- North Carolina is one of America's largest livestock-producing states, including hog production. However, handling hog waste has raised challenges in meeting new air and water quality requirements. We'll discover how that challenges is prompting new efforts by agriculture, education and private industry.
Holy smokes...Sarah Gardner sure is stunning. As of this writing, 12 years have passed since the publication of this video. I'm curious to know how widespread the technologies have become.

Can anyone tell me how the hell this hog farmer has reduced his carbon footprint by 6,500 metric tons?!?!???!
Those lagoons are secondary methane producers when the bacteria chomp down.
I was thinking the same thing! 😂😂
@@andyh7537 the carbon from just having a sess pool that sprays water vs these tubes is 10 fold a difference. The foot print is still there, the out put is not as high
Over the entire scale, they estimated that the carbon footprint of pork for every kg (~2.2 lbs) of pig carcass weight has an emissions intensity of 6.1 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent.
- The collected biogas from the pig waste can be burned to generate electricity, which would otherwise have likely been generated by coal or natural gas.
- As seen in the video, the solids from the waste are collected instead of being thrown into the environment.
curious about how antibiotics are processed through the machine
