So moving to hear that for the first time, 43 years after it was recorded. Deller and Bowman were the two counter-tenors who inspired me to develop my voice and apply for a choral scholarship as a counter-tenor. To hear one talking about the other here has been very special - and that last track of ‘Music for a while’… fantastic.
My greatest musical achievement was singing both parts of La ci darem la mano from Don Giovanni alternating between baritone and soprano, sadly there is no recording.
I much prefer the more masculine alto production used by Deller and Bowman. That's how my own voice was. If you sound like a mezzo, why shouldn't anyone hire a mezzo instead?

James Bowman is a worthy successor of Alfred Deller!
The Covent Garden premier of A Midsummer Nights Dream had the American countertenor Russell Oberlin.
