When I was in high school, I think in 2010 I was able to take a full days cab ride across the entirety of this line and back as a part of a school project. I was blown away that they let me do it. Still one of the coolest things ever. Glad that I got to experience it but sad that the line will be out of use. There wasn’t much opportunity for traffic over it though and even back then they where stuck at a 15 mph cap, if even that. It took hours to go only a few miles.
So after all this time someone decided that there was a flooding issue and that the tracks were in the way. How about the last 110 years. Nothing ever happened. Will this hurt the railroads business by not having this branch to operate on anymore? Beautiful area your in btw. Thanks for the video.
@@thesierrastandard7281 Oh that's terrible. I'd rather have the trestle saved as it's seen some tough times. Will the River Fox train only operate between the end of track and Sacramento or some other line? (Apologies if I'm getting the whole thing wrong, I don't even know where the River Fox train starts and ends!)
I've actually seen pictures of similar rebuilt locomotives and it seems that Railpower (the company that rebuilds them) puts in their own EMD copy-cat control stands in the cabs.

Great video. I love the P3 horn. Thank you for sharing. Thumbs up.
Amazing film! I love the photography and effects in the beginning!
Awesome footage!!
This marks the Western Railroad Museum’s portion of the SN line to be the only one remaining that is still active (albeit for tourism only)
this is still in service only for the river train
well fuck. that link is critical, to the company and future developments.
what hsppened to the last load they spotted?

I'm not sure how much it will affect the company, the line is already in bad shape and was slowly becoming a money loser.
@@thesierrastandard7281 ok, thanks for the info. Your right about the track, it needs a lot of work for sure.
Apologies but, are they tearing down the trestle too?
@@cambridgeh.lutece6658 not yet, but in the future there is a possibility

It makes sense, the line looks to be in very bad shape
wow those tracks look like spaghetti!!
Surprised those gensets have an actual horn valve, not an electronic switch
I believe its because they retained the original control stands from the former Southern Pacific GP9 it was rebuilt from

So is it shut forever
if you can use your eyes and read the description you'll find out
