Of all the "how to" kerosene heater wick replacement videos I've watched, this is best instructional video yet! Simple, easy to understand, good quality and even entertaining. KUDOS!
Fought with my heater for almost an hour and almost divorced my husband .. but this video saved us 😅 turns out the rising component in my heater is stuck closed. I manually raised the wick and put back together as shown. Now we won’t freeze to death tonight! Much appreciated!
excellent video! Found this after 3 atttempts using the manual and instructions that came with the wick - I was unsuccessful. Now, with one of the tips I learned from this makes me confident I will easily replace the wick properly tomorrow. Thanks!
This is the best video on wick changing Taryl. The Christmas party is the best. Taryl, your little fella took good aim at the lawn mower thief. His shoes must be really clean with PEE !!! Keep up with the great work and have yourself a Happy Thanksgiving lawn mower detective too. vf
Really helped me on turning the knob. I thought it turned only a couple of click and my wick was too small, but seeing you turning more than once was a big help. Now my burner works. Thanks
Great videos in all of 2016. Thanks gang for making us all laugh and thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year gang.
Whoever they paid to write the instructions that come with those wicks should be strung up. I used to have 2 kerosene heaters that I used to avoid paying high heating bills, but when they both needed wicks I tried to replace them myself and just got frustrated. After 3 tries I just gave them away. Nobody around here had any experience or wanted to fool with them. You make it look pretty straightforward.
super help you have rescued me and it was the simplest to do I had been dreading it for a week and ran the oven until Igot the nerve to tackle the job. This graany's hat is off to you :)
That was a great video, can't wait for the part 2 to see what happens to those poor impounded lawn mowers. Lol , ho yea great video on the wick replacement. Lots of people still use these to heat their houses and garages. Great job. Keep them coming.
I was struggling watching so many videos nothing showed to keep the wick all the way up. Spent forever trying to figure it out on my own thank you. It's 7 degrees tomorrow so this saved me
So glad our paths crossed. Been great following along. I sleep good at night knowing that you and your force are after the lawnmower abusers every where. Merry Christmas to the Grass Rats Garage. Till next time, There's your Dinner. doug
We followed you step for step and we put it on and before we tightened it down with the wing nuts we tested it and the wick won't pop down when you press the button or pendulum What am I doing wrong?
got a question for you, my wick adjuster knob, it doesn't mater how much i turned it, the wick does not come up. it stays right where it was inserted. I made sure the wick was put in right with those 3 pins inside the holes but still it does not come up. Any help on how to get it to come up?
hello taryl I just bought a stihl fs 90r. it is the kind with the valves. can you please make a video in the future about stihl weed eater valve adjustments. thanks
wing nuts are good the three bolts that hold the rear bag side discharge chute I lost one so I found some wing nuts the same size thread replaced them with wing nuts works great don't have to get a socket or wrench out to change out chutes!
I did everything you said but I can't get it to work. The wick won't rise! I've redone it 3 times & nothing! I'm bummed! All the pins are in place but the wick won't rise! What am I doing wrong?
Taryl, could you put a cylindrical stainless steel mesh screen inside the kerosene heater to make a catalytic converter to turn the flame blue in color instead of the yellow color ??? Thanks for the help Taryl, the lawn mower detective.
Hello there!! Thank you for this video. I have this same model. Kept in reserve for power outages. I've only used it once in 10 years. I have a question. At the 5 minute 15 second mark you "lift off this whole assembly..," Have you ever had a problem where the assembly WILL NOT LIFT OUT? Nor will the wick height adjuster move the wick up from the OFF/STORED position. I can't get mine apart or get the wick to raise for operation.., Thanks.
I had a similar problem. Water got into my kerosene heater's tank after a long period of not using it, and the wick expanded a lot. With a lot of wiggling and and pulling, we got that assembly out. But also, the wick cover (aka bonnet, part# 08-9622 for my DuraHeat 2304) somehow got a little out of shape, just a little not-quite-round now, and it seems like that's preventing the wick adjuster and safety release from working when it's re-assembled and fitted over the draft tube (they work fine before I put it over the draft tube). I'm going to order a new wick cover.
When I'm putting back together the wick and I'm testing the knobs and make sure that it extinguishes properly it extinguishes it but it doesn't make that ting sound but it still extinguish though. Its been a while since I replace a wick but recently my flame goes down without me adjusting. Oh and btw "Your a wingnut"
I found a hard to find toyostove double clean kerosene heater. It's in excellent shape but it's missing that skinny metal ring that clips on to the wick, how important is this at what is it for? Please help me brother
Tip: well before winter arrive3s, hire a local guy who can do this stuff for you and pay him cash! All you need is for it to be done correctly; if he can show you just what to do.... fine. But giving a fellow $20-30 to learn how to do this is well-spent!
the cheap alternative to Kerosene is diesel. You do have to mix a little bit of Kerosene with the diesel. Bit you mix it in the heater itself. You may need to dry burn the wick more often. But burning Diesel/Kerosene mix is a lot cheaper then Kerosene itself. More Kerosene the cleaner the burn.
Never seen any kerosene down here that didn’t have dye in it with the exception of the little overpriced metal cans of it at the big box store. All the pumps at quick stops are dyed. Even that is getting hard to find anymore. I guess people think that ice storms that kill the electricity are over.
My dad would be on trial for treason lol . 8 riding mowers none can mow and none are interchangeable with the others without extensive modifications. Scrapped them all but 3 used the money to fix 1 then blew the motor test running now they are just rusting away given up on.
I've got 3 coleman lanterns... Screw all that burn the mantles until they're cinder and then light the motherless daughter up. Getta LED lanturd using rechargable batteries
lol funny im not a fan of defunding the police either thats all bull shi# i dont like the protesters either i never would have let them make an autonumous zone or pull down statues leave american history alone george floyd is dad and theres nothing we can do bout it
Taryl you’re a wonderful human being. I fought with this wick for 30 mins before I looked it up. The wick needs to be up just like you said. Amazing!
