I have been washing my clothes in cold water for over a year now and I can say I see absolutely no difference in warm/cold water. My clothes stained with dirt and oil from a machining job I had would not come out with warm water, and they won't come out with cold water, the clothes are now permanent work clothes. I also save $$ by not using as much electric.
My problem is not with cleaning clothes but rather with washing out the detergent. I have very sensitive skin and need to rinse out all of the detergent. Does warm water do a better job of rinsing out detergent?
Warm water doesn’t more effectively rinse out detergent, whether you use hot or cold water, i advise using a double rinse cycle and only 2 tbsp of detergent and definitely no fabric softener, especially if you have sensitive skin
@@shaunmcinnis566 lol I use oxiclean, it works pretty well on removing odors and It works in cold water as well. Ye, and it's not really safe to use warm or hot water on colors.
Hot water makes a world of difference. Don't even try. Do you need to wash with hot water everytime, no. But when you need to get things out, hot water is the way. But read your labels. Some garmet cannot be washed with warm or hot water.
Completely unscientific testing and vague as hell. I love how stations are always giving us advice except that that have no expertise on anything except they know how to talk.
Exactly. Washing in cold is nothing more than a conspiracy to gunk up machines with gook so they can sell you a new one sooner than necessary. I’ve been washing my stuff in warm for years and never had a problem, never had anything fade either. Sometimes, clothes get more wear from wearing them, not washing’s.
Oh BS!!!! I wash everything in scalding hot water and it comes out way cleaner than if I did it in cold ,,,if what they say is the truth then why do hospitals hotels use steaming hot to clean their stuff??? Point made
not saying your wrong, but Hospitals would want their sheets sanitized as people are usually sick, and Heat kills most germs. Hotels likely do it for the same reason. they want to eliminate all traces of the other guest, and oders, hence hot washing. would you stay at a hotel/hospital if they weren't REALLY making sure everything on those sheets were dead?
There’s a difference between cleaning items and sanitising items. Cold water works on some stains better than hot water, however, to sanitise an item you need hot water. In a hospital setting this is the most important thing.
another video that is unsure rate from the beginning… It either is or is not… Not may be better… This video is more about the cost and mother Earth than answering the real question.other video say the science proves heat vibrates the molecules loosens the stains better than cold water. this video of course was not talking about mother Earth or the cost they were just simply asking the question that you are asked here… We're not asking you about the cost
Wash your hands in cold water see how clean it gets. It will not get very clean and I’m not talking about the clean people. I’m talking about the people who has oil or dirt on their hands. By having a real job. Because if we’re talking about people who works in an office, they don’t actually need to wash their clothes because their clothes is not dirty.
well partly true....if the tap water is under 40 degrees you need to use warm cycle.....as soap will not work very well under 40 degrees, do your home work....lazy...reporters....

Me came here as a student for an answer but had to go the other way round
IMO, cold water doesn't break down oils, grease, germs etc..
That is true. Warm water is always more effective on cleaning stains, but indeed it shortens the life of the fabric.
@@ylswsl2356 So it will last longer but it will stink?..lol. just kidding.

I am not going to change how I wash my clothes just to make some tree hugger happy. I want them clean and will do what ever is best.
Then I guess using warm water would take the guesswork out of whether to use hot/cold water.
Nothing gets clean in cold water 😒
I only wash my clothes when I need to shrink clothes.
Try washing your dirty dishes with cold water and tell me what happens?

I don't wash my hands in laundry detergent for over an hour tho...
You’re comparing skin to fabric? Okay…
So.....people who work office jobs should never wash their clothes??
Reeks of boomer
