It shows you performing consistently over many years isn't easy at all. Espcially winning major championships over a long period is very, very hard indeed. Merlene Ottey kind of had a career of performing at a high level over a long period but she wasn't really much of a major Championship winner winning two world championship 200m titles (one because Gwen Torrence was disqualified because of lane violations) but she pretty much always seem to be in the mix from 1980 to 2000 (about 20 years). Shelly ann Fraser-Pryce enjoyed a period between 2008 to 2022 of winning her first and last Championship unheard of for women's sprinting. Elaine actually has had a very great career winning back to back Olympic doubles( never before done) but going beyond two seasons winning a 100m title has only been done by two athletes and they are Shelly ann Fraser-Pryce who has won seven (7) seasons and Gail Devers who have won three (3) different seasons. So it's not that Elaine has been so inconsistent but she is pursuing very rare real estate in going victorious in the 100 for more than two seasons.
While I agree with most of what you said, I think Elaine had a very great shot at achieving more titles especially the elusive world titles but I think some very unfortunate decisions derailed her achievements. Nevertheless she has done well for herself.
Elaine's main problem was stupidity. Like anancy, she thought she knew it all. Wasted a lot of time negotiating money and changing coaches. If something is not broken, don't fix it. I do believe if she is not injured, she can break the record.
@darkmatters5940, Indeed Elaine did very well with coach Stephen Francis, but the way she left him, I doubt if he will take her back. She more than any of the female athletes, is the most likely to go under 10.50.
I kinda disagree. Smith is a BRILLIANT coach who has made many champions, arguably the best coach in the business. However, I’m not sure they are an appropriate match based upon what he offers and what she’s got. Smith knows everything about everything…simply an absolute genius. However, Elaine has been working with a genius who knows everything about everything as well, and her knowledge is insane. Whereas Smith would tell her how to run with proper form, why, etc., Elaine already knows those things. Her issue is her fitness and mental state, and as a result, I kinda think she needs more of a warrior who will work her out in the gym and workout her proper muscles, and fix her mind. Therefore, I kinda think she needs someone like Dennis Mitchell, or something, but that may be bad because ShaCarri & them are there and her being there will likely benefit ShaCarri and especially Melissa and TT more than anything. Dennis Mitchell seems to be the right coach because he tends to take folks who already have talent, and bring out their best. I just feel Smith will do more teaching her things she already knows.,
