I went to see Ashra in Regents Park in London, in around 1978, when Harald Grosskopf was the drummer. What a gig! When this album came out (on the now-defunct German label Sky) I bought it straight away and I was sooooo pleased with it. The first track, which translates as 'so far so good' is one of the best electronic music tracks I've ever heard. In fact the whole album is a classic and is up there with TD's Phaedra, and Rubycon, Ashra's New Age of Earth and Michael Hoenig's Departure from the Northern Wasteland. Fabulous!
I have always thought, since I discovered this back in the early 80's, one of the key albums of the defunct SKY label, that the richness, the value and how deeply this can touch you and move you is its simplicity, its honesty, the absence of bragging and pyrotechnics, its emotional intensity and its floating character. How it can take you to remember unforgettable sunsets over the sea horizon or revolving clouds on the bluest of skies. No way anyone can remain indifferent. Danke, thank you, gracias Harald Grosskopf, thank you Bureau B for bringing this back from the history of essential electronic rock.
