    Thank you very much for the valuable info. The points you made got more interesting for me as they got more and more relatable with the issues I had. I recently bought a vintage Onsa Watch that has eta2472 in it unawarably and it is lacking the lockig screws that you mention @6:00 and the movement thus the dial is dancing in the case when you pull out the crown; it is quite annoying.

    I love automatic and handwinding watches cant stand battery operated ones .got a couple of timex automatics and I always look on ebay and hit the u.s only location and hit the 10 to 30 dollar range,.you can have your rolex and omegas,i will take vintage timexs 1960s to 1970s models any day.got a couple of automatic seikos from amazon but they cant hold a candle to the vintage beauties of timex.

      @Tom Smith And cellphones have theoretically made watches obsolete. So, what's your point? People like mechanical watches. You aren't going to change someone's mind about mechanical watches just by pointing out that quartz is more accurate.

    • @elchoya8770
      @elchoya8770 5 лет назад

      yeah,i guess your right.

      Tom Smith Again, your point is valid, but you still aren't going to change people's minds about mechanical watches. Also, mechanical movements were good enough for ships to use for navigation up through the first half of the 20th century.

    Both of those Seamasters were beauties. I have a 1950s Consteallation with box, papers, etc which my grandma gave to my dad. I had it serviced, new band, and a new crystal. It is a generic, so, I think I should buy the real thing down the line.

    I have two 1950's Tudor watches. One started back up; the other is missing the stem. I need advice on cleaning and repair. I need parts. Thanks for any advice. Don't want to seem dumb either but can I not upload a picture of them here? Or just on my home page? Thanks!

    Hi, will you please explain what is wrong with the redial you show around 1:30? Maybe the detail is not clear enough in the video, but my untrained eye can't tell what is wrong with the dial. Thank you for this video and thank you for clarifying.

    Nice video with some great info. I bought a Titoni from India which presents in very good condition but there are a few tell tail signs you called out like the locking screw holes empty. Its an automatic and it runs super fast while the insides look nearly new I am not certain everything is correct. Was thinking of getting it looked at but now thinking I will possibly cut my losses and sell as a parts watch.

      +WATCH VIDS Hi it's a very valid question, this means that the automatic roter doesn't go all the way around, it goes to a certain point and it stops it's also known as a hammer movement, if you look up Omega 351 movement you can see what I mean. Thank you for your question I hope I gave somewhat of a clear answer.

    I see your point about the locking screws and will keep that in mind. Just a question, I have a minty but cheap Garon, and the movement moves around in the case, but couldn't that be due it being a low quality watch?

    Thanks for the great video! A quick question from a newbie: now I've seen many vintage watches without the locking screws, does it mean they are without their original movements or the screws are simply missing? Thanks!

    • @todorelojconfernando
      @todorelojconfernando  6 лет назад +1

      It can be both, I use it as a indicator that the watch has had bad watch maker working on it, or the movement was swapped and the screws didn't fit anymore so at that point I do more research to see if that watch came out with that caliber movement from the factory 😁

    By far one of the most applicable presentations I've seen on inspecting watches. I'm now reviewing my collection to see what mistakes I made and will be using your checklist going forward. I'm sure it will help me avoid pitfalls. Information like this increases my confidence in what I'm doing and therefore allows me to invest in higher priced items which to date I've not attempted. Do you have any tips on being able to screen gold quality and content?
