There's always this thing that remains with me, (yes, it's "childish") that bigger means older, but Zevran is older than Alistair, by like, a whole adult phase, and this interaction shows that, I just didn't realise that when I first played it. Alistair is for certain a puppy. Also, love the style. Always happy to see games that weren't published like six months ago get some love. New doesn't automatically mean better.

To a degree even people, most people who aren't shitty get even better with time, and everyone cringes a little bit at their younger selves. Expense and newness =/= quality.
I don’t think morden phases of life apply to medieval fantasy and it's more of a cultural/character difference. Leliana for example, who also a spy/assassin and came from Orlais, seems pretty open about these things too despite being about the same age as Alistar, Warden, and Morrigan.

Which is universal, regardless of time or fictionality (literally the limit of how much experience a person can physically have, and how much they can possibly learn from that), and from there deeply individual. Leliana, Zevran, Morrigan and also most versions of the Warden are forcibly matured by trauma/abuse/neglect, which makes the contrast of Alistair somehow not being that all the more noticeable. I'm not making an assumption about there being a correlation between maturity and ability to speak of intimacy, even if there is that. Alistair is behaving very childishly. Also the comment was more about the misplaced, childish size=maturity thought, which I think also is furthered by Zevran being a squishy rogue, who complains, and Alistair being a frontliner/tank.

So happy to see new people coming to origins. It will forever be my favourite dragon age (and bow thanks to BG3) my second favourite game ever. It has ruined all other dragon age games for me 😅 finally finished 2 10 years later and making my way through inquisition and all I can think about is my Warden, and how worried Alistair apparently is and being sad about it. If you're on pc there is a mod called rune of banter, if you want to get through the ones with companions you don't travel with as often.

The last few months I guess, I got the brainworms of dragon age and started up inquisition, and was able to buy the first two while they were on big sale! I'm playing through inquisition again, but this time I have the one w/ the dlc! And it's made it better replaying dai, with more knowledge or experience of the other games! But even though I've had less time with origins, I'm so connected with it 🥺 I also really want to play bg3 but I only have a laptop that's not awful but I don't know how likely it'll play the game well 😅 but from what I've heard, I think I'd really enjoy the game! And I can't wait to see when I can play and how I'll end up playing it!

But they added all these story relevances that tie in to inquisition and then just leave you hanging. But bring in characters we could have done without. Especially frustrating if you married king Alistair, Fereldan and Orlais nearly at war again, unrest etc. And if you were playing a good warden you bet your ass they'd be trying to sort things out as well as figure cures out. And smacking the orlesian wardens upside the head for their stupidity

I _loved_ Zevran when I was playing DAO for the first time and was wholly intent on romancing him. Until I later realised he sounded like Juandissimo from Fairly Odd Parents. And I couldn't go through with it...I kept imagining Zevran whisper "mucho mucho sexy" at the end of the romance 😭

@@theswisswereright on my first playthrough, my warden dated alistair, but after a while, suddenly wyne shows up and asked my warden (rogue city elf) if she is serious about alistair or just playing, because wyne is concerned that if my character is just playing around, alistair would be too innocent to understand that kind of relationship (did she say that because the warden was a rogue?)... after that i have my warden ended her relationship with alistair and dated zefran

Not really? They have some superficial similarities, but their approach to life is so different. Zev is way more upbeat, despite also having a bleak life. His attitude is pretty much 'life is short and awful, so enjoy it while you can' whereas Astarion is like 'I deserve to be evil and vengeful because I suffered!!!'. I mean I actually do enjoy Astarion's bitchiness and emo-ness, but those things are kind of the exact opposite of Zevran.
@@foxfire9320 I think you hit it on the head, yeah. :) To his credit, Astarion does lighten up a lot once he really starts to trust you (or if you romance him), but yes, Zevran comes across as snarky while (early) Astarion is much more mean-spirited.
