If you notice, the takeoff was done with the wind (not against it as usual) as there is slowly rising ground to the north (in the other direction in canberra). It was also a hot evening (35 degrees+) and canberra is at altitude so reduced lift. It was also fully laden. Imagine if you were the pilot sitting at the first entrance way waiting to take off in the other direction and that thing went past STILL on the ground.
Glad you pointed out the wind. Must have the seen the windsock? I was intently focused on the big beast lumbering down the runway. But, if you're right, even a 1 knot headwind component would have been a big help to the Vodka burner. And even a slight tailwind hurt his performance at a time when he clearly needed even inch of runway available!
HAHAHA I love this. Everything about it. The shit heavy Russian and the great ATC sense of humour. I bet there were wheel marks in the dirt over the edge of that tarmac..
Ash .S When you tell Russians to use a runway they use all of runway or at least as much as it takes to down the 4 shots of Vodka until they can pull up
And That's how we are, Aussies wish other nationalities a very good Crash after throughing mud at them specially done by Tower Duty Officers, Now This is an Is island with a huge Rock in middle and bunch of Convicts occupied indigenous land Coming to this land under Shackles and Chains and yet they still colony of Brits :( I may Say God Help all of us from such unprofessional on duty Melbourne Tower crowe, How people can trust such Idiots starting from supervisor the filming and commentating guy, These Idiots must be investigated. I have Faith that these Idiots are very much capable of causing unwanted incident, No discipline at all, Welcome to Down Under everybody :) :)
Zbigniew wilcz Pilot: "We are out of Vodka! I won't pull up until we have another bottle. Go in the back and get one." Co-pilot: "Here is bottle of Vodka!" Pilot: "Okay now we pull up."
Did he run out of runway? By Inches or feet, but did he lift off past the threshold? I can't tell on my phone screen. Or does it even make a difference? He certainly isn't at the required 35 feet at the end of the runway! Tak! Also, How long is that runway, anyone?
Sooner or later, I always come back here. This never gets old! 😆 Btw: Merry Christmas! 🎄⛄🎅🎀
Me too. Happy 2021...just one of those things that never gets old.
Haha same...
These controllers are hilarious. Thanks for the laughs
"And I'm running out of film, gee, I hope I've got enough to film the crash!" (2:08) Good unflappable Air Traffic Controllers there 🤣

also a deflector, then a fence then a road going the other way.
Windsock visible in the foreground at 1:21 seems to show a crosswind from their right with just a hint of tailwind component.
IF WE RUSSIANS PAY FOR THE RUNWAY WE USE THE WHOLE RUNWAY!!!
Definitely didn't copy from someone else.
Any takeoff you can fly away from is a good takeoff.
Puahahahhahahha......You are cleared for Smirnoff.....gets me everytime

Probobly was wheelmarks in the first officers panties as well
Nearly all the pilots are Afghan or Chechen vets so have a tendency to fly like they still being shot at.
Russian Pilots: We paid whole runway we use whole runway.
Bruce and Sheila yucking it up in the tower.🤷♂️🤷🏾♀️
actually a skilled pilot for not panicking and trying to lift it too early
mammutit No skill just Vodka
@0:56, the vodka burner is rolling
Even, when doing jokes you are just so fucking correct, Ausis. That's why we love you :-*
this thing can use unpaved runways, i.e. the capn could have kept rolling if he wanted to...
Why didn't the pilot apply full power with brakes then release brakes?
"Unbe-LIEVE-able!"
Hope ive got enough film left for the crash ! creases me haha 😁😂
Hot air that evening
load master, next time more cargo, we had extra runway to use.
I'm calling that having faith

That's some of the best flip phone video I have ever seen
MFCVL approved.
The Vodka burner rolling, but not too fast, and got up last second, just near end tamax
Zbigniew wilcz Pilot: "We are out of Vodka! I won't pull up until we have another bottle. Go in the back and get one."
Co-pilot: "Here is bottle of Vodka!"
Pilot: "Okay now we pull up."
lol the vid is 2.25 and the biggest plane in the world is an-225
Would've given my left wing to be directly underneath flight path at any point in the first 5 minutes 🙃 🛫❤️
Pilot got his money worth, used all the rwy. Good stuff
I’m not a plane person, can someone explain to me what the big deal is here?
I think it looked way slower than a takeoff usually does, and it used all of the runway which they don't normally have to do?
I revisit this often for a laugh 😂😂

I can't tell on my phone screen.

Tak!

il-76 can use unpaved runways so assuming it was mostly flat grass he could have kept rolling
At YSCB, RWY 17/35 length is 3,283m / 10,771 ft. I believe this departure would be off RWY 17. Aerodrome elevation 575m/1,886 ft.
That smacks of some very unprofessional weight calculations. Inches from disaster. Nothing clever about this. Deserves a full enquiry.
That's not the right plane
some how this video is in my channel
EVERYBODY KNOW FAT BIRDS DON'T FLY
Rather unprofessional banter by the ATC crew.
They couldn't do anything anyway - one of them probably already had a phone in his hand to call the rescue services in the event of a disaster.
Can the guy filming this tell me what Jesus Christ has to do with it. ?
