BYU fan here from the seventies....and the old Frank Kush - Lavell Edward's days... The bottom line is the ASU - BYU football battles are good for college football and glad to see this game back on prime time in the BIG 12^^ The difference in the game was Scattaboo.... I love Dilly, like fully and wholly, but his cockiness nearly cost us this game and a shot at a championship. Couple field goals and we win that thing handily. Leavitt looked off, way overthrowing a wide open Tyson for a TD. Just glad they were able to hang on. Of to T-town to mollywop those kitties!
No doubt Kenny is a great coach but the way he treated the refs during and after the 1 sec was added on the clock made me lose a lot of respect for him
@@ForgedDr3amsexactly , just extended the coordinators, but dilly can only make more money thru the end of the season and he knows that , big daddy crow will pony up eventually and pay the man tho . asu most definitely has the resources
Last 2 games Dillingham showed his age and lack of handling pressure and making the correct call. Not impressed. The committee will definitely take those last 2 min into account of how good or lack there of, they really are.
It's because he is immature. He's a hothead. Watch how he attacks game officials when things don't go the way he believes they should. He seems to get great effort from his players with his tactics. He is not a "class act." He doesn't give much credit to BYU. If success is so dependent on players getting paid for their talent, I don't think it's necessary to pay a coach like Dillingham a huge salary (which is what he is looking for - "I don't know how long I'll be here." I'm sick of coaches that draw so much attention to themselves (Deion, Dillingham.) As a Cougar fan, I'll take the loss and I'd much rather have a coach like Sitake that makes the game about the players (both teams), the fans, and the atmosphere of college football. Sitake... a class act. Dillingham... and immature bozo.
I may not like Dillingham. But, congrats to Dillingham, his staff, and especially his players. They came out and smacked BYU in the mouth. The Cougars could never recover from the first half beatdown. ASU is playing well. They will be tough to beat. Sorry ASU fans, I just can't stand your coach - he seems like an overzeolous fan that hasn't played football.
@@darthcaedus9130 You must be an irate ASU fan. Just think, if BYU sucks, ASU is within 3 yards of sucking worse than BYU. And based on ASU football history for the last several decades, you, as an ASU fan, are very familiar with what sucking looks like... so yeah, I agree... BYU sucked, and ASU sucked 3 yards less than BYU. But, your coach really sucks, you'll find out sooner than you would expect.
@mjulkunen way to sound stupid. I am not an asu fan. Asu won't be going far in the playoffs but you can't say they didn't turn their season around. Unlike byu, who is just a disappointment every year
Coach, do you think your strategy to cuss out the refs while they were reviewing to see how much time was left on the clock was a good look? Did it impact them not calling obvious intentional grounding? Unsportsmanlike conduct for rushing the field? Or delay of game?
Kenny Dillingham shows lack of leadership and character not admitting in this interview that he made poor decisions at the end of the game. He is clearly avoiding the topic because he doesn’t want to admit he was wrong. They will never win the CFP with decision making like that.
I think a person could make the argument that there was some understandable logic of holding on to the ball til 0:00…but the way they went about it was definitely poor. Being more creative with “keep away and chew clock” type plays vs just having the QB sprint straight back and take a 5 second 30 yard sack, and then next play just gun it into the air with 7 seconds left. Hopefully he learns from this because he seems like a coach that really cares about the program and his players…if he can put everything together it could be special
That last minute was very stupid for a coach not to take blame. That could have been devastating. Just score. You didnt believe your defense at end of game.
These guys are so pessimistic lol. A win is a win. If you think he coached himself out of an award for being in the position there in then sadly that’s a bad take. He’s a great coach man. It happens. You’re only a genius when it works out, and then you have a game where plays don’t work out and all of a sudden his body of work is gone lol. What a joke
@@ForgedDr3ams C'mon man. You can't possibly defend his decision making at the end of the game. Dillingham is a great coach (I never said otherwise) and I hope we give him a lucrative 10 year contract to stay here....but if BYU converts that hail Mary, then it would have gone down as one of the most boneheaded game management blunders by any head coach in college football history. We had a first and goal from the 4 and we gave them the ball back on downs at the 49. I don't chalk that up to "It happens". As a matter of fact, I've never seen that happen before until today. I hope Iowa State loses to Kansas State and BYU gets a rematch with ASU in the conference championship.
