If you're curious as to how that happened - 18 year old me was on the side of the road with a blown clutch and gearbox (snapped input shaft.. no connection through any gear at all) and I had previously swapped the engine with one from a similar but slightly different model, which had different alternator wiring. This change in wiring meant the engine didn't turn off with the key, so for the month prior I was purposely stalling it in gear with the brakes on every time I parked. I noticed a couple of things wrong with this video. During an oil change, when the oil is being added you want to fill it slightly past the full line if you don't know the capacity specification. Then start the engine and allow the filter to fill up, THEN take your measurements. During spark plug replacement, you need to know your gap specification and gap them accordingly. Antiseize needs to be added to the spark plug threads to prevent them getting stuck, and a dab of dielectric grease needs to be added to the tips of the coil packs to waterproof the connection and prevent corrosion.
When you're removing spark plugs, the easiest way about it is to loosen them up with a socket and them grab them with the coilpack or sparkplug lead and chuck it out. Much easier than any other method really, unless you have a socket with magnetic insert.
Why would you need to disconnect the battery for a change of spark plugs? I have done a few and never heard that before if the ignition is off surely there is no danger.

Shadow the Hedgehog spark plugs are usually pre-gapped. And I definitely wouldn’t advise using copper grease on spark plugs.

Hey on modern cars that's an achievement! I've changed headgaskets on classics but I can't fucking figure out how to open the damn air filter box on a 2003 Skoda Fabia.
@@GlamStacheessnostalgialounge Honestly some modern cars have some stupid designs that make easy jobs way harder but that little wagon that Ethan has looks like a right treat to work on
@@jordanlazarus7345 Well, might seem easy until you realize that Honda has TWO sets of spark plugs, the other set is on the other side....right next to the firewall...under a bunch of stuff...yeah, not a treat.
@@GlamStacheessnostalgialounge That's still light work compared to some of these modern cars
I don’t normally comment on videos but this was BRILLIANT it’s great that even with the current state of the world you’re still managing to produce quality videos! You put Top Gear to shame!
I physically twitched when he dropped the allen key. I envisioned it going right into the jug.
Pro tip: screw the files, screwdrivers, etc. Just use a magnet.
Marigold with magnet, not in this case.
but good idea
Magnetic wand has saved the day many times!
a strong magnet on a stick is honestly a must have when buying tools, however most people don't drop hex keys into spark plug holes
I’m a huge car guy but I never do any work like this so I relate to this situation massively. Well done Ethan you deserve a pat on the back.
Hands down funniest video ever! I haven’t laughed this hard since I was a little girl. Love you Ethan 😂
I did an oil and filter change on my W203 2006 C220 Mercedesa couple of days ago using a vacuum pump. This will be the fourth time I've done this and no problems. Such an easy job 😊
Next video : timing belt replacement 😅
Let's hope so...
Damn, that thing took me about 3 days on my Mark 4 Golf 1.4 petrol and that was the first thing I ever did on any car. I'm never touching this again.
thank you car throttle - you made me laugh in the first time in like 4 weeks!
ethan: okay this is too wide...
jack: ah..
Alex: ah..
Ethan: ah..

Hotel? Trivago
Greatest video in a while! Honestly I had a great time.
