  • This shows how to direct connect the control terminals on a solenoid. It is a useful way to rule out any problem with wireless or wander lead remote. It doesn't test the function of the solenoid, but if it gives a reassuring ‘thunk’ with a direct connection the chances are it is working. We have found WINCHMAX solenoids to be incredibly reliable so you would be very unlucky to find one faulty.

I used my Winchmax today to pull out a tree stump and it stopped working. It has hardly had any use. The solenoid clunks like its engaging and the spool free wheels OK but it won't run. I think I may have overloaded it and If I had what could the problem be? I would appreciate our opinon before I pull it apart.

Hi, thank you for your message. If you think you have overloaded the winch, or burnt out the motor, the best thing to do is bench test the motor. Please email Winchmax directly (info@winchmax.co.uk) and they can send instructions on how to do this. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
      Many thanks - Winchmax Team.

Hi, Thank you for your message. What you have described (intermittent function) in usually caused by voltage drop. This can be caused by a corroded terminal or more commonly by a bad earth. All 12v/24v winches need an earth direct to the battery (a chassis earth is not sufficient), this is always the first thing to check as its the number 1 installation error. Please let me know what you find and we can go from there. Perhaps give me a call when standing in front of the winch - 01986 899264, I would be happy to help. Thanks, Winchmax Team.
