Great video. I currently own a mix of 56/73/730/732 and wish I had seen this tutorial 25 years ago when I installed my first Toyo. Thanks for taking the time to put this up. 👍
This is the best informational video I have ever seen. He definitely knows what he is talking about and delivers the info clear and cleanly. One question what type of lubrication is best and what adhesive is used to adhere the burner matt to the bottom of the chamber on a Model 73? Thanks for great service you provide.

Hi. My apartment has a Laser 530. Is the on/off button supposed to be red/orange constantly? I could swear it wasn't lit up the 2 weeks I've lived here, and now it is lit up.
Hello, attached is a link to REE's website and the part number to the gap gauge. I have the measurements for the gap that I can send you if you reach out to support@ruralenergy.com. www.ruralenergy.com/product_search/?q=10005027
Joseph, what type of heater do you have, Laser heater or water/hydronic? Send an email to: support@ruralenergy.com with your answer & I will send you a document, depending on your heater type.
My laser 560 blew up inside and deformed and partially separated my heat exchanger. Like to know what may have caused this. Before investing hundreds on it. It was running damaged like this for awhile but was unaware.
Replacing an old monitor with a 732. Can I point the flue pipe intake vertical? Pointed up intake, capped the one pointed down, with exhaust pipe elbow out the right side and into the unit. Is this fine or does the exhaust elbow have to be on the bottom?
@@livelifewarm thank you for the reply. If you don’t mind a deeper question: I guess I don’t understand why my 30 model (with the same exhaust) can be turned to have the intake on the bottom and exhaust on the side, Show in figure 10 and 11 in the laser 30 manual, but the 732 can’t. It looks like the same exhaust # 20479891. Could you give a technical reason?
@@Tony_AKUT, the manufacturer has confirmed the following: You can rotate the “T” portion of the Flue pipe for the L-73x series so the Exhaust points anywhere from 90° to the left (up to a 9 O’clock position) down and around to 90° to the right (up to a 3 O’clock position), just like all our other Direct vented Heater units. However, you can’t point the Exhaust higher than 90° from either side, as that would create downward venting of the exhaust…which is a big no! Of course, you must ensure that the word “TOP” or the arrow printed upon the round interior mounting plate (located behind the “T” portion of the Flue Pipe) is ALWAYS up at the Top/ 12 O’clock position… Hope the above helps…
Check the flame sensor. With the L-730 off & unplugged, access the burner assembly. Find the single wire going up & pull straight down. Take the 2 Phillips screws off, rotate the flame sensor to the 3:00 position & remove. If dirty, clean with Emory cloth.
I have a 56 model, when I set my starting at 69 degrees the heater starts and within minutes it jumps up to76 degrees on it's own , also I happen to go to the kitchen and I hear the unit start by itself when It's not calling for heat, I need answers please. Thanks 2/24/24
@@francistopkok33 wow. I have three units that were installed around 2007. We bought the house in 2018. To the best of my knowledge, I believe they have never had any added burner coating. What issues, if any, has this longterm usage created? And thank you for your answer.
73 that won't start --- EE 2 code. Notice that it is trying to burn (yellow flame visible at med burn start) but then we get the EE2 and everything shuts down. Changed the filter at the tank but we were/are running ULSD per recommendation from our dealer. If this is a flame sensor or burner issue, where do I find the info for servicing it? EDIT -- found your videos and was able to get to burner. Mat is toast. Burner ring rusted through. Lots of carbon. Bought new in 2004 and have only changed the outside filter up to this point 16 yrs later.
On my 3 month old Laser 730, when running on high the top of the heat chamber where it connects to the heat exchanger turns a faint orange glow. It's just a 1 inch or so section glowing. Is this normal? Flame is stable, clean, and blue.
Thank you for watching our video! We're sorry to hear you're having trouble with your unit. Unfortunately, we're unable to troubleshoot specific issues through RUclips comments. Your best option would be to reach out to the dealer where you purchased the stove for assistance. They should be able to provide the support you need. Best of luck, and feel free to check back if you have any other questions!
You don't show how to remove the laser 30 heat exchanger. There is sheet metal that seems to need removal, also. I've disassembled to this point and I'm stopped.
I have aToyostove L-72 Laser heater. I had it serviced on 10/26, all was working but we never turned it on after the tech left until my home inspection. There was a 2 second power surge before the heater was inspected and it never turned on. My tech now says I need a circuit board (really?) because the surge caused the chip to malfunction and he doesn’t know how to install one.🤥 He offered me a L-73 he has for $1k or just disconnect the one I have and he will remove it.🤔 My Toyostove is clean, like new, perfect.
WOW, nice job on keeping your heater operating so long. TOYOTOMI hasn't made the L-72 for over thirty years. It is recommended to plug your heater into something like a Tripp lite lc1200 line conditioner to avoid damaging your circuit board. Unfortunately, parts are difficult to find for the older units. You might try replacing the fuses on the main circuit board - if that does not work, you will probably need to replace the unit.
You guys make it look easy to remove the burner assembly from the OM-22. It is NOT! Not if it's connected to the flue pipe! Would you PLEASE provide some helpful tips to successfully separate the burner assemble from the flue pipe without pulling muscles, throwing your back out, or cursing so loudly that the neighbors hear?!?! Seriously, those metal hoses do not want to come apart!
The flue pipe connections develop carbon that you can loosen by heating it up with a torch. In the attached video you can see how to heat it up to loosen it at the 1:00 mark.
Installed an OM-122DW water heater about a year ago. It's leaking from the bottom and water drips from the burner (?). It's still running, producing hot water. No error messages, no shut down. No service available here. Any suggestions?
Hello, there is a chance the leak is on the Heat Exchanger. Where do you live? If there is no service nearby then the unit can be shipped to the nearest dealer to you for diagnosis & repair. On Rural Energy's website there is a dealer locator on the bottom, zoom in & the blue dots separate & their contact information is on there. Otherwise you can call Rural Energy Technical Support at 907-868-7952. www.ruralenergy.com/

You could have a Bad Thermistor or a Bad Main Control Board. Try to relocate the Temperature Thermistor and see if that solves the problem.
