  • On this October day we spent quite a bit of time on Dutch John Trail #90 after having fun riding on Rocky Mountain Loop Trail #92. Our 3rd Generation 4Runners travel up the entrenched hill climb easily. The hill climb does provide a little adrenaline rush for the person in the driver's seat. If you're going to Uwharrie, be sure to go on the Dutch John Trail. The hill is one of the challenges offered. The Rocky Switch back is another great challenge spot on Dutch John.

    I was out there on Sunday, I did the Dickey Bell trail downhill from the loop. I'm less comfortable downhill than up so when I saw the opportunity to run it, I took it.

    Looks like a nice trail system. I would like to try it in my 80 series Land Cruiser.

    Best 4runner ever made IMO is a 2000 SR5 Highlander edition 5 speed with e-locker. That is the pinnacle of what a 4runner should be. Unfortunately they are next to impossible to find.

      Man, I wish my rig had the e-locker option. That one you have is a keeper. Don't ever sell that Highlander edition.

      It's a breeze when it isn't wet. If you've got 4wD and any manner of ground clearance you will breeze through it all and barely break a sweat on the one choppy section at the hill climb.

    How do you remove the plastic mudflaps behind the rear wheels

    • @Wuffpacker
      @Wuffpacker  2 года назад +1

      Greetings. Removing the mudflaps on the rear is mostly simple. There are three 10 mm bolts to remove and two plastic plug type inserts. Remove these items and it should come loose for removal.

    Is that lifted with 37's? What upgrades on height/wheels?

    • @Wuffpacker
      @Wuffpacker  2 года назад +2

      My 2002 Limited has 275/70/17s tires - Falken Wildpeak AT3ws. These are 32s. The wheels are from a 4th Gen 4Runner (17s). Has a 3 inch suspension lift. Toytec coilovers with Bilstein 5100s front; Toytec rear springs with the Boss shocks.
      The other silver 4Runner in this video is a 2001 SR5 Sport Model. This truck has 285/75/16s (33s) along with the Old Man Emu suspension lift (about 2.5 inches) and two inch body lift. In some more recent videos on the channel, you'll see the SR5 now has 35s.
      Thanks for asking!

    Nicely made video. Did you do the hill in 4 low? 4 hi?

    • @Wuffpacker
      @Wuffpacker  3 года назад +1

      After going up this hill a few times, I found using 4 low to be the best option. There's a tricky spot about half way up the hill. The steep part is at the very top of the hill. A bunch of fun can be had on the entrenched hill climb.
