Sade (Shar-day) has one of the most unique and enigmatic voices of the past century. To me she ranks right up there with the likes of Billie Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald. What I love most about her is that she is “future-retro-forward-past perfect,” meaning every song is a mood which somehow seems to simultaneously evoke both a memory you once had in the past OR will have in the future. Also, I love that her voice has this very ethereal feel to it, but it’s totally grounded in raw emotion. The fact that Sade rarely seeks the limelight, except to occasionally record and perform only seems to add to her lustre as an enduring artist and also somehow ensures her music remains fresh for multiple generations. I mean her label has got to love this woman because she is all bank with zero marketing costs! 💰💰💰💯
@@logic63 You’re correct. There’s also no “H” in the pronunciation, so it really should be pronounced “SAH-DAY.” “Sade” is taken from her real name Helen Folasade Adu.
I don’t know what it is but she can hold an audience in the palm of her hand. Her voice is like a warm mug of spiced buttered rum. My favorite Sade song and it makes cry every time is “Maureen.”
I actually saw Sade live in concert and it was a treat both musically and visually 👍. "Cherish The Day" was the encore in that show and it was overwhelming. You could feel that the people on stage were one unit, because Sade is actually a band, but of course she's the center of attention as the namesake and frontwoman. The other three core members are equally great. "Love Deluxe" is one of my favorite albums ever. For me, this is black music at its best. A great mix of soul, r'n'b and jazz.
Bulletproof Soul might be one of my favorites of hers. Well. No. All of them are my favorite. It’s like choosing a favorite child, they’re each special in their own way. Stronger Than Pride is also 💯. They all are 💯 😂
I was waiting for your reaction for Sade and finally it's here. She's one of my favorite singers because as you said it's more than music its an experience. I can just say there is long list of songs to discover.
I'm sure then you love the whole ''Love Deluxe''. This album was a mix RnB, trip hop, jazz, ambient and new age and was at her first years of neo-soul. You already react of three of the nine songs of this album (''No Ordinary Love'', this song and ''Bullet Proof Soul''). But ''No Ordinary Love'' was more longer in the album version (because ''No Ordinary Love'' was seven minutes in the album version compared to the four minutes single version then it's used in radio and the music video). The live of ''Cherish the Day'' was in 2001 while she promote the ''Lovers rock'' album in tour, her return album after a five years hiatus to concetrates her energy to raise her son.
Are you new to Sade? First thing you need to know is that although her name is Sade, Sade is the name of the band. They are a band, they've been together since the early 80's, and they shun the celebrity aspect of the music business. They were part of the second British invasion of the early 80's that consisted of Duran Duran, Bananarama, Pet Shop Boys, and more. They are also known to disappear for a decade before coming out with new material again. Sade is one of the tightest bands in the business. Their music is unlike anyone else's. They are style and sophistication put to music. You will not come across any bad Sade music. It's all great quality work. Whether you react to it or not, get Sade into your life. Your soul deserves it. My favorite Sade song is "King of Sorrow". It's a beautiful video too.
One of my all time favorite Sade songs! It’s so beautiful and Sade’s vocals….amazing! Empress if you ever get the chance to watch the music video for this song, I think you’ll be impressed. It’s visually beautiful! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻
I love Sade! Silky smooth, atmospheric, sexy, passionate, chill out to mid tempo jam. You should check out her other hits: No Ordinary Love, The Sweetest Taboo, Kiss of Life, By Your Side, Paradise, etc 💕
''Cherish the Day'' was in the album ''Love Deluxe'', the same has the huge hit ''No Ordinary Love'' and was the last single of this album. This song wasn't a success at all in 1993. It's a very good song of her masterpiece album.
I love to see your reactions to the songs. Have a couple of suggestions for you: - Floor Jansen + Henk Poort Their version of The Phantom Of The Opera. It was seen in the Dutch tv- program: De Beste Zangers (2019) This will blow your mind away!!!! Her voice is so versatile ⬇️⬇️⬇️ - Nightwish Ghost Love Score (Oh by the way: Floor Jansen is the singer of this metalband) - Floor Jansen Her cover version of Alone
