ( Yes cassettes) I ever bought was Ozzy Ozbourne Bark at the moon and The GO's GO's Vacation at the same time lol
Nothing like music live
In Central Park.
