    i literally just finished booking my accommodations for the Knoxville Nationals on Saturday morning and was so pumped up about it. I Was hoping to get some Photos of Jason's car and maybe an autograph. I just loved the name Ragin' Cajun i thought it was one of the greatest nicknames around. Couldn't believe reading the Sheldon Haudenschild tweet the next morning on my phone hearing he had been badly injured. This took the wind out of my sale. Was a very sad Sunday to say the least. I can't imagine how anyone at the track that night or any of the fellow drivers/family members were able to even function after hearing the news. I just hope they can all pull through. I'm really going to miss hearing the WOO announcer saying the Ragin' Cajun when i follow up on the highlights from each week.

      Wait... so making him suddenly disappear is the right thing to do? Wasn't he a REAL man? Is his wreck a dirty little secret? If we just ignore it maybe it never happened? Are you happy in your safe space? Yes it is terrible and sad but it HAPPENED. Woo and this video are doing Jason a DISSERVICE by making him conveniently disappear. I'm not saying hey let us see this fatal crash. No I am saying they can show him hopping the wheel or whatever happened, cut away and then RESPECTFULLY ANNOUNCE, as is Woo's DUTY, and the RESPECTFUL thing to do; regretfully we have lost Jason. Making him vanish as if he was never there is incredibly tactless and disrespectful to Jason! If only he would've had the decency not to get killed Woo wouldn't have to deal with it. Never happened folks. Please keep buying our tickets! RIP Jason Johnson. You might remember him: he was the guy killed in our race series.

    I have followed Jason for many years in the ASCS division. He raced and won many many times here in Texas at Baytown, Beaumont, Willis, Cleveland, Highlands, Fort Worth and many more. I will never forget at Cleveland several years ago he was on the pole and the announcer told the crowd if they would donate a $1000 Jason Johnson would start in the back of the field. If he won, he would get the $1000 but if he lost it would go to a charity of the track's choice. He was that good. He won that night but starting on the pole, not the rear. He was good. Really good. I was so happy to see him move up because I knew he would do well with the WoO and he did. I just can't believe he's gone. Something has to be done about owners who do not do everything they can to make the track safe for these monster cars. Catch fences would be a no brainer as far as I'm concerned and I hope the drivers take a stand for this improvement at any track. My prayers go out to the family and friends during this terrible time of grief.

    • @NathanM4A1
      @NathanM4A1 6 лет назад +1

      Mister Paradise Agree with everything you say. From the initial video one would speculate that the cage impact with the concrete wall at that speed is what caused the injuries. However until we are told more, specifically what injuries, we don't know. While cage damage is the likely answer, something like a piercing injury to the chest from a piece of the broken billboard could have injured him. I'm not American so I've never seen him race, but have heard his nickname before. And after seeing his driving in the first half of this video, I can say the world lost a great Sprintcar racer today.

      bhawk921 Intelligent people can watch a crash and objectively learn something from it. In my training I have seen thousands of fatalities on film in order to have a realistic idea of the dangers and causes of the injuries I treat. I've been a paramedic for 32 years working at many races and on my daily job near a metro area. Sadly, I see an average of 15 fatalities in a month because people don't asess the risks involved in what they are doing. In this case, when someone is doing something dangerous like racing in front of the public, they accept that people may see their last moments on Earth. I'm certain that Jason had watched many fatal crashes on tv and understood this. Race car drivers have to be comfortable with that. It isn't disrespectful to the family to watch something like this. The family knew it could happen too. It is decietful for an organization to censor the facts of what happened in order to cover up what happened under their watch, like having their racers drive on a track with exposed wooden beams holding up billboards right next to a wall that is incapable of containing an errant sprint car. I'm not saying that's what happened, but imagine a driver getting harpooned by such a thing. It is a distinct possibility that WOO didn't consider this posibility or do anything about it. This is their show. This is what happened in reality, and it is their choice to hide what happened from the same paying public that pays them to put on a show, good or bad. Just showing the good things that happen is no way to learn how to prevent the same thing from happening in the future. Good or bad, the public deserves to see the reality of how brutal and unfortunate the sport of auto racing can be. Lastly, did you really search out this video just to see the good highlights? As a loyal WOO fan, didn't you see the race last night, live? I believe you watched the video to see the same thing everyone else wanted to see. There's no shame or disrespect in that.

      People cried when The King used to win every night too. It just means he's that much better than everyone else. Someone has to be the best. Deal with it.

      right now is not the time to hate on Donny Schatz. If his winning "night after night" is tiring for you, I suggest you quit watching. Easy fix.
