Is it possible to import Google maps into Unity to make custom race tracks? I had an idea to make a racing game where the user can copy real world roads and make race tracks out of them.
What a destructive workflow... First you ignore the heightmap's raw data by using a png, then you warp the map projection by resizing it in gimp and you ball park the height values. In the end nothing is correctly scaled.
I have tried several time but it is not applied. in the last step when i press the map button a pop up msg shows on window that "resize " calculating texture. please help me
Good good job, but terrain.party is never ok, always problem . Terrain.party is one wrong project unstable and not usual. I would like use another map.
I'm trying to find zhangjiajie national park on terrain party through search but I can't. Tried both the names in English and Chinese (modern and traditional) but the area isn't being located, how do I manually find a location as the language in that area is Chinese and translation isn't being possible
Does it have the resolution to pick up large buildings and bridges? Or is there a way of using the data from google earth etc. to get real world buildings as well?

terrain party error, Application error An error occurred in the application and your page could not be served. If you are the application owner, check your logs for details. You can do this from the Heroku CLI with the command heroku logs --tail , help ?
This worked good. Thanks for the video. I wish the terrain.party tool was able to export height maps in smaller sizes than 8km. I tried an 8km terrain and for my first person shooter game it took me almost an hour to walk from one end of the map to the other. I can't imagine the time it would take to add textures and trees and roads and all sorts of stuff to this size of a terrain. I know you can cut down the height map in Photoshop and I did end up halving it but it is a lot harder to tell what I am cutting out of the height map versus doing it on a satellite image.

Here is one site I found that exports heightmaps tangrams.github.io/heightmapper/ All you need to do is crop it to size. I don't know where they get their data from though so I would recomend doing some research before using it in released projects.
@@zh3708 As mentioned in the description terrain.party does go down from time to time. It usually comes back up in a few weeks or so. Otherwise you just need to find another site that provides heightmap data and crop it down to size. One alternative I found was this site tangrams.github.io/heightmapper/ I cannot speak on the legality on using this data in comercial projects though.

Are the measurements real? For instance 1 pixel = 1m in the real world is it the correct size after you imported it?
It downloads only txt file and Can't download any other data ...What is the issue here?

I have seen assets for this though on the asset store.

Great job but some heightmaps just don´t do anything. For example, a heightmap made of Ob swamps did nothing to my terrain. :(( :D

Maybe a but cumbersome, but I guess you could overlay the satellite image in photoshop to give you a better feel of the terrain you're cropping?

There is a download link in the top right, it's just how Gdrive handles Unity packages.

In the import settings for the image you have to tick the read write box to ensure that the script is able to read from the png. This is shown at 2:25
