as another japanese person, i think people of any race should be allowed to wear whatever makeup they want, UNLESS they are trying to look like another race. trying out an east asian makeup style or using east asian makeup products(two things I’ve seen a lot of youtube) is great and I’m happy people want to appreciate our culture! but if people are purposefully using makeup to make themselves look asian or, in worse cases, lying about being asian, that’s a problem.
I'm a dark-skinned Asian and western makeup trends definitely helped me work with my skin tone. Beauty standards in asia idealize white skin, and it was through tanned and dark ladies in the west that I learned to reject the bleaching pills and procedures and get a flattering blush color and not over pluck my brows. I know I'd be heart broken if I was told to stop doing my makeup the way other POC Americans do theirs.

I was about to say something similar, because you can make the argument that asians want to like westerners. When I do my makeup to make my eyes look bigger, I'm not necessarily trying to look white. I just want bigger eyes. It's not necessarily the makeup, it's overly sexualizing asian women and young girls, using it as some costume and having the ability to wipe it off. Like I can't just be "okay this is hard being asian let me just go back to being white." We can't just "wipe" that off, this is who we are.

There are people from Northern European countries like Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, etc who have eyes naturally like that. Also black people can have monolid eyes without being mixed. The eyelid fold that covers your eyelid and gives that look occurs more commonly on East Asian people but can also happen in other races, it’s just a stereotype. I'm a cosplayer. I use white liner on my lower lash line all the time, it makes my eyes look more cartoon-ish and bigger. I also do my winged liner from my lower lash line because I have hooded eyes and it looks way better. Not once has anyone ever thought I was Asian. I still look white as hell doing both of those techniques. Don't gatekeep makeup. Not everything is racist.

The problem isn't really specific makeup techniques which can be used in multiple ways and in different combinations. The problem is when people INTENTIONALLY attempt to make themselves look "asian" when they are not, which is weird. I'm a dark-skinned Asian and western makeup trends definitely helped me work with my skin tone. Beauty standards in asia idealize white skin, and it was through tanned and dark ladies in the west that I learned to reject the bleaching pills and procedures and get a flattering blush color and not over pluck my brows.
I know I'd be heart broken if I was told to stop doing my makeup the way other POC Americans do theirs.

The eyelid fold that covers your eyelid and gives that look occurs more commonly on East Asian people but can also happen in other races, it’s just a stereotype. I'm a cosplayer. I use white liner on my lower lash line all the time, it makes my eyes look more cartoon-ish and bigger.
I also do my winged liner from my lower lash line because I have hooded eyes and it looks way better. Not once has anyone ever thought I was Asian. I still look white as hell doing both of those techniques.

Im not asian and I have almond shaped eyes and that type of makeup that u say is "asian fishing" fits my eye shape very well (I'm black x Hispanic) I'm all here for Asians defending their community I also defend them too as I've seen what they have to go through thru my little sister (she's blasian) but gatekeeping that type of eyeliner won't make anything better. The problem isn't really specific makeup techniques which can be used in multiple ways and in different combinations. The problem is when people INTENTIONALLY attempt to make themselves look "asian" when they are not, which is weird.
