This is a great video for all online language tutors to watch. Many tutors (especially newbies) have no clue of what they should do during a trial lesson.
I am studying TEFL and found this introductory lesson very illuminating and useful. It definitely takes the stress out of an actual interview to watch it happening live, as such. I am inspired by you. Thank you
After listening to this lesson , if I were to give a feetback on this, I will say you can always repeat such lessons . By so doing this student might just take let say five more years to be really fluent. He is at the verge of getting to becoming fluent.
Thank you Martin for a very helpful authentic Preply trial lesson. It was good to see how things worked out and how you were able to guide Yasu. I am a new tutor to Preply and am hoping to help adult and business students too. I have gained much from watching your videos (I'm subscribed). Today's, being genuine, has helped me understand and appreciate things even more.
I have no idea how to conduct the trial lesson so I will be following this word for word, even if my student isn't Japanese. They will now be Japanese. Thank you.

I’m a Venezuelan English teacher starting at Preply. Thanks so much for this video. I have been teaching English for more than 20 years but I have never taught online. Your video is outstanding ❤
Hi Martin, your level of professionalism and teaching technique is inspiring, it's easy to tell you've been doing it a while even before your mentioned it in the lesson. Have you been a CELTA trainer before?
Thanks a lot my best tutor i was waiting for your upcoming video since i watched your last video and i was missing you a lot as well. It has been a while. ❤❤❤❤ Now i am cloud on nine today.🎉🎉🎉
Your typing is amazing. I type only one finger when i write any text🤣🤣🤣 I want to write a fantasy novel and grammar topics from basic to PhD level. Is it a good idea.isn't it ?? I am non native from pakistan and i am a college student as well. I love your every video. I want to become a CELTA teacher like you. Give me a piece of advice please. I'll wait for your text.
@nasirchnasir6970 thank you so much and with practice you will become an amazing teacher … and an amazing typewriter too! Do the CELTA asap and you won’t regret it. 😃
@@ELTExperiences My best tutor i can't take the course nowadays because i have no single penny. But CELTA is my dream goal i will definitely take this course after collecting money. I will do my best to fulfill my goal. I am studying in the semester two in the BS English field.after completing my graduation i will do M.phil in the ELT field. After that i will take the CELTA course because i want to be an expert in the English language teaching first. 😊😊🎇🎆
I love your calm nature. Commenting for support. (There's an AI tool that can type out what it hears - I think Zoom can do it too) - I'm sure you knew that but just incase, there's my 2 cents worth. hehe
Have you got any questions... I never understand why people uses "got" Have you any questions... Another thing that irks me is inproper use of "yes" We are trying to teach students proper English - I cannot stress that we should correct them. Not "yep", "yup" but "yes". My ears cring when I see and hear this being taught. I have recently come across your videos and subscrive and do find your content imformative. Thank you for thaking the time in providing us with advise.
I’m pleased you find my content useful and informative despite my flaws in my spoken language, particularly with grammar. We all have our strengths as well as our pet peeves. One of my pet peeves is the incorrect use of verbs in the present perfect with native speakers. I suppose I should adjust the “Have you (got) any questions?” to “What questions have you got?” as this would get students to think and is more open rather the use of a closed question. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the content despite some of the questionable uses of English.
Hello I really love your videos. You are the best Tutor on preply. Please I would like to know where and how you get your teaching materials I am curious 😅
Do you think it would be worth applying to work with Preply if I am free to teach lessons only weekday mornings? I'll start a part time job in September but will definitely need a top up. Thank you for your videos, they are enjoyable and very informative. 😊
@@hummingbirdcage5098 Preply is certainly a worthwhile side hustle which can help. It helps me keep my head above financial water so to speak. You just need to remember that you need to report your self-employed earnings and pay National Insurance.
I used the Google Document to write down my notes for the trial lesson and give spoken feedback with it. I share the notes with the student and I find the Preply Whiteboard a little awkward to use with the student so don't use it.
This is a great question and thank you for your comment. For me, I try to note down as much as what the student says - both examples of good utterances as well as areas for improvement. I try to be as balanced as possible and then provide positive feedback as well as scaffold language for learners. In a way, I find making a note of what is uttered reminds me about different aspects of what the student has said and then this provides a key example of my dedication. So, yes I do this in every trial lesson.
I have a question🙋 I am teaching Hindi on Preply I teach take trial on my whiteboard (real board not digital) but after taking trial students don't continue with me. I don't know tha reason Please help me. I don't have a single student I did 3 trials
I’ve had multiple students take trial lessons out not even attend their scheduled class. I would recommend that you move on and focus on how you could improve your trial lesson. Think about how students responded, were they positive? Think about your material, could you make it better.

Hello I really love your videos. You are the best Tutor on preply. Please I would like to know where and how you get your teaching materials I am curious 😅
I get my teaching material from LinguaHouse (www.linguahouse.com/) but made my very own trial lesson slides which I use for all my trial lessons.

Can you do the same for a trial lesson that lasts 25 minutes..? What about the exam?
I’ll share a 25 minute trial lesson once I do one. 😊
So the speaking Feedback is it on PowerPoint or on preply ?
