That’s what most people think. Everyone is fixated on draft picks but why would you spend a lot of money on 1st and second round picks when you can just pay for players who have already proven themselves? Rams stack up a lot of later round picks so if they do end up snagging some hidden gems they won’t have to pay them that much :)

nfc playoffs are top heavy, Cards QB is out for a couple weeks, Saints QB is toast, Panthers QB sucks and Dallas QB is still hurt. Rams and Tampa plus a GB and that is about it.

The point about not having space for draft picks is extremely short sighted. They are acting like players don't leave in the off season, or get hurt?
BUT, if you can trade them to get star, impact players to put you over the top, then it's probably not a bad idea in that situation specifically.
Thats the thing tho, Rams make these type of trades and most likely let Von walk next year and get a compensatory pick out of it. Thats the circle of life here with the Rams and its even sweeter when the FO hits on these late round picks

a draft pick is a gamble, von miller is a guarantee. why teams trade proven star players for draft picks that are 50/50s is mindblowing to me, "oh but longevity von miller will retire soon" who cares there's a solid chance your draft pick busts and retires too
Completely all in move by the Rams. In 2 or 3 years their roster will fall apart because they have no cheap good players on it.

being a rams fan i feel colin is off here. there are plenty of spots a guy can play on the rams. their roster is top heavy and if they should lose one of their top players to injury they might be done. last year's playoffs donald was hurt and though he played a little against green bay he was not effective. needless to say the pack's o line dominated the rams front 7.
it is not like they are stacked at every position. far from it. on d they have donald and ramsey who are irreplaceable and the rest are easily replaced. their lb core is below average imo same goes for offense where they have a couple that stand out which makes the rest look better.
they are sacrificing their future to win now. if it gets them a lombardi then i guess it will be worth it. miller however has not been the same player for a few years and denver knew it. rams are desperate to win it all because if they don't then the stafford trade will backfire on them.
