- The Simpsons has been renewed for season 35 and 36, BUT, even though it seems increasingly unlikely, the show is certainly closer to an end point than it has ever truly been before. So, when the series does end, how will it do so? Let's dicuss the only way The Simpsons can end.

The Simpsons Movie 2 should be the series finale. That would be the perfect way to end The Simpsons than 30 minute episode.

I think this can still complete the Ouroboros. Say, have Marge buying stuff FOR the pageant, make her worries about that. Lisa is playing sax for a part of the pageant, does her sudden freeform, go through the motions with it all setting up for the pageant. Boom. Ending as intended.

What I'd like to see in the "turning the intro into an episode" episode is what happens to Homer after he breaks through the door of his garage. From where does he fall out into the house? Does he get a headache? Does Marge ever say "I'm sorry"?

I don't think the simpsons needs to finish finish, if they just stop making the annual seasons and focused on longer form maybe 40 minute episodes to release 1 or 2 specials each year
I started watching in April of 1987. For me, The Simpsons died the day Disney purchased FOX. I have no interest in Disney Simpsons. All those episodes that have been made since then? Those are "corpse puppets." Kinda like old president Joe.
The Simpsons is by far my favorite show of all time only one show fights it for that title and it’s Matt Groenings show Futurama but that’s beside the point.
I have seen every single episode of The Simpsons and it was really difficult for me to round out my opinion of the show due to the drastic change in quality between S1-8 and S17-30
I’ve finally decided that the show continues to be my comfort show, I also think that the most recent 4 seasons have been pretty decent to pretty good. I however have to concede that while I don’t believe this show ever got horrible as some think it ain’t what it used to be.
Despite that however if the show hadn’t run this long we wouldn’t have gotten The Book Job, Barthood, Pixelated And Afraid and so much more, I’m happy and content with the run of the show and nothing it does could ruin the magic of those original seasons.
I think they should finish up a couple more years and try to pull of a good ending and the show will go down in history as one of the greatest

I disagree with how you would like it to end. The Simpsons doesn't have to end in any high mean full climax they already covered what it would end like with the future episode they did that in case they get cut off the air and to be able to continue making episodes.
Idk I think the ending matters to people, no matter what it is.

It'll end once one of the voices of the Simpson family dies or has to retire. They might try a recast but that'll be the end.
As long as Dan Castellaneta is alive and capable, I think they can recast everybody else at this point.
I just realized that homer isn't doing his job in the intro like he's doing his nuclear technician job instead of his safety inspector
That's because he wasn't a safety inspector at first. He was a nuclear technician. This was a whole episode worth of story.

I was just trying to make fun of it. Personally, I don't think it is right for content creators to accept them, but I guess that is their call.

Do peple even watch the newer episodes? The newest i remember watching was the Lady Gaga episode; never again watched anything newer than season 12 or so.
Wasn't the Lady Gaga episode from season 21 or something? Anyway, I still watch it. The show is still pretty funny or entertaining most episodes. More consistent than Family Guy or South Park these days. Plus, they are doing some really interesting stuff now.

Sadly, it will more than likely be ending in the next 5 years. Most of the people that do the voices/drawing are getting really old and we will start seeing more and more of them passing away.

Sesame Street has been going on for 54 years. I can see ot going that long even if the main cast dies off.
Every time I tune in, I feel like I'm watching a finale episode. At some point in the show's history, every episode is a flashback or flash forward episode. The origin of this or the Simpsons but in the Seven Years Later format. If I didn't know it was still on, I would believe all of these episodes could be finales; they're all high concept and they all deconstruct Springfield in a new light.
On that note, the multiple short films about Springfield, the one that ends with Nelson being bullied by that giant would be the perfect finale.
The Simpsons has been around throughout my entire life time as well… the Simpsons will end eventually since Matt Groening is bound to not think of any more story ideas at some people. The pilot episode aired back in 1989.
