The older I get, the better I like the "On Every Street " album, the variety of just, well, good music, these two songs an example, one blues, one country, yet, both are unmistakably Dire Straits( or Mark Knopfler). Genius.
Amazing audio quality. You can almost feel the ambient from the studio... Just get good headphones or speakers, and listen to this on the night, with your lights out... No CD will ever sound as good as this.
Sounds awesome on my old Dell all in one. The built in speakers are great. To think I paid $5 for it at a yard sale 3 years.I could watch the record play for hours.
Just got this record few days ago. Same Back to Black reissue. Great sound. I’m running Rega P2 and a Goldring E3 cart. Thanks for this post. Love your vids! Keep ‘em coming!
While there are things about almost every LP a person owns that makes it special to them, I can take any of the Dire Straits albums, play it and the sound will move me and the person who is listening to it with me. Yes, the vinyl helps immensely, but the artistry is there on every single LP. Great selections for this pair of tunes, Rui. (P.S. I'm looking forward to seeing Mark Knopfler live here this September.)
They were one of my favorite bands when i was a kid. And i wasn't wrong, they were really good. I bought the box-set years ago, and "On Every Street" was my least favorite album from them. At the time I thought that it was a bit of a departure from the old British sound, i can hear stronger US influences on the music - nothing wrong with that, it's just that i slightly prefer the UK rock style. The second song of this video reminds me a bit of the US rock from the 50s. On other tracks there's a bit of country music too, i think... and Blues. I wasn't giving the due credit to this album i guess. It's very nicely made, it's just different from what they made previously.
@@MrVinylObsessive While I don't really have a least favorite as there are highs and lows on each one, this last time I saw Dire Straits in concert, this was the album that had just come out, so I'm sure I have a tainted view of it given that. And, I must admit, you gave me pause to think when you said they were a favorite band when you were a "kid". I was entering college for my second degree when their first album came out. So, I'm sure that puts a different spin on our views of them. While I really like Mark Knopfler's guitar playing, his newest solo album doesn't have anything outstanding on it as far as I'm concerned and feel that after Dire Straits disbanded, his work has not had the power it did when he was with them. (A couple of collaborations ""Neck and Neck" with Chet Atkins and his work with Sonny Landreth are great, but the solo stuff just doesn't do it for me as much anymore.
@@AriKona Completely agree with you about Mark Knopfler solo work. His solo efforts makes me feel indifferent, lacks the sparkle, the emotional factor of Dire Straits, which is not much better than saying i don't like his work. He's very competent of course, but to make inspiring music one needs more than technical prowess. Another example would be David Gilmour, great guitar playing, great voice full of character when in Pink Floyd, but his solo work... well, a bit boring to be honest, unless he's playing something from PF. 😄
It's moments like this that I'm glad I upgraded my computer sound system. This little S.M.S.L. amp and these Sound Appeal speakers can rock it all the way to my neighbor's place quite clearly. 😄 I use both methods with no problems. You see, practice makes for perfection. I put the needle on the record by hand thousands of times in my life, i'm 52 now, so you can imagine how much practice i have now. It's not a big deal, as long as you have a steady hand.

@@mkol-mkol I still have the Akiyama. The intention was to improve the sound, or at least, having a new "flavor" of sound.
