4 years on and Spud is still sorely, sorely missed. I still occasionally go back and listen to those old rubs, for those that don't know they're all archived on The RUclips Rub. Absolute gold, that show was never the same when Garry and Spud left and this world has never quite been the same since Spud left us either. 😭
Sacking him was MMM's biggest mistake, especially given Garry had just left. The rub was never quite the same when they both left. What's sad about that, is everyone in the know has said that leaving MMM really crushed him. You can tell he loved it on here, probably more than Bounce even. I can see why they said he was perfect for media, he really was. I go back and listen to those old rubs occasionally on the RUclips Rub channel, absolute gold and I'm glad even moreso now that someone archived them. Spud is sorely, sorely missed.
Yeah I bingewatch the RUclips Rub channel every few months, I didnt realise he was sacked, I always thought he left on his own accord, I rarely listen to the current Saturday rub anymore
@@petertabe9365 the chemistry between those blokes is something sorely lacking in footy media, and probably media in general today. You could get away with way more back then and we were better for it. It's what makes me somewhat miss the footy show, though I know deep down that would never survive in this day and age. The corporate me too movement ruined that show and others like it, well that and 9 eventually being tight with their biggest stars didn't help (and moving Sam on for the George Floyd thing, though being honest he wasn't doing much anyway by that point). I'll never forget Sam making that farewell speech at the top of what turned out to be the last live show, looking back now it's even sadder because it really was the last goodbye after 25 bloody years. I doubt anything will ever match that and if it does, it will never be as good. But yes, I too never listen to the current Saturday rub. And I could be wrong, but the way I always heard it was that he was moved on. If that is the case, looking back now that was a ludicrous decision, especially given like I said Garry had left and looking back the show really was worse for it. And like I said it's sad because his wife and others have since said they think that was what started his decline, which doesn't entirely surprise me given as I said you can tell he loved doing this.

We need more of these classic rubs! They were so good. 😂
Spud, never forgotten and still loved, missed.
Fuck I wish Spud was still around, he was such good value on the rub

World was a much better place with Spud around! RIP 🥔
Great work Tripple M, gone but not forgotten.
Spud's laugh 😭 miss him
sorely missed is the great Spudregus
Anytime Spud got BT it was hilarious. The all-timer was the hair dye. Best part is that BT would dig the hole worse for himself everytime
RIP Spud
Who farted?
