Had he done that and simply won, we probably wouldn't have the FGC or Esports as a whole as we know it now. This moment was responsible for reinvigorating the FGC and adding a new sense of hype to the scene.

Every miss hit will be affecting the grade too. I try it on mame, using the cheat (dry out the 2nd player health and activate the auto parry), 1st player will parry everything and with just two punch ended the match. Got SS+
This can never be topped. No noise cancelling headphones, crowd right next to you. At the time 99% of people didn't think Chun Li's super was even possible to parry, which is why Justin didn't throw a fireball. Not only parried but combo'ed into a a win. Evo has many great moments but this is The Moment. Even people who know nothing about games or SF3 know something special happened even if they don't understand what that is.
Seeing the full 3 rounds makes it so much better. You get the entirety of Daigo's rage building up. You saw none of the actual rage building in the original video. Thank you so much for sharing!

Fighting games in this time period was in a drought. The only people that were into the fighting scene were the veterans from the 90's, there wasn't much in the way of newcomers. It was a nice little time period though because those that were into the genre back then got into it for its technically not for simplicity like games such as SFIV offered. In a way, it felt real.
I still get hype everytime I watch this. Greatest moment in any fighting game ever hands down. The crowd, how the game went that day, just everything was perfect. Two gods fighting for our mortal entertainment. All I can say is thank you

Going in for that final super from across the screen to chip him out was the correct play, parrying that monster of a super with a jump in the middle is not something anyone should have seen coming. And yet, now, it's all anyone will ever see coming again XD Truly, iconic. THRILLED to see this much better angle and quality.

Why does this clip make you think he was angry? I think it would be more conducive to be calm and composed to perform like this. I’ve always thought of Tokido as more of an aggressive player compared to Daigo who I always thought embodied Ryu’s level headedness. I’m sure Daigo has talked about this moment many times. I haven’t heard or read anything about it so perhaps he was angry, I don’t know.

SF3 has a weird grade system. Ive gotten MSF ranks before for playing normally yet perfecting people.
