Callum Stewart do people usually score from that white line where they were shooting first? Or did Matthew and Brady just make it look easy? Don’t play so jus wondering
I had a hate on for these guys when they first came on the scene but now I really appreciate the grit and integrity they bring night after night that’s so lacking in the NHL today ! Good on ya boys and keep up the grit grinding and old school hockey mentality ;)
David Selby negative - if that was the case the leafs would have a couple of grit grinders on the roster - instead we have a group of lazy overpaid jerks ....
As a field hockey player, I got to admit that the fake movements of his wrists at 1.25 were really nice! But that might also come due to the hand postition of him, I'm still not sure about that... What do you all think?
With field hockey being my primary sport at school (I’m in the UK, and football {soccer} and rugby {mix it with chess and shoulder pads and you have the NFL} are the main winter sports for schools). I preferred hockey (field) and that’s how I learned about ice hockey. It’s heartening to know I was better than these guys!! I’m pretty sure if that goalie was trying she’d me to shame, but based on the evidence of this video alone, I was at least that good.
It’s because the sport was originally played on grass, so the ball would bounce a lot more and the best position to stop it in was by holding it in front of your legs as if you were playing cricket. As a result the stick was shorter to make that more comfortable, and also because longer sticks didn’t work so well on grass. When it transitioned to astro-turf, they didn’t change the stick length.
@@lir.j6245 is it only played on Turf now? The whole thing does not seem well thought out. If grass is so tall you need short stick and bend over just to play maybe is not worth it.
@@MbisonBalrog it’s only played on turf now. It was played on grass like 100 so years ago. The end of the stick was a bit wider back then too, looked a bit more like an ice hockey stick blade with one side rounded. It was also played in the winter months by cricket players in the off-season, and cricket pitches tends to have short grass and more even ground, so it bounced because of the properties of the soil, you could still play though. Field hockey is really popular across the globe, so yeah I would say it’s worth playing. It’s good fun, you just have to get a stance so that when your playing your back doesn’t hurt. I recommend you check out the sport of Bandy, it’s a precursor to ice hockey and they have short sticks like they do in field hockey, with similar rules +off-side. Looks like fun too. Played a lot in Scandinavia, and a few NHL players played it back home.
What we have learned from all of these challenges is that Taryn is the superior Tkachuk sibling
Taryn is the superior Tkachuk sibling 😅
"Oooohhh I had it...I had it...no I didn't" lmfao

As a field hockey player this makes me so happy
Sameee!!

@@Logancruickshank the white line they were using first is like the penalty spot in soccer/football
@@Logancruickshank the probability of scoring from a penalty like that is pretty high but penalties like that are rarely given
Doesn’t it get tiring to bend over your back like that so much? I also find the sticks so awkward

I didn’t understand that joke, what’s it referring to?
This is so funny to watch as a field hockey player :)
The hardest shots to stop are those where not even the shooter know where it's going lol

Why sport not use longer sticks? Looks uncomfortable.
