  • Microsoft's office in Munich is an early example of a New Work environment. Katinka Magnussen (Blackboat Advisor for New Workspaces) has visited our partner Karl Aigner and documented the ideas, the innovation but also the potential for improvement. More than 90k people visit the office every year, but there was no video on RUclips that showed everything. Here it is... The first complete walk through. A lot of it is in German Audio, since Karl shared a lot behind the scenes. We made the effort and added subtitles for those of you who follow us from abroad.

Christoph Magnussen is one of the crew members and founder at Blackboat. A digital consultancy specialized in New Work and Cloud Collaboration. He is an entrepreneur since high school. After graduating from University of St. Gallen (HSG), he co-founded a mobile phone reCommerce company which grew from 1M to 31M in revenue in less than 5 years. To scale the business, he wouldn’t just add manpower. Instead, he was obsessed with increasing individual productivity through latest online collaboration tools and new work methods.
This new digital setup triggered many requests from fellow entrepreneurs to support them in building the same environment in their companies. This is how the idea for his company Blackboat was born. A tech-focused company designed to help leaders increase team efficiency by leveraging cloud tools and fast communication. Blackboat helps you identify your requirements and choose the cloud solution that suits your needs. Additionally, we will support you in implementing these solutions such as G Suite, Office 365, Bettercloud, FireEye, Slack etc. and build a scalable setup that goes beyond the standard off-the-shelf product from these providers.
Christoph is also a keynote speaker, and he shares his experiences, thoughts, and ideas about Digital Transformation (Digitalisierung, New Work), Team Collaboration, Leading Virtual Teams, #EndOf90iesIT #OntheWaytoNewWork.

What a great place to work! I like the balance between workspace and space for breaks, fitness and meditation... this provides a very positive way of working, guess the employees are very happy to work there! Great insights, thanks for sharing! This is the future!

I prefer WeWork layouts, not so much echo as there is in the middle of that building and also less clinical. And of course Google G-Suite doesn’t really need too much training...What i did like was the "space" and the light and of course the MS Technology Centre. All too often we don't appreciate how all these collaborative tools can work together and I guess trying them in this centre would show how it all could work for your business.

Christophe: I really like the “Spotify Engineering Culture” videos. They explain the the structure of problem solving and team organization. Then the video shows how physical space is designed to fit the structure of team organization.

Christophe: I liked this video. I care a great deal about optimally designing workspaces. I have a few suggestions: video was a little too long, it could have been edited to 10-15 minutes. My key comment is that different jobs require different work environments. I would like to know how the Microsoft office tries to optimize for the type of work being conducted.
