honestly the thing that really makes this movie stand out is the nostalgic feeling. We all will, is, or has experienced high school. And for me who has a similar experience of school like this one, I honestly cried my eyes out hahaha
this movie will always have a special place in my heart, the storyline, the song, everything about it is just so perfect and nostalgic, made me cry every single time i watched it.
The best scene i like most is at the last part where the actor walks toward the actress and said: "long time no see". And the actress then cried and replied: "long time no see" The kind of feeling is so touching. ♥

the plot is basically that of a typical shoujo manga with basic themes and plots meshed into one does that mean it's bad or boring? HELL NO! this movie is an outstanding example that a classic romance plot still can be great and evoke all of your emotions

I just found out about this movie yesterday!!!!! I`m so in love with it. I rated it 10/10 it did reminded a bit about thai movie called " A crazy little thing called love" . But I would watched this movie 100 times more.

I've watched many romcom films from various countries but so far I think this is the BEST. This film will always has a special place in my heart. The songs are also so damn gooddd and really makes me missing my high school moments.
Actually there are some scenes that they cut. like the guy's side when they are adults. A staff asked him why did he come back when his life in US is already perfect? The guy answered it's because he made a promise to his first love, that he will make her idol sing in front of her. And the staff asked, what if the girl is not in Taipei and she cannot watch the concert? He said that it's okay, as long as I keep my promise to her.
This one along with “You Are The Apple Of My Eye” are always gonna be my 2 favorite movies cuz they both feature changes in personality and how life will never end up how you dream it to be, no making out which is basically every movie now a days
As a person who didn't realize my feelings when he was beside me, the lyrics of the song really represent my feelings. In this film, they reconciled after twenty years. It took so long but at least they got happy ending .But I guess it only happens in movie,not in real life! It's been five years and I still haven't heard anything from him. Anyway, I also wanna say thank u to him for being my bittersweet memory in my high school years. I'm sure he'll always be there,somewhere in my memory and in my heart even after many decades.

Wow, i don't understand Chinese but this song made me cry and i don't know why, i relate a lot of my years in Highschool, girls wanted to hang out with me but that was a sign of weakness when i would be with the tough guys so I ignored them very bad, back then i was in the bully side, trouble kid and punched in the face whoever abused a girl. Saddest thing is, im older now and sadder now ive gone through so much this movie doesn't make me cry anymore. life has mademe harden my heart and somewhat sobered me up. but I miss when things were innocent, simple, light. This movie gives me more of a hollow grief feeling. but I cant bring my self to cry anymore. Like no more tears left. Not sure if anyone feels this way. To be honest this song is SO much better once you have watched the movie. I was skeptical about this movie being a good watch but damn was I WRONG. I'm a guy and I found this movie to one of the best I've ever seen. Also, ladies out there, some guys (NOT ALL) can act tough and all this but realize they don't like to show their soft side for many reasons. :) Take my advice though if they abuse you for any reason and you aren't even married just find someone else. Don't waste time on scumbags like them there are better guys out there.

This was my first chinese movie I watch and I love it so much. Besides the fact that the movie was clean made my 15 year old self loves it even more. Every time I listen to this song always made me tear up for some reason. This movie is very precious to me as it introduces me to more of other cdramas later on.
Great film. 9/10 -Strong points: The song was on point (though I'm not fluent in Mandarin), it matches the scenes well. The character development and backstory was fantastic! I like the guy's point of view in the flashbacks, we get to see his reactions in the important scenes. This movie screams nostalgia. It represents youth, friendship, and love, whilst focusing on the main leads. It represents its genre very well. -Cons: The plotholes in between the raining scene. I know that those scenes were left for the viewers to ponder about, but that for me made the ending "okay". This may only be me, but I think the years "after" were too long. -What makes this movie different from the other films in its genre? I've seen a lot of films. From 27 Dresses to Pulp Fiction, Star Wars to Miracle in Cell Number 7, from Manchester by the Sea, to The Edge of Seventeen, and Our Times- shouldn't I prefer Oscar winning films? Those movies are undeniably great; but, movies like this are the type of films that makes you want to see it again. As predictable as the story goes, the cinematography, the cast, the songs, it all makes perfect sense. Everything was in its place. All in all: The film is a must watch! If you like "A Crazy Litte Thing Called Love", 90's settings, Highschool stories, and if you're Asian, this film will definitely speak to you. Especially, if you have an unrequited love.
I'm a 32 y/o man and since the first time I watched this movie I cried, thank God I watched it with my wife and since that day everytime I watch this video or listen to this song, tears of joy come down my face. I just love this movie.
So, I personally really liked the movie. However, I felt like the ending would've been better if it just ended with her getting her life together and not having them meet up. Now I may sound like a sourpuss who hates happy endings, but I just feel as if the point of the movie would've been driven home more if he was just part of her youth. Throughout the whole movie, she recounts all of the life lessons and experiences she had with him. She ends by recounting his final goodbyes. By doing this, the movie does a great job of conveying the bittersweet sting of young love. After she gets her life together, she should live as he taught her to live, in a way keeping him with her forever. By putting them back together, it ruins the whole aspect of young love, the inevitable separation and the growth that follows afterwards. If the ending was more ambiguous, it would've shown that sometimes life isn't perfect, but the experiences (highs and lows) will always stay with you.
but then you'll always wonder, whatever happened to that guy? i think it would have been better if they added extra scenes wd the two meeting again. or zoomed in their faces and reaction more. i personally think that jerry yan's entrance wasnt strong enough for the character.. idk i blame the camera for not focusing but like it lacked a certain emotion that you are looking for from someone who hasnt seen the person he loves for so long and actually finally meeting again, it just lacked a tiny bit of something. but ofc it was still a major throwback considering it was the Jerry Yan.

Maybe one with them reconnecting, but the ending was a little *too* perfect with him still remembering his promises and going out of his way to do stuff for her, even though they hadn't seen each other for decades. Also agreeing with ninja kewl about how Apple of my Eye's ending is way better in this respect.

時間真的是轉瞬及逝，還記得國小畢業的時候學校還是改編這首當我們的畢業歌，一轉眼已經大學了，國小的時候單純的喜歡旋律，國中愛上的那個女孩雖然成功了結局卻極為悲慘那時候是聽歌裡的悲傷，到了高中遇到了她一路相伴三年到現在先在則是聽歌裡的珍惜，感謝這首歌陪伴著我成長也感謝這首歌讓我體會到更多的事情，希望多年後回來這邊我能為自己留言上一個與她步入禮堂的喜訊吧

As a person who didn't realize my feelings when he was beside me, the lyrics of the song really represent my feelings. In this film, they reconciled after twenty years. It took so long but at least they got happy ending .But I guess it only happens in movie,not in real life! It's been five years and I still haven't heard anything from him. To be honest this song is SO much better once you have watched the movie. I was skeptical about this movie being a good watch but damn was I WRONG. I'm a guy and I found this movie to one of the best I've ever seen. Also, ladies out there, some guys (NOT ALL) can act tough and all this but realize they don't like to show their soft side for many reasons. :) Take my advice though if they abuse you for any reason and you aren't even married just find someone else. Don't waste time on scumbags like them there are better guys out there.

I stumbled on this movie after watching "You Are The Apple of my Eye" and I thought this was not going to top that. Whew was I wrong. I am so addicted to this song now.

This is the first love story that made me cried so much! This movie is TRULY beautiful!
This was my first chinese movie I watch and I love it so much. Besides the fact that the movie was clean made my 15 year old self loves it even more. Every time I listen to this song always made me tear up for some reason. This movie is very precious to me as it introduces me to more of other cdramas later on.

-Strong points:
The song was on point (though I'm not fluent in Mandarin), it matches the scenes well. The character development and backstory was fantastic! I like the guy's point of view in the flashbacks, we get to see his reactions in the important scenes. This movie screams nostalgia. It represents youth, friendship, and love, whilst focusing on the main leads. It represents its genre very well.
-Cons:
The plotholes in between the raining scene. I know that those scenes were left for the viewers to ponder about, but that for me made the ending "okay". This may only be me, but I think the years "after" were too long.
-What makes this movie different from the other films in its genre?
I've seen a lot of films. From 27 Dresses to Pulp Fiction, Star Wars to Miracle in Cell Number 7, from Manchester by the Sea, to The Edge of Seventeen, and Our Times- shouldn't I prefer Oscar winning films? Those movies are undeniably great; but, movies like this are the type of films that makes you want to see it again. As predictable as the story goes, the cinematography, the cast, the songs, it all makes perfect sense. Everything was in its place.
All in all:
The film is a must watch! If you like "A Crazy Litte Thing Called Love", 90's settings, Highschool stories, and if you're Asian, this film will definitely speak to you. Especially, if you have an unrequited love.

I'm a 32 y/o man and since the first time I watched this movie I cried, thank God I watched it with my wife and since that day everytime I watch this video or listen to this song, tears of joy come down my face. I just love this movie.

So, I personally really liked the movie. However, I felt like the ending would've been better if it just ended with her getting her life together and not having them meet up. Now I may sound like a sourpuss who hates happy endings, but I just feel as if the point of the movie would've been driven home more if he was just part of her youth. Throughout the whole movie, she recounts all of the life lessons and experiences she had with him. She ends by recounting his final goodbyes. By doing this, the movie does a great job of conveying the bittersweet sting of young love. After she gets her life together, she should live as he taught her to live, in a way keeping him with her forever. By putting them back together, it ruins the whole aspect of young love, the inevitable separation and the growth that follows afterwards. If the ending was more ambiguous, it would've shown that sometimes life isn't perfect, but the experiences (highs and lows) will always stay with you.
I just finished the movie and I completely agree with you. The movie was great... Them meeting again kind defeated the moral of the movie :/
but then you'll always wonder, whatever happened to that guy? i think it would have been better if they added extra scenes wd the two meeting again. or zoomed in their faces and reaction more. i personally think that jerry yan's entrance wasnt strong enough for the character.. idk i blame the camera for not focusing but like it lacked a certain emotion that you are looking for from someone who hasnt seen the person he loves for so long and actually finally meeting again, it just lacked a tiny bit of something. but ofc it was still a major throwback considering it was the Jerry Yan.

Agreed! Maybe one with them reconnecting, but the ending was a little *too* perfect with him still remembering his promises and going out of his way to do stuff for her, even though they hadn't seen each other for decades. Also agreeing with ninja kewl about how Apple of my Eye's ending is way better in this respect.

I’ve been a long time fan of S.H.E so I first heard this song before knowing that it was for a movie. At first I thought, “Aww what a cute song” bec Hebe was singing about how she only knew what love is after meeting him and that meeting him was the best thing in her life. But then there was a line, “Yet I have lost the right to cry for you”. I was crestfallen!!!! How could such a lovey song contain 1 devastating line which threatens the whole lovey-dovey feel of the song 😭

Ahhh I beg you to watch this movie 😆, I had watched it 5 times and never get bored of it. If you love a story about first love, then I really recommend it for you.
