As a teacher who is not at all talented at decorating, I really appreciate your disclaimer that you don't need a perfectly crafted classroom to be a successful teacher.
With that being said, the 2 trash cans in the classroom is ingenious!! I'm doing that this year.

I agree. This is my second year teaching and I was stressed about my room not being perfect. First day of school none of my kids mentioned any of that. They are way to busy looking cool and trying to impress others. Haha

This is my sixth year of teaching and the first year I have my own classroom. I’ve shared the other years. I’ve enjoyed decorating. I have a chill zone, SEL wall, focus areas, and I’m hanging up my 7th graders work on ribbons like flags. I’m thrilled.

Wow I thought I was the only one that went on a scavenger hunt for things that I need from other classrooms. Lol I did the same thing when I returned to my classroom and realized I had mismatched desks.

Just discovered your channel and I love everything you have to share. I am a second-year teacher, also teaching in Philly! I would be interested to learn more about how you stay organized as a teacher and how you manage your time. One of my very simple goals is to stay two weeks ahead on my lesson planning at all times.

Stand up desks. Genius! There are so many kids shifting in their seats or constantly getting up and walking about, simply because they feel like they need to move, stand up. This would be an amazing edition to every classroom. Only our school system is so rigid and allergic to change

#1 bonus of being the first person to set up is making those trades the new people don't even know they made!! 🤣

Thank you for making this video. It’s my 5th year teaching and I’m in a new school with new classroom decorating challenges. Everyone loves my classroom and I have taken lots of ideas from your decor design. Thanks a bunch man.

I have had seating choice for about 8 years. It was one of the things I missed during COVID protocols. As a teacher of younger students, I have some things I do physically to the room. Like you, the room is the “second teacher.” This includes showcasing beautiful books we will focus on for more than one learning experience. However, I started a journey of letting the students create decor of the room. Each year, they teach me about who they are through this. Example: Bulletin board borders? Sentence strip for each student with this direction on the first day - using images or icons only, show me things that are important I know about you (names are on the back for anonymity). If I have more than I need, I frame even my blackboard. Keep the rest of the wall decor understated (all paper and pocket charts are black). Each year, I find more meaningful decor items that I want them to participate in.

Your shelf lights are making me super jealous. I teach high school literature, and to me my shelves are super important. I understand I have to compete with a flashy and attention grabbing world. That's why I've decided to make my shelves and books interesting. I will installing some lights as soon as I get the cash. Thanks for the video.

I’ll suggest making friends with your custodial staff and secretaries. If you’re nice to them, they will usually be very helpful. I also invested in a “magnacart.” It’s like a mini-hand truck that folds up so I can tuck it between the wall and the desk in my office- it saves my back when moving boxes of heavy stuff such as books or paper.

Those stand-up desks look like the perfect size for what I want to make. Can you share the dimensions that you used? I definitely have some students that can't sit still, who would benefit from from this alternative.

i read a thread on twitter about having size inclusive seating- that could be a table with chairs instead of the desks with chair attached for students who may be unable to fit in a desk like that. I love the stand up desks so much.
