haha well put mate. That's my whole ethos. I just want to make the best video possible, I think if you make content you believe in, people will be drawn to it. I will be diversifying what I create here, I have big plans for the channel, but music always held and holds a special place for me. Thanks for the kind words mate!
Actually Kurt was a Pisces and their introspection can be seen as being weak -- Courtneys sign is Cancer and according to a biography about Kurt she gifted him a heart shaped box when they first met -- I know she says its referring to something else -- and perhaps its true
I love this song. I don't say it often but to me this track is perfect, the music, the production and the lyrics, Kurt really was a genius and the whole band sound awesome here. I love the subtle interlocking guitar in the verse and how menaching and heavy the bass it, Dave's drumming being subdued and then crashing into life. Probably the best song they ever did, though my favourite, and reccomendation (if you haven't already) is Serve the Servants. Great reaction too btw I will be subscribing.
I love your reactions, very fresh, nothing like those fake ones that find everything amazing, with exaggerated expressions, starting on the first 2 seconds of each song. And you really pay attention to detail, and you discover new things that I didn’t notice by myself, in songs that I’ve been listening for over 20 years. Keep up the good work.
Been a nirvana fan since just before nevermind was released (yep I'm an old one) but it's really exciting to see someone hear them for the first time and their interpretation of both the lyrics and how it's played. I'm not a big fan of reaction videos but you actually put effort into why you like the song and Yr own take on what the lyrics could mean that I really enjoy listening to, sometimes breathing new life into songs I've listened to a million times already. Keep up the good work, you deserve a hell of a lot more subs and I'm sure you'll get them!!
Dude! I love that you take it that one step further and analyze the poetry of the lyrics. Sets you apart. I don't subscribe to any other reaction channel, and that's pretty much why.
A catchy love song lamenting regret and a feeling of dread with contradicting lyrics? Kurt was so good at that! Definitely one of his most powerful songs. He sounds trapped, unhappy and wistful about love. CL is responsible for this mess and it didn’t end well. But it’s a great song nonetheless! Good reaction!
@@SyedRewinds hey maybe try For Squirrels - Mighty KC ruclips.net/video/IeY8tYAFrMw/видео.html Song was written in the wake of Kurt's suicide but has a second (unintentional) meaning because the band was in a terrible accident in their van coming home from a show. The singer, guitarist and road manager was killed two weeks before album came out. Please try this out you will be blown away ✌
Really love your breakdown of songs, everybody can take lyrics their own way. It means different things to different people, but usually you'll give me a new outlook on a song I thought I had nailed down for years. Bravo Sir.
I already liked this song but what sent it over the edge for me was hearing Ramin Djwadi's cover in Westworld. It really highlighted the beautiful melody.
There has always been a story that the line about priceless advice was something he used to say to CL in a sarcastic way. The umbilical noose was when she got pregnant with their daughter, so now he was irretrievably tied to her even if they broke up. They had a very volatile relationship. Heart shaped box was also, supposedly a double meaning. She gave him heart shaped boxes as gifts, but it also referred to a certain part of female anatomy. He supposedly locked himself in a room or closet to write this after a nasty fight with her.
Excellent reaction! As Always :D The video that accompanies this single is also a very interesting work of art. Nirvana's beautiful melodies combined with thrashing choruses their formula that never ages or gets boring. Look forward to more reactions particularly from Led Zep and Nirvana
Potent, poisoned take on love. Always loved it. You MUST treat yourself to the official vid too. Always the interesting insightful take on the material, Syed. Cheers.
Great analysis as always. Keep it up! Not sure if you ever plan on doing it, but it would be dope if you did Nirvana album reactions now that you’ve sampled stuff from Bleach, Nevermind and In Utero. So many good songs! Also, suggestion: Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam. The Seattle scene was full of good tunes.
Early Pearl Jam kinda sucks. I feel like theres not much similarity with Nirvana and that era of Pearl Jam. Nirvana is more like Wipers, Dinosaur Jr, Hole, L7 sound. Early Pearl Jam is kind of bland . I liked Pearl Jam a lot more after Vitology..Spin the Black Circle, Do the Evolution and those type songs have a more punk vibe.. so much better than the shit on Ten imo. 1994-1998 Pearl Jam sounds a lot more like Nirvana.
@@frank9367 I agree. The context of my comment was replying to someone basically saying "if you like nirvana, you'll also like Pearl Jam's Ten/Jeremy" All I was saying was that's not necessarily true, because as a big Nirvana fan myself, I despise the album Ten, but I really enjoy a lot of other Pearl Jam albums. Just giving my opinion is all. I agree that PJ is good in it's own way
Great reactions, Syed, and 'analysis' too. I've noticed you have a thing for the quiet/loud dynamic, as well as lyrics that evoke even when they may seem somewhat nonsensical or obscure. Cobain was a master of those (as well as coming up with great melodies). You might want to check out some Pixies tracks for more of the same. Quiet/loud, weirdly charismatic front man (Black Francis), strange evocative lyrics. Came slightly before Nirvana and were influential. Keep it up!
This always reminds me of this autobiographical video of Kurt and Courtney shooting up and him nodding out while holding their young baby Frances in his lap while she is running around him babbling nonsense, the desolation of their brokenness was so disturbing.. Very brave of their now grown daughter to release that footage years later. The despair was palpable, an image so shocking and so very real.
Haven't seen anyone mention the double, but not only was Kurt a Pisces, it is also the sign of the fish. In a sense, he was "Hooked" on both Courtney and Heroin (Quite the emotional tangle, I'm sure)...I know how it is bro, Rest in Power!
You familiar with System of a Down? If not, you've gotta check them out. Songs to start with: Toxicity, Chop Suey, Sugar, BYOB, Question. Guarantee you'll be glad you listened!!
Courtney stalked Kurt with heart shaped boxes until he gave in. She's a Cancer and he was a Pisces. She dragged him down in different ways to his music, emotions, life, everything. It can be easy for a Pisces to be abused and then much later realize it. Trust me . Both my Sun and Moon are in Pisces. It's happened to me multiple times. It can be frustrating.
I’d really like for you to check out Serve the servants/R@pe me (In Utero) or Breed/Drain You/Something in the way (Nevermind). but I think you’ll eventually go through their entire catalog yourself 😂
I subbed since you have a quick analysis on great songs, like MMA, did a reaction to Basketball (you ought to react to oldschool mixtapes like Jordan, Bird, Magic and you'll get more views than Lebron) and play Elden Ring, which i just started myself.
Really enjoying the ride. Have patience my man. If you build it, they'll come.

I would recommend a look at the original music video created for this...Very surreal...

Support my man, sending you good vibes from California!
You have the best analyses on RUclips.
“Forever in debt to your priceless advice” is meant in the most cynical, sarcastic way possible.
Tons of great stuff on In Utero, but the Unplugged album is also a must before one can start to appreciate this band's real depth and importance.

One thing about Kurt is he tended to write his songs at the last second. You can tell this and teen spirt are worked out. I love unplugged. R.I.P
Yeah, wasn’t on a plain written literally in the studio as they were recording it? 😂 when you hear the lyrics back you can kind of tell
Heart shaped box is not one of them. This is really personal to him, like pennyroyal terá and must In Útero lyrics.

Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, their joke radio friendly song off in Utero, great song that dives into fame, privacy and drug addiction.
