Well stated regarding the digital island. Carriers should serve as the primary point of contact, reflecting the island's image and delivering this service flawlessly.
Nice one Frank, open and honest as ever. looks a good ship and don't look forward to travelling on her (Him) when it's usually rough, vomit is vomit no matter what :)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall there was an RN warship during WWII called HMS Manxman? Specifically she was a 'fast minelayer' and was one of the fastest 'full size' warships in the world. She could steam at a maximum of 44 knots and was one of the few surface vessels to be able to get into and out of Malta. Quite a heritage inheritance.
Great video. Saw your other Manxman video of the ship arriving in Douglas, then we saw the Manxman doing trips out to sea when were in Douglas the week after it arrived for a few days (house hunting - took the "quick" option by flying from Liverpool) Should be heading back again shortly to check more houses, so WILL be doing the ferry next time so we can bring the car along too; need to see more of the IoM other than Douglas & the steam train ride to Port Erin
What a great guided tour of the Manxman, can't believe how good it looks when I am used to coming across on the Ben, I only live a few minutes from Heysham terminal so I will have to give it a trip over soon on the Manxman in my van and have a few days on the Island. 👍
Very good, thank you for uploading. I am coming over in October, booking was for the Manxman but it's been changed back to the Ben, I don't mind good old Ben 😂
They should use the old one to do a service from Liverpool old port (Not Birkenhead) to Dublin, possibly even starting from Salford Quays down the Manchester Ship Canal and down the Mersey, then across the Irish Sea
That was a really nice and comprehensive tour. Very bright and spacious indeed. It’ll be interesting to see how she handles rough weather. Bit disappointed by the tiny open deck spaces. I presume the vast top deck is off limits to passengers?
The TV in the cabin worked in the end, the crew came to enter a password! 😁 Apart from the live TV, there is a local network movie and TV series library which I have used, since the live TV signal was lost at some point of crossing.
I'm looking forward to traveling on her, looks really good. It's a shame the imspc have dropped any Manx Gaelic from the announcements. Hopefully they will bring this back even if it's a simple "welcome onboard or thank you for traveling with us"
“A ship is called a she because there is always a great deal of bustle around her; there is usually a gang of men about; she has a waist and stays; it takes a lot of paint to keep her good-looking; it is not the initial expense that breaks you, it is the upkeep; she can be all decked out; it takes an experienced man to handle her correctly; and without a man at the helm, she is absolutely uncontrollable. She shows her topsides, hides her bottom and, when coming into port, always heads for the buoys.”
She seemed very quiet on the video. Is that the case when onboard? Incidentally Manxman is built to Heysham-max dimensions and is the biggest vessel that the port us able to handle
Hilarious, I seem to remember the old Manxman being a 'knocking-shop' in the port of Preston(mainland) many years ago. Sorry, a kind of night club...you might say.
It was indeed a nightclub in Preston docks for a number of years before sailing off, then fell into disrepair, and I think scrapped. Good times had by all. As a group, we went regularly. For reasons I can't remember, we hid one of the lads clothes in one of the lifeboats! No idea why he'd taken his clothes off, but there you go!
I came back from Douglas on the Manxman yesterday , really nice ship, straight on and away to Heysham. Heysham or should I say the people/staff at terminal at Heysham= An utter shambles. Does anyone who works their know what they are doing?? . On the ferry from Heysham to Douglas on Sunday before ,the staff turning up to start their shift were openly saying that no one had a clue and this from a security bloke ,English I might add, who had great fun telling us all how chaotic it was to work there. It was terrible . Whereas the return ferry from Douglas days later was seamless, . Please sort out the divots at Heysham who don’t have clue and have no interest in what they do.
Great video frank and a fantastic ship, really stunning, not shure what it will be like after a few thousand bikers trash it ?,.i agree with you about the power points being in the wrong place, and a bit of uniformity on the electric doors would be a better idea, like you said i can see "issues" with them after alot of use and abuse, as for lounges/cabins/food/drink i was pleasantly surprised,. prices were fairly reasonable on the whole,. (except for bottled water) but you accessed "free" drinking water ! Rough crossing anticipations hopefully will be lessened if the ship has stabilization fins ?,. you didn't say how much your ticket prices were ? Also whats prices for cars/vans/bikes/motorhomes ?,.But overall for a massive ship i think £80000000 well spent,. I will stick with mannanan sea cat as i sail from liverpool , its fast and reasonably comfy, and smooth to "on calm seas," i couldn't help but notice how quiet and smooth the manxman was, very impressive, good old out of sinc tvs made me laugh !,.
great video but the filming was not smooth when showing inside the lounge made me feel seasick as if i was on the ship itself but apart from that great video
Cost £80 Million - Fantastic value for money . Or you could have 2 Calmac ship by Fergusson marine for £400 million that don't work or are not finished .
Nice looking ship, But how many of those lounges will/could be closed off during the winter when its sailing with around a 100 people onboard ? Think the packet would make more money by leasing it out during the winter to someone else, Like they did with the lady or monas queen years ago, Just my thoughts,
Niarbyl Lounge looks a bit cramped, and lack of leg room. I'd rather sit in the bar than those cramped seats. Barrule lounge looks good but again lack of leg room on those recliners.
It's certainly a big ship, and not very pretty. The seat booking is something I've never seen on a ferry before. Is that just for the Niarbyl lounge? Do you have to pay extra to book a seat in the lounge?
She is the third Manxman owned by the IOMSPCo. The first was a turbine steamer, built in 1904 that saw service in both World Wars and was scrapped in 1949. Manxman II was the last of a class of six turbine steamers built after WWII. She served the Steam Packet from 1955 to 1982 when she was converted into a nightclub in Preston and then Hull. She was finally broken up at Sunderland in 2012.
And they're costing a lot more than the Manxman, for much smaller ships. So the question is, is it worth spending more to create jobs in the UK, or would you rather spend less money and get a cheap ship built in Korea?
No, it’s a temporary restriction while the Manxman crew gets used to the weather in the Irish Sea and practices manoeuvring in high winds. It’s in the news and part of the normal process.
@@amadeusiom It has been in the Irish Sea for 6 weeks. Sailing around with a crew on board. How much longer will it be before it is in full service and earning some income?
@@michaeltb1358 it’s entered fare paying service now and will fully take over from the Ben in a few weeks. Boats are complex things to run and they want to get it right.
I would like to know which is the best quiet place for People disabilities that don't like busyness on the New Ferry ? but wll say bad that no exclusive quiet area for people with disabilities but can't deal the busy ness on the ship alos gus tv have volume off again so people with disabilities have to get someone to read it to them to someone with disability a certain things it sounds like they didn't actually get people disabilities to test this all out before they finally finished it
Nice video and boat !! One little problem-and that is about you, I don’t know if this is out of habit-you tend to take the Holy Name of Jesus out of context, and are using “His Name in Vain” ! In future, please could you, think before you speak-and stop taking God’s name in vain !!!
We were lucky enough to be on on this sailing and you captured me and my husband waiting to be served for breakfast 😂

Most enjoyable and very informative, thanks for taking me along. Really appreciate all your hard work , till next time cheers and stay safe.
Thanks for the information. I look forward to going on him next year already booked
ALL vessels are SHE, despite the name. Nice vid, thanks for the ride!
The older couple near the airplane seats are actually my grandparents😂
Hey mate been a long time since steam packet day's. I was in payroll with Keith Dave and Andy. Liking your videos
Am I correct? Was a long time ago. Bout 20 years?

Nice ship, thanks for the tour 👍
Very good video of a lovely boat, job well done sir.
That ship looks nicer than some cruise ships I've been on. Pretty cool video, looking forward to a visit to your beautiful island one day!
Thanks for sharing
Great video thanks for all the information. Bar price is very reasonable to our price in Manchester. Looks great 👍😁
Great job Frank, been waiting for this one. Fantastic new ship, but those safety videos never seem to improve...

5:30 What a lovely friendly lady 🎉
Just watched this, I got sea sick due to your spinning camera work 😂
New maxman ship looks well nice food prices are real good price same for pints 😊
Most excellent ship detailed video I've ever seen - well done
Fantastic informative video as usual. I hope to come to the island in the future

Excellent video - would keep the "Ben" as back up for rough weather - the "Manxman" looks a bit plastic boat
to my untrained eye !
Is there a ferry from Dublin to the Isle of Man? Love this channel, thank you
There's one from Dublin via Manxferries, I just looked it up
Niarbyl Lounge looks a bit cramped, and lack of leg room. I'd rather sit in the bar than those cramped seats. Barrule lounge looks good but again lack of leg room on those recliners.
They have a walkway, then a gangplank! How quaint?
It's certainly a big ship, and not very pretty. The seat booking is something I've never seen on a ferry before. Is that just for the Niarbyl lounge? Do you have to pay extra to book a seat in the lounge?
Niarbyl lounge is free seating but you can reserve a specific seat by paying. All other lounges are paid for.
Sorry that these ferries don't have a number eg Manxman V, as they just keep reusing the names. Would be interesting to know how many there had been.

Is it faster than the old one? lol
A map should been included in the front of the video
Meanwhile in Scotland,, the new ferries are even further delayed.

So the question is, is it worth spending more to create jobs in the UK, or would you rather spend less money and get a cheap ship built in Korea?
Didn't last long. Ben my Chree back on the route - no news reports about why. So the Manxman can only operate in daytime and in fine weather?
No, it’s a temporary restriction while the Manxman crew gets used to the weather in the Irish Sea and practices manoeuvring in high winds. It’s in the news and part of the normal process.

You should say the only passenger sailing, the Ben is still the flag ship.

Moving😂

If there is 600 hundred people that don’t want to pay extra to sit ,is there space for them
A most unimpressive passenger entry port - and what a trek to get there.
Cant hear what he is saying poor
All boats are she
Nowhere near enough seating in the pet lounge again IMO
There are 2 pet lounges, so double the space compared to the Ben.
@@ManxieG11 the boat is twice the capacity tho
very low quality presentation and video
